Form + Field

We worked with Form + Field for a remodel and interior design project of our kitchen, living room, dining room, library and two bathrooms. We couldn’t have asked for a better experience or outcome. Worth every penny! We had gotten kind of stuck trying to redesign on our own , spending too much time searching for the right pieces without a bigger picture. We wanted an eclectic mix of vintage and new pieces and modern energy while also preserving and incorporating some of the beatiful original features of the house ( wood floors, molding, fireplace etc). Form + Field were great at helping us source new and vintage pieces, also refinishing some of our current pieces . The colors and lighting are amazing , the fabrics beautiful and luxurious feeling but also tough to withstand our kids and dog! It has been an absolute joy to live in, everyday I am grateful for the work they did. Form + Field were absolute professionals through the project management and in communication with us, no surprises. We finished in schedule! The weekly meetings kept us informed and involved as much as we wanted. Very responsive communicators, very professional. The few problems we had ( had an issue with the stone in the kitchen for example) were addressed transparently and quickly with a resolution that worked for all of us. Over all, we so appreciated their professionalism in their practice and talent and skill in design. We never could have gotten an outcome like this without them and everyday are enjoying this beautiful house. A++++++

I had a wonderful experience with Form + Field throughout the entire process. The team was always accessible, responsive, flexible and a pleasure to interact with. I have pretty strong opinions about design and they managed to both respect my "vision" and challenge me to consider totally different ideas that I would never have considered on my own (and which I ended up loving so much more than my own initial ideas!). The team designed three full bathrooms, a foyer, a kitchen, and the walk-in closet of my dreams, and also consulted on my own designs for other rooms in the house. This was part of a whole-home rebuild that took 2 years to complete, thanks to slow contractors. F+F was ALWAYS on or ahead of schedule and their vendors are A+. Every day I look at their work and am grateful for their involvement. Although I never planned to spend any money on designers, the amount I spent on F+F more than paid for itself in the value it added to my remodel, and it provided me with a much, much better result than I would have gotten otherwise.

Form + Field is simply superb. The Form + Field team took our design style and ran with it, coming up with a final design that exceeded even our wildest expectations. We love that the design is simultaneously contemporary and timeless. It is warm, it maximizes the use of our space in the city, and it is new and exciting. We just love our new house. The Form + Field team demonstrated impeccable project management from start to finish. They were on time, on budget, and just a pleasure to work with in every respect. The design process started with us sharing examples of our style, talking about what we hoped to achieve through our project, and aligning on a budget. Form + Field then iterated on designs, allowing us to make choices but whittling the options using their taste and judgment to make the process as easy as possible for us. Form + Field also helped us work through challenges, including when contractor costs went over budget. They helped us come up with options and prioritize. At the end of the day, we couldn't be happier. We would recommend Form + Field to anyone exploring a renovation.

Form + Field were the first interior designers we've worked closely with and their work has made an immense difference for our young family. We first contacted Christine during our home-buying process in late 2020 / early 2021 and worked with the team over several phases spanning 2021-2023. The initial phase (2021) included complete rehauls to two upstairs bathrooms (the primary and kids baths) while a second phase (late 2021-2022) included furnishings to the primary suite and the third phase (2022-2023) focused on specific updates to the first floor and re-furnishing the living, dining and media rooms. Across all 3 phases our investment was in the $350-450K range (this includes all construction, materials, furnishings, design services including the various mark ups / shortages during the pandemic). We appreciated how Christine took time upfront to understand our young family, our design / life inspirations and what we hoped to live in the space. She then shared an overall design direction which the team drew on through all 3 phases of the design process. In the complete rehaul of the bathrooms the Form+Field team created detailed construction documents, handled all ordering and coordinated with our contractors through the many pivots and delays of a pandemic-era remodel. In the interior furnishings / specific updates to the first floor, we relied on the Form+Field team to design layouts, furnishing selections and materials, but handled the coordination with trades people and some furnishings vendors ourselves (given the tighter scope of work). We appreciated how flexible Christine and team were with our different modes of partnership. Our home has been transformed by Form + Field's work -- it functions really well for our young family and we regularly host extended family and friends as well. Everyone comments on the uniqueness of the design and many friends and family (who saw the home before and after the design updates) assume we completely gutted and remodeled the whole house. While like any remodel there were some pivots and delays along the way (particularly around construction and ordering of materials / furniture), we feel lucky to live in such a thoughtful and unique space every day.

Form + Field was the best partner we could have hoped for on renovating our Tahoe vacation home! Christine and her team are friendly and organized. They helped guide us through the intense process of renovating our home at every step of the way, above and beyond the design itself. They were great at collaborating with us on our vision, pushing us to take on some bold design ideas, and incorporating our feedback. It totally paid off - our home is so unique and beautiful now. We get lots of complements from everyone who visits or sees our pictures and feel so happy with how our house turned out.

I saw a Form + Field kitchen on the Houzz site a couple years ago and fell in love. I called them immediately. They have an outstanding design eye and are lovely to work with. They are relatively new but I could tell they are going places. We had to wait a while to work with them but totally adore our gorgeous new kitchen that feels like art. Highly recommend!

Christine and her team at F&F envisioned and created our dream home. When it came to designing and managing my dream kitchen project, Christine Lin and her team were a dream team. First, Christine not only understood my husband's and my esthetic -- decades of collecting contemporary art and regional crafts -- but translated that into a creative, unique kitchen design. AND Christine melded that with our Joseph Eichler apartment's original design. The design process was fun -- lots of options, discussion, and ideas that I would never have come up with myself. (THAT's why one hires a designer!) While the kitchen feels completely of-the-moment, it also pays homage to the apartment's 1960s roots. It also feels "collected"--rather than offer up a trendy stark-white, laboratory-style kitchen, Christine combined custom cabinets with modular shelving with walnut paneling with terrazo flooring with Heath tile, creating what feels like a kitchen made over time. Then Form + Field found an incredible partner in contractor Shelly Ly of Ly Green Construction. Shelly's bid was half the cost of several other bids, and her team was on time, entirely responsive, worked within our building's rules. Christine and her staff kept tabs so I didn't have to. Then, when pandemic stuff happened -- supply chain problems! of course! -- both Christine and Shelly kept in touch to finalize the project. How often does one find such creativity and professional savvy together in one package? I am thrilled with our new kitchen, and cannot recommend Christine highly enough. Indeed, I've passed her name on to several friends already.

Christine and Shelbie were very professional from the beginning to the end of the project. They are very attentive and knew how to solve all the little problems we faced (not that much). They understood our expectations perfectly, and the result is splendid. I highly recommend working with From & Field. A special mention to their photographer, Molly, who also did a great job. As a construction company in the Bay Area, we are working with many designers and architects but working with Christine and the team from Form+Field is so much easier and her work is beautiful. Her design, floorplan, and lay out is very accurate and the final result is precise.
