A Curated Room

I tried to keep this review short and sweet but it's tough to do. Virginie is highly skilled, always professional, organized, thorough, versatile... just really good at her job, that's all there is to it. She's also very reasonably priced for what she does. I only know this because I got other quotes before I found her. As someone with zero design skill, I had previously talked to other designers who were kind of intimidating (and kind of haughty honestly), and balked at my naive idea of a budget and timeline. When I found Virginie, she never made me feel anything but empowered to make good choices and learn. She worked with my budget and timeline and let them inform her recommendations. As I worked with her for over a year, and on three different projects, she not only helped me renovate, furnish, and decorate my spaces, but she explained her process and each choice so I was constantly learning and gaining my own skills. Working with her was almost like having a private design tutor, which was so fun I want to come up with more projects that we can work on together. I truly cannot recommend her enough!

We’ve worked with Virginie on numerous projects over the last 4 years. When we first decided to hire a designer, we were very overwhelmed, given we had just moved from a small apartment to a house. Virginie was professional, patient and hands-on every step of the way. She is a fantastic communicator and walked us through each step and kept us on track. As two working parents with small children, we needed assistance managing the project and Virginie made the entire process seamless. She is a consummate professional and extremely talented at her craft. Virginie was thoughtful about our design preferences and goals, but also took the opportunity to introduce ideas that we wouldn’t have considered, but are glad we did! Most importantly to us, she’s always given us the attention and support we need, for both large and small projects. We can’t wait to work with her again!

I worked with Virginie on kitchen, primary bath and powder room renovations in a 2k sq ft loft condo in 2023. From her initial consultation to the final “after” photo shoot, Virginie provided a fun, inspiring, clear and seamless experience. She is very transparent about her services and costs. She listens to what you want and can translate very vague thoughts and preferences into a beautiful selection of options. She is very cognizant of budget for services and materials. She also was the key to communicating with the contractor for someone like me who has no experience in doing so. She speaks their language ;-) And she will monitor (not manage) their work and help problem-solve any issues This was my first time renovating and after being overwhelmed on my own with the choices and potential risks of not getting something right - Virginie was exactly the designer I needed. Thrilled with the results!

I was delighted with Virginie since our first meeting! She captured what we wanted and the style/design that we were looking for. She is extremely professional and has great work ethic. We contracted A Curated Room to complete a second phase of interior design of our foyer, office, and hallway and Virginie did not disappoint. She is upfront about her policy and prices, which are comparable and fair area-wide. The grass cloth wallpaper in the foyer and stairwell are a hit and give the area a 'lifelike feel.' We now have a warm, welcoming entrance to our home with comfortable seating. The transformation of our office was night and day, and our friends and family say this looks like a scene out of a magazine. She blended the designs from our first floor to the second floor so the transition is flawless. We had her order a Sub-Zero Wine cooler for our upstairs deck which fit perfectly, which was a huge concern given the odd shape of the space .The pandemic did slow down the supply of some of our items, but Virginie was tactical about her orders and storage to save us on the cost; there was only one item from our original presentation that was not available due to shortage that she was able to replace in a timely manner. I really like her pre-presentation format as well as her attention to details and constant follow-up to ensure there are no errors or mistakes. We searched for an interior designer for a while. Since our “permanent dream house” project was long term and located in a different State, it was important for us to find and hire an interior designer locally, who we would love to work with, on a frequent basis, and who would also fit our budget. We discovered Virginie and her firm “A Curated Room Ltd, Co” on the Houzz website. The firm was located in Georgia and had countless outstanding reviews. We interviewed five interior designers in total but no one impressed us more than Virginie. She simply outshined all the other designers with her beautiful vision, attention to details, quick follow ups, vast knowledge, tech-savvy skills* and her exceptional customer service that until this day is out of this World. *It is important to mention that this visual aspect was very important to us, since one of us needs more visual aid with choosing the right furniture, textures and colors. Our house is getting more beautiful each day. We love every single piece we picked with Virginie. It has been such a wonderful experience. We look forward to seeing Virginie every time. My favorite are the trips with Virginie to ADAC, America’s Mart and local showrooms in search for furniture, fabrics or other décor pieces. She is so inclusive and I am learning so much about interior designing by her side. My husband likes the ease and accuracy with which Virginie presents all the payment details and how she is able to answer all the budget related questions on the go for him. Our wonderful collaboration continues during Covid. Because of it, we ran into a few delays and a couple of furniture shipping/delivery issues but we have Virginie and she handles everything professionally and without a glitch. We do not know what we would do without her, especially now. For those who are looking for an interior designer, remember take your time! You will be spending a lot of money and a lot of time with that person. You need to work as a team and also be a good match. Take time to search for the right person. It will make the entire process run smoother and overall experience more satisfying. As for us, we join all of the other happy clients here on Houzz. Virginie was professional and responsive. She always kept me on track and was very conscious of my budget (even when I was not). She had some really great ideas and solutions to problems, such as installing a built-in bench/nook which made our small, awkward space more functional. My absolute favorite idea she had was installing custom-made room dividers (I never in a million years would have thought to do that) and they totally transformed our entryway. She handled hiring the contractors and over-seeing the installation, and everyone she used did a good job as well. Virginie also helped me pick out rugs, pillows, light fixtures, and decor pieces. She sent me a lot of options because most of the time I had no idea what I was looking for. I didn't really have a "vision" and I can be very indecisive, but she made the process pretty easy and everything turned out even better than I hoped. Overall, it was a great experience and I definitely plan on working with her again on other rooms in the future.

Virginie did a fantastic job designing spaces in our home. She was able to get a great idea of our style (which even we have trouble describing) and provide options that were not only within our budget but we loved. She was incredibly patient with us and was able to work around our schedule as well as install all items without us being home. We knew we wanted to put some wallpaper in our space and she was able to come up with great options that looked even better than we could have imagined. She was also able to incorporate pieces we already owned and make the room come together great. We also loved that she didn’t push styles onto us, she provided options and her opinion, but ultimately respected our decisions. All in all, Virginie was a wonderful professional to work with and we would hire her again in a heartbeat.

I hired Virginie to redo space in our new home. I had never hired a designer before and was a bit overwhelmed as to where to start. Her portfolio drew me in because everything looked very different meaning she could really narrow in on her clients style. We decided the living room since it was where we spent the most time and could reuse most of the existing furniture downstairs. She was great, very responsive and budget conscious. We went back and forth on a number of times until I felt like it was what I was looking for. I wanted stylish, comfortable and stain friendly since I have a young son and a mechanic husband. What's great is we have more furniture and seating but the space feels bigger based on her considerations with the layout. It was also really nice to have everything done by one person, she hires and oversees all electrical, carpentry, delivery, and setup work. I look forward to working with her in the future!

I brought A Curated Room in to help us make our TV room convert to a guest bedroom when we had out-of-town guests in. I had selected a pull-out couch and found some curtains I thought might work, but I really had no Idea how to pull the room together. I also had a few other needs elsewhere in the house: some pieces for the living room, and a new dining room table. For a small fee, Virginie (the owner) came in to assess everything, and then provided a budget for her fee ($500), and for the items we needed (new paint, bedside tables, rug, drapes and curtain hardware, bed linens, table lamps, accessories, and the dining room table). She provided a few options for each item, and then honed in on the final selections as we went back and forth on what we liked or didn't like. The room went from one we really didn't enjoy being in, to a room that my husband and I both gravitate to. We needed it to be a welcoming guest room, but in the process it became a really nice TV room for us too! I just enjoy walking past it in the morning and looking in - it makes me happy! Plus working with her was a very nice experience, and the cost was quite reasonable.

We moved into our new town-home in the fall and really needed help with floor layout and adding depth to our very gray walls! I had looked around online and read reviews of other interior designers but Virginie's reviews and portfolio drew us in! I am not afraid of color so we worked really well together. She brought numerous samples to our house, often came way past usual business hours just to sit and understand what exactly we we looking for. Her level of commitment and customer satisfaction is superior. She is awesome to work with and appreciates that it sometimes takes numerous attempts to achieve the final product. We found her pricing to be very fair and she is very very budget conscious! She oversaw each and every installation and her crew are extremely professional. We have absolutely no reservation in recommending her!

Virginie Airieau of A Curated Room was fantastic to work with. She was recommended by neighbors for whom she did whole-house and whole-room projects. We were grateful that she took on our smaller project and smaller budget. She understood what we were looking for but was great at exposing us to new ideas that we adopted. We also appreciated her presenting design and materials options with various pricing that fit within our budget. We love the result and look forward to moving forward eventually with her other recommendations.

I was hesitate to use an interior designer because I thought that privilege was reserved for the ultra wealthy or someone decorating an entire home. All I wanted to do was a beautiful dining room and Virginie made that happen. She vibed with what I was seeking and found me some amazing options. I'm so impressed by the way the dining room has turned out I could hardly wait to have guests over to show off my new space.

This was my first project using a professional interior designer. We did some shopping around and decided to use Virginie, as she had also done some local projects with our new neighbors. Her price compared to other people we researched was reasonable and comparable to the market (~$50/hr). We had an initial meeting to discuss likes and dislikes, and then she went to work developing a PowerPoint layout of what to expect. I have a picky partner, so there was a lot of back and forth and multiple changes. Throughout the project, Virginie was extremely professional and demonstrated excellent knowledge skills for home design. I really like her use of accent wallpaper, which we were hesitant to use, given my experience in the past. We had several delays in our closing, and she was willing to store items we ordered at her home to help cut down on cost. She was present during each phase of the installation, even having painters come back to correct any perceived flaw in work. Her attention to detail was much appreciated, and we were able to stay within $1,000 of budget (only reason we went over was that we wanted a more expensive lamp and rug than originally agreed upon). I highly recommend A Curate Room for any home decoration needs.

We recently moved. V from A Curated Room did an amazing job placing our favorite pieces in our new town home. The house was a basic grey and she suggested accenting single walls with textured wallpaper. She has an amazing knack for creating beautiful spaces right out of a design magazine. She was very conscious about our budget. She helped with the placement of our knick knacks, lights, and art. She also selected all of our window treatments. We always thought we were very good at placement but she was much better.

Professional, efficient, and quick to respond to new requests or changes. Provided awesome solutions for our dining room, office, living room, and master bedroom, for everything from furniture to wallpaper and everything in between.
