I had recently downsized to a small apartment and was wanting ideas for a valence above the sliding balcony doors which dominate the view when you enter the apartment. We came up with so many great fabrics that I commissioned both a winter and summer valence, as well as matching tablecloth and table runners. It was efficient searching through the fabric swatches using the Houzz design book she set up for me. The seamstress's workmanship was superb. Along the way I got excellent suggestions from her on ways to arrange my wall art more effectively. Every time I saw an obstacle, she saw a clever opportunity. Laura was professional, keeping me posted along the way when there were fabric delivery delays. I found her pricing to be very reasonable for the quality of work.

We were referred to Laura Sabo of 13 Design Lane Interiors through our real estate broker after relocating to Portland. Laura worked with our very different decorating styles--I like eclectic and visually stimulating while my husband prefers more a more spare look. Laura took us on many ‘field trips’ to local showrooms. We found and customized a sofa from Perch Furniture and from the Joinery, she helped us purchase a handmade coffee table, gorgeous butterfly table and a curved wood floor lamp. She was invaluable in figuring out a layout and orientation of the living room furniture, which was very tricky due to a wall of windows and the need to accommodate a large TV and speakers. For the living room rug, Laura helped us figure out how to get the perfect coverage with FLOR carpet squares in a very odd-shaped area. Also, after visits to local fabric stores to find the perfect fabric, Laura took care of having our dining chairs reupholstered, complete with new foam, wood refinishing and pick-up and delivery to our condo in The Pearl. I had a great time working with 13 Design Lane Interiors. Laura listened & we had a very productive brainstorm. She was honest & direct...gave me very good direction for color. She also facilitated a reapolstery for an antique setee....it was fantastic.

The project scope was to purchase a number of furnishings for a basement apartment, consisting of one bedroom, a bathroom, a combination full kitchen/dining room, and a TV/living room -- about 720 square feet in all, in an urban farm setting that mixes retro with a more modern look. The challenge was to tastefully blend these items together with other existing furnishings and all the various characteristics of the newly-remodeled spaces, consistent with retro, modern, and urban farm objectives; and to do so within a reasonable budget. The spaces themselves were particularly challenging -- very tight in places, with low ceilings and oddly shaped floor plans (consistent with the way basements usually are). Notwithstanding my 35 years of construction remodeling experience, the challenge was well beyond my own capabilities, which is why I felt like I needed help. And am I ever glad that Laura Sabo/13 Design Lane was available to lend a hand! First, we worked together to identify the furnishings that would be needed, which was no easy task given all the variables. Then she used her knowledge and experience to develop a reasonable budget that I approved, coordinating closely with me throughout.. After that she did almost everything else that was needed by herself to find the pieces (many of which came from re-sale shops), working closely with me on each one to make sure I approved before a specific purchase was made; to get the pieces transported to the apartment; and then to work with my handyman/carpenter to get everything properly set up. I was amazed! And, as can be seen from the photos, the apartment turned out beautifully -- far exceeding my expectations. I was especially impressed with color coordination; those carpet squares were an idea to kill for; and costs came in close to budget. Additional attributes included weekly status reports, including costs; and get togethers were always on time, and well organized. Overall, the help that was provided was HUGE! Something I could have never done by myself.

My fiancé and I are very satisfied with the interior design help we received from 13 Design Lane Interiors. Laura Sabo was a pleasure to work with. As a couple, we just couldn't seem to put our heads together to re-do the living room on our own, so we sought outside help from a professional. Laura helped us with visioning, color scheme, a layout, and the purchasing of all the furniture. She did a ton of research to help us find what we were wanting to see in our living room and dining room. The challenge here for us (on our own/without help)was that this was a big rectangular room which was too challenging for us to blend and balance within the framework of a tradition design theme. With Laura's aid, we were able to accomplish that by creating a well balanced space with coordinating colors, shapes, a focal points. With her help, we purchased an antique red entertainment center, an off-white 3 person sofa, over stuffed chair with ottoman, two swivel chairs, and a coffee table and adorable round side pedestal table. One of our main objectives was to keep our expensive area rug, so Laura helped us to build from it. Now the living room is gorgeous! We also purchased a new area rug for the dining room and chandelier for over the dining room table. The entire rectangular room comprising the living room and dining room is now in harmony. We are looking forward to hosting our second guest event, Thanksgiving, in our home that we are proud of. Laura really helped us stay motivated and on track. Laura started helping me the first hour we met and the living room just kept getting better with every visit. She was able to work with out Victorian house, but with our desire to move to a little more modern touch. She was very clear with pricing and helped us make good financial decisions.
