A colleague at the Brooklyn Museum referred us to Sidney Markowitz (Distinctive Decor) about 15 years ago. Sidney has re-covered armchairs, dining room chair seats, and a Pierre Deux couch for us. He also repaired and refinished two antique English wooden desks with multiple drawers, and two broken ornate cherrywood chairs. Sidney did a superb job in each case. He worked quickly, thoroughly, artfully and expertly, and we enjoyed working with him. His prices are fair and his work holds up beautifully over time. We highly recommend Distinctive Decor.

I'm thrilled with the work! I custom ordered a window shade that I have been dreaming about for years. It was done perfectly! Exactly the way I envisioned! I'm so glad! I have also done all my reupholstery at distinctive decor. The selections of fabrics are very up to date and unique and the work is done beautifully!! When I moved into my new home I called Distinctive Decor to order wood blinds. They were very reliable and even came down to my home with samples so we could match the blinds to my paint colors.It was a pleasure doing business with Distinctive Decor.

When moving into our new apartment, we were in desperate need to cover our windows and to dress up our simple home. When we called Mr Markowitz he was quick to set up an appointment and accommodate our schedule. Mr Markowitz was helpful in explaining our options and he fit our windows with temporary shades until our custom sized shades were ready. We were extremely happy with the service and pricing.
