T.A.S Construction is an Austin based full service remodeling firm specializing in whole house renovations, kitchen remodels, bathroom renovations and additions. T.A.S Construction was founded in 2003 by Tonianne Soster who serves as General Contractor. A passion for the construction business, particularly in home renovations, lead Tonianne into the business during the summer of 2000. Never afraid of a challenge, Tonianne started her career purchasing older homes, most in need of extensive renovation and repair. The majority of these homes were located in the heart of inner city Austin. After a couple of years Tonianne started gaining recognition from Architects and Realtors who encouraged her to branch out and renovate homes for others. That's when Tonianne formed T.A.S Construction and started expanding her client base. Tonianne's goal is to work efficiently and effectively transforming her clients dream home into reality while using a combination of sophisticated, trendy and timeless design elements. Since most of the homes that Tonianne renovates are older homes, energy efficiency is a key component to the transformation. With a strong sense of design aesthetics and attention to detail, Tonianne takes on whole house renovations including new kitchen and bathrooms. Many of Tonianne's projects also include master bedroom suites, family room and second story additions. Tonianne has over 15 years of experience dealing with all facets of the construction business. With Tonianne managing every aspect and phase of construction, she successfully completes projects within a timely fashion. Tonianne is recognized for high-end quality finish out with unique characteristics and custom finishes that exceed her clients expectations. She attributes her success to the fact that she engages in challenging projects in a field that she is incredibly passionate about... "It's not work when you love what you do". With over 12 years of prior experience working in the finance industry, Tonianne has the keen ability to effectively manage any budget. We used Tonianne for our first full home remodel in 2014 and had such a great experience, we hired her again in 2018 when we moved. On both projects, Tonianne set realistic timelines and came in on schedule. She has strong relationships with her subs and collaborates well with homeowners and decorators to create custom kitchens and baths. In our second, larger remodel, we needed to employ an architect to re-design the floor plan and raise the ceiling in a large area. Tonianne referred us to a wonderful architect and then seamlessly oversaw the project that included; foundation work (with engineering needs), framing, roofing, replacing plumbing, and finishing out the interior (including 3 bedrooms, 2 baths, living area, kitchen, staircase, and reframing the home to add a large closet, laundry room, and mudroom). We are so pleased with the final result of our home and always enjoy working with TAS Construction.

TAS Construction was a great choice for our remodel. Our project included gutting existing baths, kitchen, floors, popcorn ceilings, doors/jams, and opening up some walls. Tonianne had a great team of subcontractors to come in and complete the project within the timeline she had set for us at the beginning of the project. Since I was not working with an interior designer, I think one of the best things Tonianne offered was to be a sounding board for my ideas and vision. She has great taste, an eye for detail, and knows which design choices will give the greatest turn out. She was also quick to respond to multiple emails/questions/texts on a daily basis throughout the project. One year after our completion date, we are still very happy with the work done. We have worked with Tonianne on multiple remodel projects over the last decade. The fact that we keep coming back to use her services again should let you know that she is reliable and delivers good-quality work. We have done three major remodels: 1) converting a living room into a bedroom and bathroom (including building a new exterior wall and dealing with major foundation issues), 2) remodeling two 1950s bathrooms and moving interior walls to change bedroom configurations and expose & refinish wood flooring in the original part of our home, 3) installation of hardwood flooring in kitchen, and 4) addition of 650 sq ft for new master bedroom and bathroom. Each of these four projects was done at a different time, and each time Tonianne and her crew were a pleasure to work with.

We hired Tonianne after seeing her work on "Bang for your Buck". I fell in love with the kitchens she did for the Austin episode. After contacting her about remodeling our kitchen, she hooked me with an amazing local architect, Cindy Black. The two of them made an awesome team. Cindy really listened to us and provided a design as unique as we were and Tonianne brought that vision to fruition. She always kept cost in mind and had many design suggestions of her own. She allowed me to be as hands as I wanted with the project, while still making sure everything was completed professionally and on time. I have since hired her again to remodel my children's bathroom and it looks amazing.

Tonianne GC'd our kitchen remodel. We took a mostly original (from 1930) kitchen down to the studs and did a somewhat unusual, architect-designed overhaul. We were very particular - we wanted a new kitchen that looked old. We wanted old texture and new appliances. We wanted a cohesive, professional look with the patina of the past. Tonianne achieved this for us. Tonianne is extremely efficient. I know she must have other clients, but I always felt like we were her first priority. I don't know how she does it, to be honest. She always responds to me right away, and yet I never feel like she's distracted by her smart phone when she's with us. It's like magic. Tonianne knows all the best sub-contractors in Austin, I'm now convinced. We had done various projects before, but never have I experienced such professional demo, framing, drywall, carpentry, painting, and floor-laying before. Each of her subs was friendly and professional - but none took more of my time with chatting (I work from home, so that's been a problem on past projects) than I wanted to share. And our results are polished and thorough. Everyone who walks in raves. On past projects with other GC's, we've had delays due to subs not being available when we need them. This never happened with Tonianne. Someone was here working every day of our project. That must be why we finished on-time. The only delays were unavoidable - we ended up having to re-build the subfloor after we tore up the old layers of flooring and saw what bad shape the old subfloor was in. She had her framers on-site ASAP (I think they came AFTER finishing a day's work on another job, because they came at like 4 in the afternoon and worked into the evening that day), and they got the job done FAST. The other delay was due to a wall that turned out to be out of plumb. Again, her sub was here in a jiffy to fix the issue. It was clear that Tonianne has a respectful relationship with her subs, as they all worked hard to do what she/we needed them to do, when we needed it done. We've worked with other general contractors in Austin before, but we won't work with anyone but Tonianne in the future.

We did a major downstairs remodel including downstairs floor, kitchen and structural work, . Tonianne's crew is excellent and had alternatives when needed. She factors cost and time into decisions. Always prompt. The elephant in the room is having a female contractor. It is always fun to Tonianne arrive and watch the all male crews go on high alert. She commands their respect and attention. The bonus is having a female touch on the end product.

Finding the right contractor is very difficult. This is a person who is going to shape your home, design where you cook your food, and the place where you lay your head to sleep. Its a very personal partnership. Tonianne is my gal, 100 %. I told her that I am going to hire her again if I buy a new house or ever remodel again. She was supportive of my ideas and showed me better ones when I was lost. She made a very scary project totally fun and I never felt like I was being taken on a financial ride. On the contrary, it seemed, the most important thing to her, was my house and my happiness. And my house turned out dynamite!!
