Jim’s professional story and the story of Schneider Construction are one and the same as the company is truly built in the image of its owner. Jim started the business in 1984 primarily focusing on single phase contracting. He was proficient handling projects such as roofing, siding, decking and framing since he had grown up working for his father, a successful home builder. In 1986, framing became his focus as Jim built a 10 crew framing business, a phase of construction that is still one of the pillars of Schneider Construction today. In 1992 he built his first full home and the professional growth for Jim and his business continued to evolve. In 2003, after successfully building many homes in the Northeast, Jim and his wife Sue moved both the business and their family to Virginia. Schneider Construction serves all of Southeastern Virginia including the Eastern Shore, Norfolk, and Virginia Beach. For many years, Jim has worked with architects and designers to build many beautiful vacation and retirement homes along the Chesapeake Bay on the quaint and beautiful Eastern Shore. Jim enjoys an excellent reputation among the Shore locals and continues to build there today. Jim is a very personable, down to earth guy. An excellent communicator, especially on the listening side, his clients enjoy a close working relationship with him and his team. It is not unusual for those relationships to continue long after the projects are complete. He is a true perfectionist and his reputation reflects that. Jim and Schneider Construction are truly one and the same.

We were very pleased with Schneider Construction. Technically, we renovated a beach house but really it was torn down and rebuilt from scratch. The whole Schneider team from design, to planning to construction did an outstanding job. Their follow up on some minor touch ups even several months after the project was completed and paid for was superb.

Jim has built several homes that I have designed and each time I have been impressed with the quality of his work and the professionalism with which he approaches both his projects and his business. He even maintains an extensive showroom of materials and finishes and an in house interior designer to help clients select materials and finishes for their home. Jim went above and beyond before the project was even approved, offering to attend my HOA's architectural review board meeting with me to answer any questions they had. We needed multiple iterations of drawings, and they were always completed quickly and changed exactly how we specified. The timeline they provided was mostly stuck to (unless it was something that was not their fault), and overall the work was done in a more timely fashion than other contractors I've worked with. There was excellent communication along the way, and any time I raised a concern, it was addressed promptly and satisfactorily. The finished project looks amazing--I have gotten so many compliments, and it's not just the appearance, but also the craftsmanship, that is truly impressive. I highly recommend Jim, Jeff (the foreman on our project), Jaime and Jenna (the designers), and the whole Schenider team! I will be using them for any future projects without hesitation.

Jim and Jaime did a terrific job updating two bathrooms and a laundry room in my home. I could not have been more pleased. Appreciated the guidance on selecting the thickness of the shower doors, the perfect floating sink for the space and the new material that keeps soap from building up on the glass door. Thumbs up for Schneider Custom Builders.

Jim and his staff exceeded our expectations. Jim built our home on a sand dune above the Chesapeake Bay. From day one, Jim and his staff were communicative and patiently worked with us to design our home. We knew what we wanted, but Jim and his staff helped us to get there by pointing out flaws and offering suggestions. He knows what he is doing, particularly with to framing and and structure. In the end, we ended up with a home that we are truly proud of. We encountered none of the horror stories out there as pertains to building projects. Jim was very easy to work with and followup has been wonderful. Jim is a quality builder. Not only would I recommend him to a friend, I would recommend him to a family member. Need I say more.

This was our first time building a custom home; Jim and his professional team made it an enjoyable experience. If we had to build another house we would have no hesitation in hiring Schneider Custom Builders. We found the staff to be very knowledgable and very helpful during the house build and post construction support has been stellar. We know we are in good hands with Schneider Custom Builders. Our house was completed in March 2015.

Jim is a highly skilled professional. He and his crew built a home for our family on the beach. The materials used, the craftsmanship, and the attention to detail were exemplary. The collaborative "team" atmosphere that Jim maintained during the planning and construction phases resulted in a level of personalization that is appreciated by our family each day. After living in the house for a while, we requested a few additional features that he built to fit in as if they were always there. We are glad to know Jim, and aside from having our business, he has our trust.

Excellent all around! No complaints or concerns whatsoever. I had the front of my house redone and Jim was very involved and helpful from day one to the end of the project. My house looks AMAZING and is exactly what I was envisioning. I never had problems with delays or communicating with him. Should I have any future projects, he will be my first person to call.
