Renovation Ernst Hellrung

Ernst and his team have been doing a variety of jobs for me for the last 2 years. His integrity, the quality of his work, his follow-up and his professionalism make him the best contractor I have ever dealt with.

From the first consultation to project completion, Ernst has brought a wealth of knowledge and experience to ensure a meticulous, well-constructed and built-to-last result for the work done on our duplex. Our project was a basement and garage renovation, as well as drainage upgrades after flooding from rain overflow. for a duplex built in 1929. Ernst and his team worked quickly and neatly, with minimal disruption. He kept our budget in mind while proposing solutions to ensure that our investment stands the test of time. I also appreciated his willingness to discuss solutions in detail, including working together to problem-solve and implement my design proposals and plans. I am always in search of quality, detailed and timely work with contractors who also understand the importance of communication and relationship building with the client. Ernst and his team delivered in all aspects. I am thrilled to have a bright new living space in our basement and a dry, well-drained garage. Ernst was called upon to help me redo my basement after a flood, just when my house was on the market for resale. He was punctual, efficient and impeccable with work quality. I trust and recommend him wholeheartely and have just rehired him to do a kitchen and bathroom reno in my new home.

The job that Ernst Hellrung's team did with us was excellent. They are professional, capable, and very well mannered and respectful of the space they are working in and the owner's involvement. In terms of craftsmanship we are more than pleased with their skill. The finishing details such as sanding and molding are much appreciated. The team is tiday and organized. They always made sure to clean up and keep the work space safe and clean. They use sustainable materials and supplies and are very aware of safety in the workplace standards.

Mr. Hellrung and his highly competent working crew repaired out badly in need of repair, including rotted spindles, railing and floor of our very old balcony, as well part of the roof extending over it. The work was done with absolute consideration of our family and the work was done in a timely and efficient fashion. The crew did not miss any working days and Mr. Hellrung provided high quality materials. Last, the charge for the work was near to the penny of the estimate provided before the work began.

We have been using Ernst for many years and he is an excellent reliable contractor. He tends to tell you honestly what will be needed, rarely goes much over his estimate, and gets the jobs done in a reasonable time frame. (I write this compared to other contractors who we have been forced to use from time to time) Ernst has punched a hole in wall so we could connect our kitchen and dining area, fixed all sorts of drains, completely re-did our bathroom, and re-did the electrical work in half our apartment which was no longer to code. He is not the cheapest (but far from the most expensive) but for reliability and quality of workmanship he is excellent.

They did a renovation of our main floor which involved destroying a few walls and placement of support beams as well as redoing the floor. The work was very well done, meticulously. The contractor and crew were trustworthy and professional. Helpful suggestions were made along the way. The planned timeline was slightly longer than expected. We were very happy with the end results.

We hired Ernst for 2 major jobs over the last 3 years, involving 3 bathrooms and the movement of a load bearing wall. He and his team were knowledgeable and professional, and a pleasant to have around the house for these projects which lasted roughly six weeks each. We hired Ernst and his team to renovate our kitchen in the spring / summer of 2018. Ernst is a pro, very knowledgeable and conscientious. He readily provided samples and suggestions, and he partners with a host of high-quality suppliers (e.g. cabinet-maker, counter specialist, doors/windows). Ernst is a forward-thinking problem-solver. We found it helpful that he identified potential problem areas that we needed to address (e.g. to avert issue with water main down the road). His team members are professional, knowledgeable and trustworthy. We are happy with the quality of the work and love our kitchen!
