We had a great experience with Need for Build from start to finish. We had an issue with our driveway and hillside eroding away due to the recent heavy rain and needed a retaining wall with a drain to properly fix the issue, which our insurance denied covering. Not only was Need for Build highly responsive when we reached out, but they also came by the very next day to check it out. In that first meeting Darrell identified the problem, gave us numerous quote options based on our financial options, desired functionality, and overall material appearance/durability, and offered to provide us with the necessary supporting evidence to rebuttal the insurance company's denial as this was a common issue in our area at the time and should have been covered. He also explained the company's financing options and warranty for the project, which were better than we had gotten from any other quote. It made it easy from the start to pick them. Once we decided on an option for the cost, materials, and financing, the project was done within 5 days. The crew was fully certified, extremely respectful, and arrived promptly first thing in the morning without being disruptive at any point in time. Darrell and Chris were with them every day and kept us updated with the status of the project the whole time, so we weren't left wondering about any issues or delays. The support didn't end there as the team continued to clearly communicate and assist us even after the wall was fully built. At the conclusion of the project, we faced an issue with the financing company and were still discussing the reassement with the insurance company. Darrell, Danny, and Dannie ensured everything went smoothly with both of these issues and made it clear we were a priority for them. We would highly recommend Need For Build for any project you need and have no doubt in my mind that they would treat you with the upsmost respect and attention. We will forever be grateful for the work and support they provided and will definitely be using them again in the near future!

I recently hired Need For Build to install a retaining wall and replace my driveway. While I am happy with the build quality, I chose them over the competition because of their Price Match Guarantee, which it turns out they do not honor. When they provide estimates, they give a Base Price and a "First Visit Price" that's 15% off the Base Price. They also guarantee that they will price match a lower estimate AND pay 10% of the difference (in cash) between their price and the matched estimate. A couple days after I signed with Need For Build, I received an estimate that was almost $10k less than their bid, which I then submitted to them for a price match. They proceeded to string me along for two and a half months, dodging several requests for an update, and eventually went quiet on me. My takeaway for others: do not trust their sales process, say no to the "First Visit Price", and shop around for other estimates, since their Price Match Guarantee is meaningless and won't be honored. I would definitely have used them for other projects had they honored their word, but moving forward I'll be looking elsewhere and wouldn't recommend them to anyone.

Here is a copy of the email we sent you on 8/23/23 we really don’t understand why you wrote this review or what we can do better to please you. We both know that Your project came out beautiful and will look like that for a long time, we really don’t think we deserve a 1 star review.
Thank you for doing your due diligence and searching for other companies for our "Price Match Guarantee".
We really appreciate it because this is what holds us accountable to our quality, craftsmanship and Warranties.
Your commitment to hold us to our standards of integrity is what we strive for.

After extensive research on the company you provided us a bid from sent us including calling them and talking with them several times ourselves we found out that isn't a true warranty.
They can not provide an actual warranty certificate.

They DO NOT offer a warranty on craftsmanship, only the Lifetime manufacturer warranties with the pavers themselves (which we also offer)

We provided you with a "Paver Forever System Warranty"
1) 10-Year Workmanship Warranty
2) Company Selected Lifetime Warranty
3) Joint San and Stabilizer 10 Years Warranty
4) Weeds Prevention Warranty
5) Pavers Shifting Warranty
6) Triple Transferable Warranty

We also state that 'Need For Build' is the only company that will service you if any issues arise.

They have a bunch of disclosures like this "This warranty will NOT cover the cost of repair for anything that occurs which is beyond our control. In addition, WE DO NOT COVER including but not limited to overloading, impact, abrasion, commercial use, improper or insufficient maintenance, scratching or scuffing of pavers, lack of traction on or slipperiness of joint sand stabilizers, or efflorescence in pavers and stonework, insects, animals

NEED FOR BUILD warranty is non-exclusive. (meaning if you have any issues, call us and we will fix it, no matter what happens)
On top of all the above, they don’t mention in detail what their installation process is for the pavers or the walls.
After calling and talking with them several times, we have found out that they DO NOT install geo-textile, they compact Only Once (1x) and are not using Polymeric Sand but regular joint sand. This is a HUGE deal when you want your driveway to last a lifetime.

If they were to do your driveway and the wall the correct way, they would be higher priced than us by adding the geo-textile (which separates the dirt from the roadbase), compacting the correct way (4x) and the polymeric sand which allows your driveway to shift a bit without compromising the integrity while parking on it several times a day.
On the wall installation, like on the bid you provided, they wouldn’t give us any information unless we schedule an appointment for a bid.
Which means to us that they can not warranty the wall like we can.

Like every other industry, there are some that are choosing to cut corners and therefore giving a warranty that doesn’t cover anything and a price that reflects it.
There are also some that will really provide you with a quality product and long years of service backing up their product.
We are here for you for the long run. At any time you have issues, call us, and we will gladly get our service team out to fix any issues, especially since you have sent in your warranty card.
We want you to be "HANDS OFF" when it comes to your home transformation. You paid for it and are too busy to deal with maintenance.
That's our warranty.

After a very close examination, it is obvious that our products, installation, and warranty are very different than the bid from the company you provided us and therefore, although we would like to see a change in this industry where companies are doing the right processes and would love to match their prices, on this case we would not be able to do so. Bottom line, for us to price match other companies prices, it has to be an apples to apples match on their warranty, process, licenses, and insurance.

I signed a contract last Thursday and per CSLB have 3 days to cancel. I cancelled per CSLB requirements within those three days and they still cashed my check. I called them Monday and I was told I would get a return call but never did. I found out Tuesday they cashed my check on Monday. Now I have to pursue getting my money back for a check they should have never cashed. I will never do business with this company again.

We hired Need For Build to fix up our front yard living space. Really, we just wanted a fence and a patio. Avi came over, listened attentively to our needs and wishes, and almost instantly created a complete vision of our new outdoor oasis in his mind. For the next 9 months, Avi and his talented crews meticulously executed his plan from computer renderings to completion, adhering to the highest standards in construction and design, adapting to our many requests and changes, solving unanticipated challenges when they arose, and responding immediately to any concerns we raised. Now, an unattractive grassy slope and “patio” cobbled together with unevenly-laid pavers has become an outdoor kitchen, covered patio, firepit area, private spa area, and turf play yard. In addition, we have new stucco, windows, doors, insulation, sewer line – and even a newly tiled fireplace inside. It was refreshing to work with a professional contractor who conducts business with integrity, honesty, and transparency. Our contract was written in detail, including clear timelines for progress payments and work to be completed. Change orders were handled the same way. We did not make payments until jobs were done, and we only placed a 10% deposit to begin work, as required by law (how many other contractors have asked us for 50% or more just to start work?). We especially appreciated that nearly everyone that worked on our project is employed by Need For Build, and very little was subcontracted out, ensuring a high quality of workmanship. When there were glitches that need correction, they were handled immediately and without blame. We never heard excuses or blame-shifting. The job site was cleaned daily, the porta-potty was clean and serviced weekly, and materials were delivered on an as-needed basis, so as not to clutter our yard and driveway. Everyone who worked on our project was polite and considerate – they spoke kindly, dressed appropriately, and respected noise levels. I am a very “hands-on” customer (not the easiest kind). I am attentive to detail and not shy about pointing out flaws and sharing frustrations. I was continually impressed and comforted by Avi’s gentle demeanor, authoritative command of every aspect of construction, and fantastic eye toward design. He calmly reassured me when I got worried, patiently explained things when I had questions, and confidently guided me toward the best decisions resulting in a near-perfect, new 1500-square foot outdoor living space that is the envy of all our neighbors. I want to especially give thanks to Mario, whose skills masterfully brought our new kitchen, patio and fence to life with a touch of perfection that I could never have imagined. Today, we are beyond grateful for Avi and the entire team at Need For Build, for they have brought our run-down yard to life, enhanced the value of our home, and improved our quality of life. We cannot wait to continue working with Need For Build on our next projects, and we already know what they are! Hire this company already - you will not be disappointed!

If you want a stress free + problem free remodel (small or big) you need to contact Need For Build ASAP and make sure you ask for Nadir Avivi as your project manager! We did our recent whole house renovation beginning of 2021 and everyone warned me how much work and stress it was going to be. Honestly overall, amongst all the nightmare stories I’ve heard from friends who has gone through major renovations, I think I was really blessed. Of course no renovation is perfect but it’s how you handle it when issues arise. Most importantly how your project manager handles it when problems arise. Nadir was always attentive and never hesitated to put more resources in order to complete a task - I’ve seen other contractors being cheap about resources and this means prolonged timelines. Nope not Nadir or Need for build. They are super efficient and good with time/planning. We started our remodel Feb 01 2021 and finished in roughly 2 months. I would even say it was 90% done in 1 month but the last month is minor touch ups. We did entire kitchen, 2 bathrooms, floors, etc you name it. Our house was about 1200 sq ft. Their pricing is reasonable/fair and aligns with other contractors around the San Diego area. Sometimes your cheapest quote does not mean stress free. I really wanted this to be stress free and good quality and that is what I got! Nadir and his team (his right hand man is Raniel - who I think is one of the best guys I ever worked with) are like family to us now. We have a huge list of projects we want to do with Need for build and Nadir in the next coming months/years. I know he will always take care of us. One tiny detail I want to include, I had asked Nadir to help quote a family members remodel. The house was 2 hours outside of San Diego. But Nadir didn’t even hesitate and brought his best point of contact in that area to quote with him. Now that is service and dedication! It didn’t end up working out (they decided to just sell the house instead) but we would have gone with Nadir and Need for Build for this whole house renovation as well. This is a long review and I still have so much more good things to say. But hands down go with them and request Nadir and you won’t be sorry!!

My wife and I were looking to renovate our backyard. It was full of overgrown weeds with uneven concrete. We pretty much had no reason to ever enjoy the backyard but once Covid happened and we started staying home more, we thought it was a good time to fix up the landscape. The Need for Build team came out and gave us a fair quote to redo the landscape with turf and stamped concrete. To my surprise, they were able to start the job soon, and once they started, the crew was able to complete the job quickly. I noticed that they took the time to properly grade the concrete and reinforce it with rebar. There were a few minor hiccups, but the final product looks really good and kudos to the office for calling me after the job to talk about my experience and suggestions. My wife and I now have reason to spend time in our yard.

We met with a total of 3 contractors before deciding to go with Need For Build to build a retaining wall and replace our existing fence. Avi was very professional to deal with as was his office staff and crew and their pricing was competitive. They were all friendly and professional and the crew showed up every day on time. We had to make a couple of changes during the job all of which were handled in a timely manner and our job was actually completed ahead of schedule. I highly recommend Need for Build for indoor or outdoor projects.

Loved the outcome of our bathroom project with Need For Build! Nadir Avivi and his team surpassed our expectations. We hired Need For Build to remodel our 3 bathrooms and we are so impressed by the outcome. While they were in our house they were respectful of our home and our family's way of living. They cleaned up after themselves each day, the team is so friendly, punctual, and addressed any questions or concerns we had. Nadir was at the project often and was always in touch with his team, while being accessible to us by phone and in person. We aren't the type of people that know exactly what we want but Nadir was able to help with that too. He has many ideas, is super easy to work with, and he was very patient with us during the process. Nadir actually met us at the store and helped pick out materials when we were unsure what would work together. Once everything had been decided - he worked fast! We were a little doubtful of the timeframe he gave us to complete 3 bathrooms but he was dead on. Eight weeks it took to complete one master plus 2 regular bathrooms. We got 2 other quotes - time wise he was the shortest but we usually know things run longer (so we figured a few more weeks to what was estimated),his pricing was in the middle of the other two. Seeing pictures of his other projects plus he took us to a current project he was doing close by - I was more than confident that Nadir was the person to go with. After the project was completed we decided to do another job with Need For Build and we had our windows replaced as well. The picture shows the new windows on the bottom floor compared to the old windows on the second floor. These are Anlin windows and are energy efficient / noise reducing / and come with a lifetime warranty plus the warranty passes on to the next homeowner. The screens that come with the windows are really nice and much easier to see out of than our old ones. All in all - very happy with our choice of contractor and would easily use them again for future projects.

We had a kitchen fire last October and the entire situation was very chaotic and overwhelming for our family. We researched construction companies and came across Need For Build. We met with Rachel who arrived at our home with a reassuring and comforting smile. We discussed the project and she answered all of our questions. We shopped around a while, meeting with various contractors to assess our project. Our problem was a growing soft spot in the sub-flooring beneath our pre-fab shower tub unit. Danny came to our condominium and talked us through the entire process. His numbers and timeline were right for us, and his recommendations were sound. There was no halfassing this project, as doing so would end up costing us more money and time in the future. The Need For Build team shuffled its schedule around to complete our project, helped us select tile, fixtures, and tub, then stayed engaged throughout demo, multiple inspections, tiling, etc. We even had a hiccup with a neighbor's leaky tub, which required some extra ceiling repair (and a short delay in the project). The team was patient as we worked through this unforeseen circumstance. The outcome is a simple, clean, high-quality upgrade to our small (and only) bathroom. New plumbing, added moisture/mold protection, tiling up to the ceiling, and new fixtures, tub, and shower door. We are quite happy with the work and recommend the Need for Build team to anyone.

Hired Need for Build to redo the flooring in my new home. Jonathan was my project manager and i highly recommend them. The crew was very professional, tidy and polite. What really stood out to me is that there were no "surprise" charges after starting the project, some of floor needed to be leveled and that was already taken care of in the price. Other contractors told me we would need to start and then well know. Honesty is hard to find these days, and this company is a breath of fresh air.

5 Starts for sure!! When starting to look into a kitchen remodel, i encountered many different stories about the things that went wrong for people and how stressful the process is. I had 2 different contractors give me quotes before need for build came by. From the initial meeting I know that this was the company for me. Avi, my project manager, was very knowledgeable, gave me options which no other contractor did and paid close attention to my end goal was. This was I decided to hire them. From the initial 3D design which allowed me to see the different tile, counter and flooring, there was an emphasis on making my completely satisfied with my choices. Avi was here visiting the project everyday, the crew was polite and tidy, inspections passed on time and everything was seamless. The entire process was just as they promised "A fun experience". After extensively researching landscapers since my past bad expiriences with different landscapers I found Danny with "Need to build" and decided to give him a call requesting a bid to have our front flower beds completely revamped, and boy am I glad I did! His initial response was within 24hrs and he met my wife and I at our home ON TIME lol. My wife and I are both in the Medical industry and appreciate when someone follows through on a scheduled time. After our meeting we had a very professional cad drawing of our property that showed what he had in store for our landscaping. I can rant and rave about his work but I feel the before and after picture will suffice. Great work Danny we greatly appreciate your and your crew professionalism and desire to please your clients. I hired Avi and Need for build to do my bathroom and I am so glad I did. Their service and professionalism was amazing. They pulled all the necessary permits, came with me to choose the design of the tile and the crew was clean and tidy. Avi checked in on the guys at lease once a day and ensured that the project was moving along in a timely manner. I highly recommend them!

I need to give a well deserved review for Danny and his team at Need for Build. This is the first remodel my husband and I have done and Danny was with us every step of the way. We reached out to a few companies and Danny was the one we knew we had to go with. He made us feel so comfortable and guided us each and every day. He has multiple projects going on, but you would never know that based on his involvement and quick response time. Even my 10 year old said he wanted to go with Danny! What sets them a part is the fact that you receive a quote the day Danny comes out to view your project. This cuts down on time and allows you to start your project right away. I truly feel like he is part of the family. We were so impressed with Jose as well. He managed our project and was there, on time, each time he said he would be. We had piece of mind knowing we were getting high quality work done. We have already decided to start our next project and of course we chose Need for Build to complete the work. I have attached pictures of our guest bathroom remodel. Thank you Danny and team, we love you!!!!!
