No complaints after doing a major project on our home. M&K was great from start to finish. We did a rather large job of replacing a deck with a patio, getting our amp panel up to 200 amps from 100, resurfacing our hardwood floors, replacing carpet in the basement, painting the interior, and doing a full remodel on a hall bathroom and kitchen. The crew was efficient and hard working and even finished a tiny bit early. My wife and I would highly recommend working with them.

We had our master bathroom renovated by M&K about 2 years ago. We had many issues at the time, but were so happy to have a finished product that we tried to put the problems during construction behind us. And there were many—staff not so considerate of other home spaces-- a new hire who was very nice but a bit sloppy --started to repair drywall to cover access space to bathtub and didn’t bother to tell us and didn’t think to remove the pictures on the same wall to avoid the dust getting into the pictures. We had vintage soap dishes near counter sinks and wanted to keep them. Worker didn’t bother to cover them so that we were left with construction residue that was very difficult to clean and still is not smooth as it was before construction. They put a ladder against a shelf and damaged the shelf, leaving it as it was until foreman saw and instructed the workers to repair it. Worker insisted that hook for the back of bathroom door had to be very high, since this was "standard". I am short and wanted it lower. Only when the foreman got involved was that rectified. Many other odds and ends. The caulk on the countertop didn’t last even a year. M&K did return to re-caulk, but we’ve continued to have problems with it. As we’ve lived with the renovation over the past 2 years, the flaws are obvious. Workers dropped tools on the floor, causing chips. M&K had to send another worker to remove damaged tiles, but we were still left with dings on other tiles. The niche is the sloppiest niche we’ve seen. We see sleek, lovely niches on Houzz. Ours is functional but clunky and not very attractive. We had used beveled tile for the wall, but said that we would find flat tile for the niche. Workers insisted that they had to use pieces of countertop quartz. It looks chunky and not fluid, as we see on other niches. The grouting on it is also sloppy and clunky. And most importantly, they neglected to look at the grab bar before they tiled the shower wall. When they finally looked, they saw that the bar needed to be installed into a stud, then tiled over that. With the wall finished, we were out one grab bar. In retrospect, we should have insisted that they open the wall and install the bar. At this point, we can’t have one installed, since it would necessitate opening too much shower wall to locate studs. And it would be much safer and nicer to have the grab bar. We wish that we had chosen a different contractor.

It’s been two since completion and we’re still finding lack of details throughout our basement. We had high hopes signing a contract for finishing our basement with this company after interviewing many contractors. In the end, we received a product with a lack of attention to detail and a very surprising and abrupt end of project “cut off” call from the owner himself. Overall, the basement “looks nice”, but BEWARE if you’re a customer who is looking for someone who pays attention to details. They subcontract their drywall/mudding/painting to “professionals” that affected the end product look (dents/dings on walls, painting over baseboard, bleeding of primer, sloppy paint transitions, no covering of personal items/broken item, etc.) We were more than accommodating and tried to be as friendly as possible with all the contractors that set foot on our property (including buying them refreshments and lunches!) The owner claimed we were “knit picky” and “holding up” closure of the project! We had no idea when the basement would be finished and basically just had it dropped in our laps. We were told it would take 3-4 weeks, instead it took 8-9 weeks. We actually “glossed over” many of the issues we saw in the basement and only brought up the major issues, but apparently the owner doesn’t take criticism well. It’s a shame because in all honesty, everyone that was directly from M&K Renovations that we worked with were all professional/courteous and friendly. We only disagreed with the “project manager” (Asa Carr) which was their “yes” man appointed as our liaison between the contractors and any issues that arose. Issues that took repeated requests to either be fulfilled or completely ignored. As customers, we didn’t know if the project was taking more than their allotted time, but we also didn’t feel that we were to blame when we repeatedly brought up issues and towards the end their in house contractors had to fix most of the issues. In conclusion, the end product will visually look well in pictures, but if attention to detail is important, please pass. The owner is rude and doesn’t care about customers, he became offended and placed blame on his clients instead of the subcontractors that I’m almost positive he’s never even met or seen their work (it was horrible). I’ve included only 4 pictures out of the countless things I’ve found in my basement, if Houzz allowed more than 4, I would display all of their “fine handwork”.

We hired M&K to gut & remodel our neglected 200 year old basement and our shower from the '70s. Both needed some serious attention and as this was our first renovation, we were pretty nervous. We are extremely pleased with the outcome and the process. John, our main point of contact, was so patient with our constant questions. He was always quick to respond and was always knowledgeable and kind. He and the rest of the M&K team were trusted advisors to us the entire time; they treated us with respect and they always delivered on their commitments. We would highly recommend them for any project and look forward to working with them again someday. Thanks John & team!

M&K did a major kitchen remodel, painting, floor refinishing and many other projects in my home. They are a great team and a pleasure to work with. Chris, the project manager was always available to answer questions. Every team member was polite courteous and very talented! Thank you!

I hired M & K Reno not only because I’d heard good things about the company but bc I needed some professionals to expand two closets in my garage, tear out carpet and replace with hardwood on my stairs to the second floor and to replace my old countertops in my kitchen with granite. WOW! What a difference a professional job makes! The closets in the garage came out beautiful! I didn’t realize how much I needed that extra space! The removal of my old carpet replaced with hardwood made all the difference and the countertops are gorgeous! The guys who came out to do the work were always on time and very friendly and if I had any questions about the dates to start and finish or any questions about the work in general Mike and/or Jeff were always available to answer them. I highly recommend M & K!

I contacted M&K Renovations for an estimate to repair, clean, and stain my deck in addition to cutting a doorway and hanging a door on the side of my detached cinder block garage. Michael, the owner, came out a couple of days later, took copious notes on the work to be done, and sent me a fair estimate, which I accepted without hesitation. The work began promptly at 8 am on the agreed upon day and was completed the following day. The crew wasn’t satisfied initially with the coverage of the deck stain, so they arranged for a coworker from another job site to stop by in the late afternoon and apply an additional coat. The final result was a deck that looks nearly brand new and a side entrance to my garage, which I have been wanting for the past 30 years. I was impressed not only with the technical skills of the workmen, but also by how professional, courteous, and respectful they were at all times. The projects turned out great and it was a real pleasure working with them.

Used M&K for multiple one day projects. Was happy with the work in 2017 and am still happy with the work done.

We have used M&K for years for anything that we need performed here in our old home - inside or out. Painting, refinishing hardwood floors, new doors and windows, sidewalk and driveway repairs - just to name a few. They can do anything and stand behind their work. We trust them inside our home to work when we are not here. I cannot recommend them more highly.

Overall they did an excellent job focused on making sure we were happy with the end product and work. Michael, Chris, Hugo, Mike, and their other team members were extremely positive, respectful, and patient with us. My wife and I had high expectations, and they were very responsive in a positive way to our requests, addressing significant hidden challenges along the way with minimal extension of time/cost. For example, the toilet needed moved and when they opened the floor, we found the cast iron sewer pipe “T” was cracked and had to be replaced. The plumber and Michael quickly quoted the extra work to replace it and went ahead with our approval...quite a massive job but done quickly at a fantastic price. At the end of the job, my wife noticed the toilet wasn’t level (it was off about 3/16 the of an inch). Chris’s team went to adjust it and found the toilet was cracked near the mounting point. They ordered a new toilet and replaced it at their cost. Their bid for all the work was even the best of the multiple we got. Everything looks great!

It went very well considering it was a complicated situation. M&K saved us money and time by rebuilding the mold/water damaged kitchen cabinets and laying our new kitchen floor. Our kitchen looks just like it did before the work, which is exactly what we wanted. M&K also coordinated all the remediation services w/ other contractors for the mold damage, which were extensive. They were always available by phone and text for the numerous questions we had and took care of our needs expediently!! We would and have highly recommended their services to our friends and neighbors.

M&K we're such a great local find! Mike and Asa were always on time when we met them for our estimate and for any update meetings. Their on-sight crew was friendly and polite and Chris always kept us updated on the job, daily. We had a concrete basement and they installed new flooring, a new drop ceiling, new bathroom and added some new closets. Front and back concrete porches were repainted and they replaced the rusty railing with a cool black PVC (no painting). All done in three weeks. All quality work. They emphasized a stress-free experience and they delivered on all counts. I also like that they are a local, family run business with community roots. So, if any adjustments or tweaks are needed on something, I know they are near and happy to come by. I would certainly recommend them for any type of home improvement.

They did an outstanding job! Enlarged master bathroom making it double sink. Very easy to work with. Loved them so much that they’re now redoing our master bedroom closets, pulled up carpet and stained hardwood. Always on time. Need I say more?
