We have an old but wonderful house. Jack has done a number of projects in the past including adding on an addition to our living room. The work was outstanding and matched perfectly the character of the house, both inside and out. Our recent job was a major repair to our upstairs bathroom shower. His attention to detail and demand for excellence came through once again. We highly recommend Jack Stabb General Building Contractor.

Jack Stabb is a stand up guy who is an absolute pleasure to work with on any project, but his specialty is commercial TI work and residential additions. He completed a commercial new build project for us (warm restaurant shell) from the studs and we were very happy with Jack and his team. He is meticulous, organized, takes pride in his work, is thoughtful, keeps his word, and ALWAYS answers his phone. He collaborated well with with our engineers and designers and always was able to provide them with quick answers and good detail. He adapted easily to changes and was a sophisticated problem solver throughout the project. His contracts are clear and well planned, resulting in no budgetary surprises, despite the size and scope of the project. Jack is, of course, an extremely skilled carpenter and craftsman, but also has a good understanding of all the trades he works alongside. His team is courteous and fun, and we would hire him again in a heartbeat.

Jack Stabb has performed two projects for my wife and me, an architect-designed covered carport several years ago, and the recent repair of a fifty-year-old bridge between the carport and our home. Both projects were performed by Jack and his highly professional crew with care and precision. Jack uses top grade lumber and building materials, and he and his crew do it right the first time.

We met Jack in 2014 through the recommendation of the architect of our 1st project, a 3 month bathroom teardown and remodel. Jack setup an excellent dust-control with zippered plastic, that still allowed his workers easy access. He was always here for the major transitions like demo, plumbing, electrical, corian and fixtures, mudding, painting, and onsite several days during the week. He even did the floor tiling himself. We could see that Jack takes a great deal of pride in the craftsmanship of the work, and we've been very happy with the upgrade. In 2018 we worked with the same architect to design a backyard ADU. Construction was delayed by Covid shutdown, but in a leap of optimism in spring of 2021, we had Jack start. We knew it would be difficult, as he had to assemble a new crew from scratch under tight labor availibilty, and materials were getting ever more difficult to find. Jack & I agreed I would be flexible on material costs and schedule. To minimize disturbance to the neighbors, demolition of existing structures was done by hand. This was the 1st construction job for several of the crew, and Jack closely supervised and trained them. Jack handled the numerous dump boxes, and dealt with the unplanned engagement of a hazmat company after a city inspection found asbestos in the old structure. A perimeter foundation was used for one new structure, and a slab for the other; Jack's crew did all the earth work for both, including french drainage. When the concrete pumper trucks came in for the pours, it was like a big party as the concrete guys had worked with Jack before; Jack did a lot of the hose work himself, while directing his guys to get out the air bubbles. Jack and his crew did all the framing, insulation, and exterior wrap. At the same time Jack was coordinating the plumbers, painters, and electrician trades, and scheduling tile, hardwood, roofing, and corian deliveries. There were some crew turnovers, but Jack was able to keep a core team working together. I think he treated all of his crew with respect; he really made efforts to get them all vaccinated. Issues did arise with the cathedral ceiling design, and drainage. Jack was able to work with the architect, engineer, and city to find solutions, and keep me informed as well. We've been very happy with the new structures. They look beautiful, inside and out, and we saw the care taken during the construction.

Jack Stabb has been our general building contractor for 30 years. He has built four beautiful commercial spaces for us over the years. He does excellent work, he is very thorough, he communicates well and each time I have been extremely happy with the outcome. Our current location was converted from an old unoccupied bank into a custom-built physical therapy space. I highly recommend Jack Stabb.

We hired Jack to help us assess a fixer-upper we were considering and he gave us the confidence to walk away from it. It's immediately clear when you interact with Jack that he is a professional (for example, he showed up to the viewing with notes on the disclosure and an agenda) and that he's seen it all. Having someone with his expertise scrutinize the disclosure and the home itself was so worth it and we are looking forward to hiring him again in the future, hopefully as homeowners!

Jack Stabb is a professional, reliable and responsive contractor that provides high quality work. He is easy to work with, on time, returns phone calls and is a problem solver. He keeps you informed regarding project progress, schedule, and who and when workers will be at the job site. Jack also keeps clear records regarding owner requested change orders vs. items included in the original project bid cost. Because of his years of experience in the Oakland/Montclair area, Jack has developed strong relationships with reliable subcontractors who also share his vision and values with regard to quality of work and professionalism. Jack has completed several large residential improvement projects for me including: a complete kitchen demolition, expansion and remodel; bathroom remodel; family and bedroom remodels; and multi-story redwood deck demolition and replacement (including all framing and bracing). Jack recently completed a deck repair for us and did an outstanding job. We have worked with Jack in the past on both large and relatively small projects like our recent deck work. Jack came highly recommended from close personal friends and he has always done an outstanding job. We have an older home in the Crocker Highlands area of Oakland. We decided a number of years ago to put an addition on our house and called Jack. His work has always been impeccable with an attention to detail that is truly outstanding. I remember talking with his team one day to thank them for the great work and one man said "this is a Jack Stabb job and therefore nothing but the best". We love our house but as with any older home there can be imperfections. The addition matched perfectly with the house, and we could not have been more pleased with the outcome. Jack and his team did an excellent job with my modest kitchen refresh and storage room conversion to a laundry room. He took great care of our mid-century modern home and effectively troubleshot any issues that came up. The site was always clean and I was never concerned with safety or his care of my house. He is very professional and knows his craft. The permit process was smooth and all work was signed off completely. Jack kept us apprised of the schedule and provided us with detailed records. His finish work was great with virtually no punch list. I will definitely call Jack for my next project.

Jack and I have been working on my little mid century modern house for over 25 years. Once I discovered Jack I never bothered contacting another contractor. He and his crew are, thorough, clean, organized and professional. Jack is very experienced and always clever coming up with solutions to all kinds all kinds of construction puzzles.
