Colleen Steinmann

Embassy Construction recently completed renovation of an old, enclosed side porch into a work shop for my husband and a beautiful 1st floor bathroom. Our home was built in 1886 and this room was in need of a lot of help. Everyone that worked on this project, from demolition to the finishing touches, were ultimate professionals. It was completed on time and we are really enjoying our new rooms. Thank you Mike and everyone at Embassy for making this so easy for us. We're already making plans for our next project!

We found Embassy workers friendly and patient with the many questions we asked them. The work was done professionally and efficiently. We were given needed advice concerning the ceiling beams in the kitchen and dining room. The new beams they constructed gave the area that extra touch of class that pulled it all together beautifully. The flooring is something we've waited a long time for. We were pleased to continue it into our Living room. It all flows together so nicely. We will keep Embassy Construction in mind when we move on to do our bathroom.

I recently had the pleasure of working with Embassy Construction and their team, led by Mike Vondal, on a major home renovation project. My wife and I decided to add a master bedroom suite and multiple home offices to our home in Dubuque, IA, as well as a screened porch. From start to finish, the team at Embassy Construction exceeded our expectations in every way. Mike was a pleasure to work with and was always available to answer our questions and address any concerns we had. He was extremely knowledgeable and professional, and his team followed his lead in delivering top-quality work. The entire process went smoothly and efficiently, and we were extremely impressed with the attention to detail and craftsmanship of the finished product. The new addition and screened porch are absolutely beautiful and have transformed our home. We highly recommend Embassy Construction and Mike Vondal to anyone in need of home renovation work. Mike and his crew did a fantastic remodel on my entire main floor. They are extremely talented, prompt, professional and flexible. I am not the easiest of clients and threw lots of changes throughout the project. They easily accommodated the changes without any objections. I honestly cannot say enough good things about Embassy. If you're looking for a remodel, I would not look anywhere else (I should know, I went through nearly every contractor in Dubuque before picking Embassy).

If we could add a sixth star to this review, we'd do so in a heartbeat. The entire Embassy crew is incredible - they're true craftspeople who care deeply about the work they do. Every step of the way, they took the time to talk through options and offer guidance and support. We felt informed and listened to - and they worked expertly and efficiently to execute even the smallest project details. Plus, our dog absolutely loved every single member of the team. I don't know why you'd need to know that in a professional review, but here we are. Seriously. This is the crew to call. Six stars.

Mike and his crew are great! From beginning to end Mike was knowledgeable, helpful, efficient and paid close attention to detail. As homeowners who don’t know very much about remodeling, Mike was able to explain the best materials to use in our new home that were cost effective and would hold up the best in our home long term. Kevin was at our home nearly every day during the project and did a great job with our flooring, painting, trimming, and perfecting the details. They were flexible and worked with us with any changes or new ideas along the way with no trouble. Can’t recommend the embassy team enough! The Embassy Crew were exceptional in every way! I was referred by a friend, and couldn't be happier with the job they did for us. Mike's finish carpentry skills and the detail put into creating a custom headboard from antique barn wood were clearly evident. The work is truly eye-catching. our project was adding a 4 seasons room, and a covered patio to the rear of our home. Mike and the crew at Embassy did a great job. They were always willing to work with us on all the 'we might as well do this too' things that come up over the course of a job like this. The crew was always exceptionally friendly and helpful. Mike did a good job explaining things, and keeping us in the loop on the status of where things stood. He offered many suggestions based upon his experience, which I am certain improved the overall project. The entire team has a great attention to detail that really makes the end result shine. We could not be happier with our new room, or the experience we had using Embassy Construction.

I hired Embassy Construction to do a mini remodel in my kitchen. I needed new countertops, a bigger kitchen window, a new exhaust fan and subway tile backsplash. They were prompt in responding and listened carefully to what I wanted. Kevin Welsh was the man who did all the work. He showed up on time and as promised and cleaned up after himself daily. The primary reason I hired this crew was the reputation that things were done correctly. They delivered. What started with a well defined project scope immediately uncovered a substantial number of hidden surprises. These were all dealt with and repaired correctly to a state better than the original construction and options discussed. The before and after pictures are impressive enough from an outside view, but knowing the extra details that went into not just appearance, but water mitigation and proper construction techniques, was exactly what I expected and got. Probably the most impressive part of this experience was Mike and Kevin's understanding of how to balance aesthetics and functionality between what I asked for and what was a potentially better solution. I had detailed plans and some of the adjustments and proposals they came up with on the fly (that were all run by me first), resulted in a superior end product.

Mike met with us several times before the job began to go over all the details. The living room and kitchen were both talked about by my husband and me for years in advance as far as what we hoped to eventually have done. From the brick chimney to the stairs and rail system and custom cabinets, everything looks how we envisioned it. It was a total gut job! We did not plan on remodeling our upstairs bathroom but when major issues were discovered in ceiling we decided it would be best in the long-run to just do it now and we are happy we did.
