BNH did a great cosmetic job on my basement. Unfortunately they installed faulty pipes in my basement and now the pipes are banging, knocking, and making a popping sound. When I reached out to them about this safety issue. It was just brushed away and there was no real concern. Now I have to hire another company to open my entire ceiling and the bathroom where they did all the plumbing and come out of pocket 12,000 dollars. In addition my floors are uneven and I stub my toe and cannot slide things on the floor as they get stuck on the raised planks. They installed a brand new medicine cabinet in the brand new bathroom they built, which fell off of the wall onto my pregnant wife while she was home alone trying to clean. This work was completed over a month ago and they are not willing to open my walls to fix the problem. There was NEVER any problems with my plumbing until Adam Chen and his unlicensed crew installed the new pipes. Never hire this company. He will give you a run around, until he gets his money and then he will leave you with new problems that he created. Beware!!!

Adam was professional, easy to work with and his team does great work! I will definitely collaborate with him again on future projects and highly recommend him to others.

They were very knowledgeable and timely. The work was done before their estimate. They were very responsive and listened to our needs as well as have advice on how to proceed. We had to add a kitchen to one floor of our house and update other parts including a bathroom. Everything went smoothly and we always felt they were honest and fair. Pricing was reasonable.

Working with BnH was the stuff renovation nightmares are made of. They came to us highly recommended from a neighbor and we had a great first meeting with Adam who gave us a great quote, so we decided to move forward. But, unbeknownst to us, he outsourced our apartment to the most imcompetent crew ever. On day one, while we were traveling overseas, the crew caused a leak so bad it required fixing our neighbor's apartment and our entire building's Foyer ceiling. It also ruined things we had stored out in our living room. They also flat out lied to us about the extent of the damage and what exactly happened, but we didn't find out we were lied to until weeks later. One day in, our building notified us that Adam and his company would be band from all future renovations. And that was just the beginning. By the time they finished our bathroom tiling, and we checked on it, we were horrified. The grout was already cracked, tiles were all chipped, there were giant gaps between the tiles where the grout was already fallen through, and every single tile was crooked and uneven in all directions. Also, our appliances were already damaged. It was truly the most ghastly job we had seen. We went over how terrible it was with the crew and they barely seemed to even recognize it as shoddy work, and upon trying to fix some spots, only made everything worse. They redid it 2 more times but and still could not get to a professional level work. A 4 week renovation turned into 12 weeks. They also installed damaged closet doors, ruined our brand new vanity, installed things upside down, and used cheap, chipped, damaged pine planks for both our door frames and floor baseboard moulding, without approval from us, so that our apartment looked worse than a clubhouse. Nothing was flush or straight (even our outlets are crooked). Our new bathroom floor tiles are scuffed and look 10 years old (not to mention there are tiles missing). Our new drywalls are uneven and lumpy. Everything was banged up. We could fit our entire hand behind the doorframe and the wall. And they thought this was professional work. And somehow, despite the fact they were never supposed to touch our kitchen, they ruined our refrigerator and we had to buy a new one. Things in our apartment that had nothing to do with the renovation are also damaged. We had to have someone else come just to fix our new sink drain. We had one color of white to use and they couldn't even get that right, so now some walls have two different whites on them! We finally had to Adam and his team to finish the basic things and then we kicked them out. When a handyman came back later to finish some things, they unscrewed our light switch plate and found that instead of using proper electrical materials, they had shoved it with cardboard! Now, months later, our bathroom grout has fallen out leaving giant gaps, we have new cracks in the walls of the bathroom and bedrooms, and the new wood floors they installed have gaps between the planks. They literally did not do a single thing right. I often think we would have been better off not renovating at all. Between all the damages, the bad communication and a stubbornness to admit how terrible of a job they were doing, I don't think we could have had a worst renovation experience. Stay away from Adam and BnH at all costs. The affordability is appealing but I would do anything to go back and hire someone else.

We did a gut renovation in a very large, very old bathroom. Adam and his team were professional and did a great job. We especially liked that they came consistently throughout the construction period, worked neatly, and followed our game plan to the letter. They were also helpful around materials, which we purchased ourselves but needed advice on. I had a moment at the end of the project where I was nitpicking grout, and they came back twice to address my (miniscule) issues, without complaining or charging us. Adam was also responsive on email and text, which goes a long way. A month in, the bathroom looks and feels great. I'd use them again.

The renovation job was quick and wonderful. They renovated a full basement within 5 weeks. I will use Bnh Home Improvemnt every time. I will post pictures very soon. Thanks Adam and your team for the great job that you did!!!!!.

Adam has a team of skilled craftsmen (including his father, who is amazing) who can help modify your home to your specifications. It is important to have a vision of what you want and to communicate it clearly to Adam and crew, and to review things regularly and frequently as his work progresses to ensure that things go smoothly. He was able to open a wall, completely re-do a kitchen, wire my whole house with Ethernet, TV and Fiber, add lots of power outlets, add 10 units of split system HVAC, replace all my windows and an exterior door, etc.

Adam and his team did an amazing job renovating my kitchen. They were efficient, skilled and always accessible, offering valuable input throughout. I would highly recommend BNH for whatever renovation you are planning.

This company does great work.The workers showed up on time every morning and worked from 8:30 until 6:00.They cleaned up every day after work Adam(bass/owner) was always available to answer any questions I might have.I would not hesitate to recommend them to anyone.I will certainly call them for my next project.

After reading many reviews on Houzz and interviewed several contractors, my family decided to go with BNH. From our initial meetings with Adam and Richard, things seemingly were off to a good start. They were clear of timeline of the project, understood what we wanted to get done within our budget and communication was good. As the previous reviewer mentioned , they’re nice guys and were accessible to clarify and explain anything that was unclear with the scope of work. Moving to the actual renovation phase - since we were not available to be on-site during the reno, most of the communication with the crew was over text or phone if there were questions . The plan was to stop by the apartment each evening after our day jobs and follow up with them by phone with any questions or to get an update on what was accomplished for the day. It was clear after the first week that the working crew was left unsupervised and done by unskilled workers with little experience in the trade. They paid no attention to detail and work was sloppy. Since we had little experience ourselves, we spent countless nights researching DIY videos to correct them ourselves but we were prettily much at the mercy of the project having invested so much already into the project. The laundry list of issues throughout the project was extensive and we are living with some of them still today. Needless to say that no matter how much due diligence and preparation can be done when finding the right contractor for your project, it’s important to recognize and pay attention to the red flags early on to avoid costly mistakes like we have. Leaving a few pics representative of the “quality” and issues we dealt with - some minor while others pretty difficult to overlook. If you do hire BNH, be prepared to stay on top of your project and don’t be shy to ask questions if the work done is unclear. After all , you will need to live with the outcome long after the project is over ...

Adam is a genuinely nice guy with great intentions. His pricing was by far the most competitive of the bids I received, but his communication and attention to detail were so very lacking at every step of the process, largely as a result of being stretched far too thin re manpower and management. As a result, timelines were quickly thrown out, multiple issues discovered, and some genuinely sloppy work completed that I didn't fully comprehend until it was too late (ie: I still cannot get cold water in my kitchen). I would only hire them again for a very straightforward project.

BNH Home Improvement did an outstanding job for the renovation project we did for our new apartment on the Upper West Side. We couldn't be happier with how our apartment turned out. BNH was highly recommended by another tenant in our new building. Richard was our project manager. While another company estimated three weeks for the work, BNH estimated one week and was able to complete it, plus some work we added on, in a week. The team was very efficient, which saved us money and hassle as we were able to move in on time. We had two walls put up, the whole apartment painted, our brick fireplace repointed, recessed lights added, and ceiling fans installed. The new walls are great as they blend in perfectly as if they were always there. The fireplace looks so much better due to the repointing. Richard worked well with us to accommodate specific preferences we had, including composite wood doors for the new walls and soft LED lighting. Pricing was good. We found the team easy to work with. We would definitely work with BNH again. From speaking with friends and family, it seems that it is rare to find contractors that work so efficiently.
