At Scot-Build we specialize in providing an exceptional service of quality and craftsmanship to every home build, additions and renovations completed. We are original Scottish Longhouse / Nordic / Northern European Builders. We have 40 years of experience (2024) within home building and in the commercial field. Examples of the work we perform with an average cost base: Custom New Home Starting at $900,000 to $3.5 Million Whole Home Renovations $200,000 to $750,000 From sixteen years of age, becoming an apprentice carpenter in the Royal Burgh of Linlithgow (Scotland) was the start of a long career. Once Scott became a fully time served journeyman at the age of 20 years old. It was time to start his own company. Providing services to large corporate construction companies from hospitals, offices to housing it was the beginning of a love affair to the construction industry. As time and experience progressed, attention turned in purchasing existing properties. Bringing them back to life and a high standard and offering them for sale. Also the purchase of brown field sites, gaining building permissions and building luxury homes was not uncommon. Moving to Ontario, Canada in 2007 with his family. Scott started working with a local custom home builder to learn the Canadian methods, meet local trades etc. In 2008, Scot-Build Developments Inc was formed. The company is now becoming a family affair with son Ben now becoming a full certified carpenter / site manager. Looking forward in another 30 years of growth and experience. We had the pleasure of working with Scotbuild on a new longhouse build in the Collingwood area. After seeing Scott’s own place, we were impressed with the clean, simple design, and utilized one of his template floorplans, tweaking and customizing it to our needs and site. Scott and his core team - Ben, Bryan and Quincy - were an absolute pleasure to work with. The site was always left neat and tidy, and the guys were quick with texting us visuals as needed to keep everyone on the same page when we couldn’t be onsite. Scott’s communication is prompt and unfailingly courteous and calm, and his team of trades all clearly respect him, which shows up in the quality of their work. It is telling that every subcontractor who came to site made some variation of the comment “Scotbuild places are always bulletproof.” Our finished home is just what we envisioned, and the high caliber of craftsmanship is evident throughout. Thank you Scott and team!

Scott was highly recommended to us. Our experience from our first consultation meeting to the completion of our house was extremely positive. The respect he has from all the trades is evident and a result of his building knowledge and expertise. Scott is a hands on builder overseeing every step. Two years after completion, Scott is still readily available to answer any question we may have. It’s a testament to the process that we still consider Scott a friend. We highly recommend him and would build with him again without hesitation.

Scott Young and the terrific Scot-Build crew have just completed a beautiful "new build" for us, start to finish, and we cannot imagine having a better building experience. Scott himself combines old-school and old-world craft ethics with knowledge of the latest building techniques and sustainable/environmental building practices, and has a savvy design sense (check out magazine and TV coverage of his own house) . He is resourceful and ingenious, and has the equanimity and sense of humour to steer everyone (including the owners!) through the inevitable ups and downs of a big project. The job was very professionally managed, and the site was well-organized and well-run. We had heard from previous clients of Scot-Build that Scott is particularly skilled at budgeting, and this was true. The detailed budget was costed out down to the sub-trades and any cost overruns were the result of agreed-upon changes during the build process. The job was delivered in the time frame anticipated with the exception of some extreme-weather delays. The firm is big enough to have a stable crew (meticulous workers, good problem solvers, super-pleasant guys), and the local tradespeople brought in for specific jobs (tiling, cabinetry, stonework, etc.) all were excellent at their work. This is an A+++ recommendation. We would be delighted to supply more detailed references and could be contacted through Scot-Build.

Easy to work with, very few issues arose but when they did they were quickly and professionally resolved or dealt with. Scott's primary crew were pleasant, professional and worked hard. Any sub trades brought in were again very good to excellent. When we were sent to material suppliers to pick products and identified who we were working with we would always hear the comment " you are working with one of the good contractors", we came to the same conclusion. It should also be noted that throughout a very extensive renovation, Scott's crew and sub contractors were very accommodating to the fact that "we lived on site". The renovation was completed with very few surprises and within the budget forecast.

Often you hear horror stories associated with Building a property but we managed to come out from under ours unscathed. Scot-Build, Scott Young & Team exceeded expectations. They bring a lot to the table from creative design and workmanship. Talented Trades people are at a premium in The Blue Mountain region and Scott’s team was 2nd to none. This became apparent because of the mutual respect between Builder & Trades Person. Compliments to Scott as even the tough conversations ended well with logical solutions. His team remained focused on the completion date without compromising workmanship. Scott & team are true professionals and we’re very pleased with the end result and equally appreciative on how diligent they’ve been with any issue’s we’ve had with the property after move in. Building a home is an arduous task for all parties but if we venture that direction a 2nd time Scot-Build will be our first call. Scott, Brian, Ben, Josh & Dan- Cheers to you Doug & Lori Patterson

After having a stressful and expensive experience with a different builder for our addition, we were lucky enough to find these wonderful fellows to completely renovate our house. With this team, house building was a wonderful experience where we felt part of the process and involved. I would highly recommend Scott and his team. These men are kind, helpful, and full of great ideas to make a project move along smoothly. When these fellows show up and start work you can see the changes happen so fast! An excellent experience that moved quickly and was fairly priced. A big thank you to the whole Scot-Build team!

We had hired Scot-Build to provide a sliding barn door to separate our kitchen and sun room. Although we had a good idea of how we wanted the door to look, the insight and experience of the proprietor not only resulted in an improvement in the design of the door but also for the layout of the wall that we were renovating and the way the door was to be hung. The suggestions were made in a professional manner as was the entire working experience with Scot-Build. The project turned out better than our original plan, was on-time and on-budget. We would highly recommend Scot-Build for similar projects.

From our first meeting on the project we were thrilled by the positive impact and suggestions made by Scott and his team. They brought some fantastic ideas and imagination that animated our concept and enhanced the final outcome. During construction, work was completed at an impressive pace and the site was always tidy and safe. Scott doesn’t see problems he only see’s solutions. When changes were made to our initial concept it was thoroughly thought through, options were discussed and priced in advance. We were thrilled with the outcome. We had both tight timelines and budgets that were all met. We look forward to working with Scott again in the future when further projects are required.

"They say renovating can be one of the most stressful experiences of your life. But Scott, the owner of Scot-Build, and his team of professional trades, makes the experience 100 times less stressful, and actually enjoyable. Scott thinks of absolutely everything, makes you feel very special as the client, taken care of. He never lets you down. He is genuine, and his work is exceptional. Plus, Scott makes it fun. Great sense of humour and you can't help but love the Scottish accent. Our renovation and addition was a big project and was completed over the span of two years. I am happy to report that Scott was consistent throughout --- solid, dependable, honest, loyal, and trustworthy. If you think of the best characteristics a human can possess, Scott has them. Truly a great leader. His trades: very professional and caring. Small things make a big difference too: They remove their boots before entering the finished house, and they sweep up the dust when they complete a job. Small details, big difference. If I ever build again, (but I won't because Scot-Build did such a great job) I will be using Scot-Build."

Scot-build did a renovation on my 100 year old country home. Scot and his crew were amazing , they came in on budget and on time ! ( that was a first for me,) the crew was pro and they cared about my home , the work done has been put though the test of time and everything works perfectly, Thank you Scot-build for the stress free revocation !looking forward to working with you again in the future.:). Comentado: Love the countertop - who is the mfg and what is the name ?It is a grey quartz stone. Looks almost 3 dimensional due to the quartz within giving it depth.
