Two Itinerant Artisans

Peter Walls and his colleague were awarded the faux finishes state contract for the Louisiana landmark Old Governor's Mansion during this building's 90s restoration. This landmark, built by Governor Huey P. Long in 1929, is a smaller replica of The White House. Peter transformed the East Room, the Foyer, the Grand Stairway, the Jimmie Davis Room into a palatial monument with their talent and paint. To this day visitors think they are surrounded by marble, that they are looking at gold plated trim, and that they are within a jewel box, Wonderful artist and gentleman. Many thanks Peter! We hired Peter to complete a kitchen makeover on our home and since I have always loved Italy, we decided to go with a Tuscan theme. He helped us choose the best colors to go with our furniture and cabinets. Each step of the way, Peter was there to answer questions and calm my nerves from the changes. I trusted him to make the best decisions and after numerous consults, we decided to paint the cabinets as well. The venetian plaster on the kitchen walls transported me to a different place and it was truly amazing. He recommended changes that in other areas that we implemented to truly transform our home. Peter's artistic vision, ability to work with the client to make the best choice for them, and his flexibility are what drew us to him. He has wonderful art, has worked on so many amazing homes, and even with a smaller job he did marvelous things for us. We are truly looking forward to hiring Peter & Allegra for our next home to help us make it into "our" home!

Peter Walls is a pleasure to work with. He’s artistically talented, professional, practical, and thorough, remembering to follow up on little details. Peter has a great color sense, and he is both willing to make recommendations and to yield to a client’s preferences. With faux painting, we found that Peter planned well ahead—preparing samples for our review—and then executed painting the powder room and the library ceiling beautifully, quickly and cleanly, leaving no splatters, spray or other “mess” behind! We were lucky enough to have both Peter and Allegra work together to “dress” the library shelves with on-hand books, photos and other objects, completing the room tastefully and artistically. We will miss having them in our area but wish them well in their future endeavors in Maine.

Peter is an artist and a professional who produces work of the highest quality and is a pleasure to work with. My husband and I highly recommend him! The kitchen in the home that we bought had not been updated since it was built in the 1970s. Peter Walls suggested that we use a mud faux finish to cover the hideous dark brown and light blue flowered wall paper. The mud finish is beautiful! Peter Walls is a very talented trustworthy artist. I have worked on at least a dozen projects with Peter, all of which were very well received and led to other projects as well. Very kind understanding and enthusiastic. Cannot go wrong with this team. Reliable and also full of ideas and solutions to many different problems that appear on design projects when least expected. Computer savvy as well, which was great for me who is still computer challenged. Most every client became a friend with Peter. It was sad for me and my business the day he moved to the east coast. We still miss him here in Louisiana, but he has left his mark with many of his works, and definitely as a friend. Hope to work with him again.
