Welcome to Petrichor Tileworks. We are a unique brand of traditionally hand made ceramic tile, crafted right in our studio located in Minneapolis, MN, USA. We offer an original line of sculpted relief tile, hand made field tile, and specialize in creating new relief designs for clients specific aesthetic visions. Our relief tile is made one of two ways. When a project calls for tiles in multiple numbers, we sculpt the original tile, and make a plaster press mold. With that mold, we have the ability to produce an unlimited amount of relief tile. For projects demanding larger design elements, where one design is inadequate, (such as in a large mural) we will sculpt straight into clay for a one of a kind piece. Our field tile is hand cut to any dimension. This allows for a truly custom fit and look. The visual outcome is rewarding. Our original line of relief tile has been thoughtfully designed to be distinguished from other tile makers. We only mimic other designs, when asked to do a historical reproduction. We pride ourselves in holding our own place in the tile market. These designs can be used in a historical environment as well as new or modern design builds. They are design friendly. Once you have decided to start a project with us, you may request one-on-one design services to achieve your design goals. Potential services can range from simply working out your square footage needs, or mailing glaze samples to you, to creating new designs through a series of hand rendered drawings with strict attention to your specifications. We patiently listen and lend our knowledge. We are only as good as our clients are happy. All of our tile is made and glazed by hand in our studio. Mostly all, is made to order. Occasionally we have an arty backsplash available, ready to go. What is Relief Tile? Relief is a sculptural technique where the design is raised from the solid background. In other words, relief is sculpted design at any height, raised up from a flat background, making it 3 dimensional. Please feel free to call or email with any questions.
