Bill Willigerod has helped me thru the design, planning, construction over sight and reconstruction planning and over sight required as a result of hurricanes IRMA and Maria , 2 cat 5 storms that struck the Virgin Islands in 2017 Although there was some level of storm damage which was inevitable given the effect of 2 cat 5 hurricane and my homes proximity to the eye of the storms , his design withstood these forces admirably Afterwards I doubt that I could have managed to return my home to its present state of full repair while I was in my home in New York without his thoughtful guidance , help in assessing and accessing local contractors (which were in very short supply after the storms ) and general on island over sight of both during the initial construction and reconstruction phases He didn’t have an obligation to help as much as he did but his character seemed to motivate him to help in every way he could Obviously I’m a fan but he earned that feeling from me in innumerable ways He’s the one professional I’d consider recommending to a goid friend or relative considering design or construction on St. John USVI

building a second home in the us virgin islands 2000+ miles from my primary residence is by itself a daunting task; especially given all the horror stories you hear from others about their experience. I happy to say bill has made my project and building experience all good from the very beginning he listened to our desires and attempted to incorporate those needs into a practical design. he also told us when we were heading in the wrong/expensive direction. ultimately we got a fully functional , highly professional, and responsive design well suited for construction in the us virgin islands. not surprising since he's been designing projects in the Caribbean for many years when requested he also gave us 3 suggestions of builders he had worked with on island and the one we chose has similarly built well, timely and without any surprises. finally he has functioned as our on island representative "watching our back" and making on the fly suggestions or changes to keep the budget under control. in summary, and understanding that we're still not quite done, to date I'm a very happy camper

We hired Bill as our architect for designing our dream home on the idyllic island of St. John Virgin Islands. He developed a beautiful concept of our 4 bedroom, 4 bathroom home which took full advantage of our building site and it's incredible views. His expertise shown through with all aspects of home design-from open outdoor spaces to gourmet kitchen--nothing was left undone. He is an advocate for use of solar energy and we were able to decrease our energy costs by installing solar panels that meld perfectly with the home. He is truly a talented architect who is trust worthy, honest and shared in the common vision of building our gorgeous home. We have continued to be good friends and we highly recommend him for any and all aspects of home design.

Twelve years ago, my wife and hired Bill to design our dream home in St. John. He did exactly that. But far more. He also introduced us to several builders, reviewed our evaluations of each with us and ran a superb process which got our home finished on time, on budget and looking better than we ever hoped. We purchased a lot on St. John in 2001. When it came time to build, we were looking for an architect that could incorporate the feeling of the island and stay within our budget. Bill's design of our island house was perfect. It is an open design which takes advantage of the water views, provides plenty of deck space for outside dining, sitting in a hammock or relaxing in the hot tub. His knowledge of island design and carefully listening to our ideas for the house provided us with exactly what we had invisioned as our island dream house. His design also allowed the builder to stay within budget. I would highly recommend Bill for any design project knowing you would be satisfied with the result.

William Willigerod designed and managed a bathroom extension in 2010 and a lower floor remodelling in 2012/13. His work successfully combined aesthetic and practical considerations.
