W. Lamar Cheatham started W. L. Cheatham III, Architect Jan. 2, 1971. He followed this with a multi-family development co., Cheatham Properties, Inc in late 1972. He then started a construction co to build his own projects in 1974. This became Ameristyle Construction, Inc. to concentrate on individual homes.
In 1976 W. L. Cheatham III, Architect began designing individual homes to meet his clients’ particular desires & lifestyles that enhance their individual personalities. These homes range from Traditional, to Contemporary, to Modern, to European/Mediterranean, or a blend to meet his client’s wants. They are laid into each homes site to fit the terrain. They are structurally very sound.
Particular attention is paid to Master Bedroom Suites and Kitchen areas, be they for large or small families. Clients may express a particular interest in other areas special to them and feel assured that good effort will be used to accomplish their intentions.
Lamar offers his knowledge and design abilities to interpret the client’s criteria within their price range. He understands that THEY are the ones who will live in their home so he does not project his own personality into its design.
Because he builds on his own account as well, Lamar has a good knowledge of construction and its cost. He spends a lot of time on his job sites with his sub-contractors swapping knowledge and getting the job he wants.
Few other Architects have both abilities, much less a very good reputation in both fields.
Lamar was one of eighteen (18) Architects and City Planners invited to be in a Delegation to the Peoples Republic of China in 1982. They spent a month there. He was, again invited to be in a similar Delegation to Russia in 1984.
He has been featured in Better Homes and Gardens both monthly and quarterly and their Kitchen and Bath Ideas quarterly. He has been featured in Atlanta Magazine, Today’s Custom Home and has been a Judge in the Orlando, JFK, Parade of Homes.
Lamar is a past president of the Greater Metropolitan Atlanta Navy League Chapter and a member of the Kiwanis Clubs of America
