Founded in 1990 by the principals, Ron Sutton AIA and Elizabeth Suzuki AIA, their recruiting efforts have resulted in a team of professionals who possess a wide range of experience consistent with our emphasis on quality design and service to our clients. Environmentally sound design has long been a hallmark of the firm, commencing with thoughtful site planning for natural ventilation and passive solar gain, and further incorporating sustainable features throughout the project. This experience enables the firm to provide clients with the very best in design and project management in many areas of the country – or world! Locally, the firm has designed custom residences in Marin, Napa, and Mendocino, as well as Atherton and Carmel Valley. We have also completed projects on the islands of Kauai and Hawaii, and designed homes in Jackson, Wyoming and Incline Village.

This top architecture firm offers personal service and makes you feel totally comfortable despite your wildest ideas of design or spatial changes you might have in mind. They have been in business for a long time and are completely trust worthy- and they love what they do. One of the partners, Elizabeth Suzuki came to my home and took a look at a bathroom/closet issue we have. She came up with two imaginative designs to solve our space issue for the closet and to add a second sink in the bathroom. They have not pressured me to implement these changes yet but when I do, I will be using Sutton Suzuki Architects. I highly recommend this outstanding firm.

We have worked with Sutton-Suzuki on many projects over the last ten plus years. Not only do they design beautiful, unique and quite striking projects, but from a contractor’s point of view, they also prepare very detailed and workable drawings to a level we don’t often see. This is key to a successful and efficient project as they have worked out so many of the difficult details prior to ground breaking. They are also very collaborative during the construction phase, bringing project architects that are smart, educated, knowledgeable and good problem solvers as well as cooperative. Working with them on any project big or small has been a very positive and rewarding experience. I can highly recommend them for your projects.

I wish I had met Elizabeth before we bought our house. We hired a designer that came to us recommended by a friend. We asked him to help us evaluate a property to see if what we wanted to do was within our timeline and budget. He and his contractor assured us it was so we bought the house excited as could be. After 3 months, rounds of designs and reviews, we found his proposed design direction was completely contrary to the local zoning set backs and would be nearly impossible to permit. Needless to say were at square one with our house project. I turned to Angie's List because I literally could not find someone happy with their designer or architect. Sutton Suzuki Architects was on a short list of 5 star architects in our area so we thought we call. Elizabeth was very responsive in getting back to us. After one phone call and a bit of research on her part she gave us more information about the house, our project timeline and budget than our previous designer did after 3 months. We are going to end up selling this beautiful house that we probably never would have bought if Elizabeth had been there to advise us. If the next house we buy needs any work whatsoever we will be calling Elizabeth. She was knowledgeable and forthcoming and we are looking forward to the opportunity to works with her.

I have worked with Sutton Suzuki Architects over many years and on many projects, ranging in size from kitchen remodels to single family homes and beyond (most recently the Tiburon Residence). I can honestly say that Sutton Suzuki will provide you the highest level of professionalism, and breadth of experience and talent, that you could hope to find in any one place. You can expect imaginative, innovative and aesthetically pleasing solutions to the requirements of your project. You will find them to be a consistently thoughtful, responsive and supportive working partner. They know their business inside out, top to bottom, from start to finish. And deliver. All this may sound like hyperbole but, for the Tiburon Residence, I personally observed Ron Sutton, the lead architect, working very closely and collaboratively with the client -- and a myriad of consultants -- at all points in the design and construction process; shepherding the project through city design review and building department approvals; handling the bidding and contractor selection and, finally, managing all the highly technical stages of construction which, in the end, has rewarded the client with ownership of a functional, one-of-a-kind, truly gorgeous, premiere, Marin County home.
