We had a truly exceptional experience working with Studio PHH Architects. Renovating a 250+ year old farmhouse that had been in our family for generations was a very daunting project. After speaking with multiple architects, Pierre Hoppenot was the only one who had a vision that exceeded all expectations for what we thought was possible with the house. With many small rooms, pantries, and hallways that can be common in old homes, the space felt totally underutilized. As a house that hosted large gatherings, the kitchen was very cramped and the maze of small rooms felt totally disconnected from the larger living spaces on the other side of the house. By opening up and reworking a variety of spaces, his plan transformed the oldest part of the farmhouse to become a light-filled, welcoming, warm environment that we had always dreamed of. We did not do any external building, yet anyone that spent time in the house before renovation now walks in and gasps at the amount of space and can not believe that we did not extend the house to be able to accomplish the final product. PHH helped us modernize the downstairs, including the kitchen, dining, living and entertaining spaces, while delicately balancing the aesthetic of the old, traditional farmhouse. From the beginning of our discussions until the final stages of the project, PHH's expertise has been invaluable. Given the age and wear of the house, there were a variety of structural considerations and complexities that had to be taken into account and PHH did so with ease. When unexpected issues arose, PHH worked directly with our contractor and sub-contractors to make sure a solution was found. Pierre and Marco went above and beyond to share advice on how to utilize the space and lighting/furniture suggestions to make our vision a reality. The PHH team's in-depth knowledge and appreciation for different materials helped guide our decision-making on everything from flooring and tile to lighting and hardware. Our favorite part of the house is the 200-year-old original pine floors that had centuries of damage, yet with PHH's guidance, we pulled them up, refinished them with a variety of creative methods, and relaid them and the outcome is absolutely gorgeous. Family homes bring with them a vast range of emotions. I was worried that in changing the house, I would lose the connection I felt with generations of my family. I'll never forget Pierre asking as he walked around, "what are some of the most meaningful elements of this house to your family?" That was a very special moment as I realized that PHH understood how deeply our memories and traditions were engrained in the house and that honoring that would be a key priority. I am so grateful for Pierre's partnership throughout our entire project and can not speak highly enough about Pierre, Marco and the PHH team. When it comes to creating beautiful spaces that enrich our lives, these guys are in a class all of their own.

Pierre is a truly unique talent. He is a world class architect and a world class designer. A combination that is hard to find. In addition he understands the details of construction as well as any contractor and was extremely helpful on our project in delivering solutions to difficult construction challenges. On top of all that Pierre is a great communicator, incredibly fast with responses and a joy to work with. We've worked with a lot of architects and designers over the years, and Pierre is the best. On our project he did both the architecture and the interior design and even weighed in with great ideas on the landscape design.

This is our second project working with Studio PHH. When looking for an architect as a builder and homeowner, we look for creativity, good communication, and steady workflow amongst other items. Pierre always makes himself available, keeps things organized, works to make his deadlines, and most importantly comes up with great ideas. Our latest projects largest problems that needed to be solved was creating enough space , bedrooms, and bathrooms with almost the same footprint of the home while also flowing and looking beautiful. We are almost at completion and the house is turning out better than we could have imagined. We really could not be happier. Whenever I have an idea, question, design question, Pierre does what he can to help. It’s a team effort with Studio PHH and looking forward to many more projects in the coming years.

Studio PHH Architects was brought on to design a high end pool-house including a sauna and an indoor-outdoor dining space for an estate in upstate NY. They had strong aesthetic vision and design leadership but were also open to change and a collaborative process. The design turned out beautiful, merging modern lines with classic materials tying back to the older farm buildings. We would highly recommend them and hope to work with Pierre again in the future.

He has been able to use our existing house and to magnify it through a stunning addition the design mix attractiveness and functionality very well. The relationship with an architect is not always simple, hopes & dreams vs budget & technical realities, this is what it is. When my wife and I first looked into how to update the apartment we recently purchased, we were a bit overwhelmed. The apartment was originally a very tired, almost thirty year old relic. We contacted Pierre at Studio PPH Architects. We explained how we wanted to create a space that was updated but would have a design that had longevity. We hired Studio PHH Architects to redesign our 2400 square foot condominium in Washington DC. Mr. Hoppenot assessed the existing structure and our goals and generated countless options for the space and with every attempt to conform to our budgetary restrictions. He was efficient, timely, and continuously and happily reassessing the design based on our feedback until we achieved a brilliant, aesthetic and functional design. In addition, Mr. Hoppenot's skills extend to a fine aesthetic sense and to interior design, including finishes. Technical and architectural design as well as all aspects of interior design are within his abilities. Mr. Hoppenot also reviewed bids in detail, identifying cost saving areas based on his experience and in direct negotiations with possible contractors. This allowed us to arrive at the best outcome on cost of the job. Mr. Hoppenot is based in NYC but made the necessary trips to execute our project in a top notch manner and distance was never an issue. We cannot recommend Studio PHH Architects and Mr. Hoppenot highly enough. We'd hire them again in a heartbeat!

We have worked with Pierre on high end custom home projects and he is excellent to work with. His design decisions are thoughtful and purposeful with an eye towards cost as well. His documents are easy to read and work with which leads to accurate bids and a well coordinated project. He is responsive, available and quick to return calls.

I recently hired Studio PHH Architects to provide a holistic vision for our new house in Princeton, NJ. With the shell already built, Pierre Hoppenot focused on designing and documenting the 8,200 SF of high-end interiors which include a top-of-the-line kitchen, great room, dining room, living room, 3-floor connecting staircase, the master suite which takes up the entire second floor, and a fully integrated outdoor cedar kitchen. Pierre's ability to innovate on traditional details led to a transitional style which meticulously ties back to the existing exterior and was crucial in the success of our house. His guidance towards natural materials (metals, woods, stone) provides a calm and striking backdrop for our lives. Working with Pierre-Henri Hoppenot of PHH studios has been an inspiring, creative and rewarding experience. PHH came to Techtona interested in reclaimed teak for a private home. Pierre brought a thoughtful and rigorous set of parameters to us for material selection and worked closely with us over a year to insure the right sustainably sourced reclaimed teak was used in his project. The Lasley Brahaney team has had the pleasure of working with Pierre Hoppenot for the past year preparing to build a new custom home that Pierre has designed for his clients here in Princeton, NJ.
