Steven Clipp Architecture

We could not have been happier with Steve Clipp as our architect! From the very beginning, it was clear that our needs were foremost in his design of our dream home. And, we love the end product! Every morning we wake up to the beauty of our surroundings--both the architecture of our home and the outdoors. One of our goals was to bring the outside in and Steve took advantage of every view. He designed our home to fit the land. Every detail of our home was well thought out and reflects us as well as Steve's creativity. Friends and neighbors constantly comment on the beauty and uniqueness of our home. Every opportunity we get, we suggest Steve as an architect!

I hired Steve to help us turn a powder room into a full bath with a beautiful shower. We turned a downstairs "flex space" into a guest room for aging parents and needed the full bath to go along with it. Steve was very helpful and creative. He was able to visualize the space and find plenty of room for the shower by narrowing a very wide entrance hallway. It actually made the hallway look better afterwards because it defined where the foyer stopped and the kitchen started. Steve had excellent suggestions for making the small space feel big. For example, we used a pocket door so that the door would not take up space inside the bathroom when opened and we had a custom cabinet made so that the sink could be placed in a corner. Steve recommended 3 builders for us to call. We hired one of them. Steve came to the site twice to answer questions/concerns and spoke with me on the phone several times when I had questions. I highly recommend him!

I worked with Steve on the renovation of a 110 year-old brick rowhouse. When I found it, the historic structure had faced years of decay and neglect. But I brought Steve into the process very early - before I had even made an offer! He was able to visualize the renovation and even gave an estimate of the costs that turned out to be surprisingly accurate. He was there with me every step of the way, from selecting a contractor to choosing finishes that fit with the historic nature of the house. Steve's experience proved invaluable. He brought light and openness into my home. He subtly improved the functionality of the layout, without disrupting the house's historic charm. The house just LIVED well, and I couldn't have been happier. Just this year, I was transferred at work and had to list the home for sale. This was the make-or-break moment, when you see if the renovation would hold its value. Boy did it! The house sold in 3 days for well above my asking price, surpassing homes with similar "on paper" characteristics (location, size, bedrooms, etc.). I have no doubt that this positive result was due to Steve's functional and thoughtful design choices, and I believe his services easily paid for themselves in the end.

I have undertaken a major renovation of 2400sf, based on Steve's design. The spaces have come to life in a way I could not see in the renderings. He has real vision, attention to detail, and he helped me to negotiate with contractor bids for a fair price.

Steven Clipp was great to work with. He was very insightful and his designs in the two projects we used him for we're perfect for our lifestyle. The projects when completed, not only met but exceeded our expectations. Steve was reliable, provided drawings in a timely manner and was responsive. He was also conservative in his approach to the designs, not pushing excess in regard to materials and overall size.

Steven Clipp is a truly wonderful architect. He listens to everything you say that you dream of in your house, and then somehow makes it all come true! And, unlike many architects, he stays within the budget you ACTUALLY want to spend. In the end, you get an incredibly unique home. Steven really does do this for his clients, not himself. You can call him on Sunday evenings with questions, and he'll talk for hours if you want just because he loves making his client happy. And trust me - as one of his clients, we are as happy as we could be.
