Soloway Designs Inc. is an Arizona-based architecture and interior design firm, established in 1996, serving residential clients across the USA. Marc and his team are real pros. The home styles in the Desert are very different from the Midwest where we had been living. Marc helped us understant the architectural styles that would fit our needs best. and then worked with us to iteratively design. a unique custom home that truly meets our needs and reflects our personalities. Marc also did more than simply design a home for us. He stayed connected with us throughout the build and interior design phases of our project, helping when needed when we ran into the inevitable challenges everyone runs into when transitioning from concept to reality. We are extremely happy with our home and highly recommend Marc and his team.

Marc and his interior designer Esthela did and incredible job on our home in Grand Junction,CO. They truly designed what may be one of the most amazing homes in the area. From positioning the house on the lot to taking advantage of the amazing views and the attention to detail the home is exquisite. Marc has a very keen eye when it comes to ceiling detail and lighting and the overall flow of our home. It’s a mountain modern design so it’s modern with a warm welcoming feel, which is exactly what we were looking for. The finishes and color pallets that Esthela recommended are fantastic as well. From the kitchen design to the custom game tables and the 11 foot high floor to ceiling windows Marc was able to take advantage of every available view including the views from the laundry room. They were a pleasure to work with and our home is absolutely incredible. You need look no further than Soloway Designs!

We just completed our fourth residence in over 40 years with four different architects. Soloway Design was by far our best experience thru design and build out. When we had our first meeting we told Marc what we were looking for in this home, he listened and followed thru with a design and layout that was awesome. Every day we get up and look out all the windows and see the water, mountains, and wild life that seem to be in all our rooms "it makes our day". The last thing I will say is that Marc Soloway office prepared the most complete and detailed house plans that I have seen in my 40 years as a General Contractor.

Marc was introduced to my wife and I by friends that had used his firm previously on a major project and they felt he would be perfect for us. That has proven to be the case. We purchased a home in Oro Valley, Az. needing major changes and renovations in order to take full advantages of its mountain top location. In many cases the project has had more challenges than doing a new build and Marc’s vision, creativity and professional yet friendly approach has been essential to its success. Marc is a great listener while also giving his own opinions and input at the most appropriate times. It should be pointed out that we are undertaking this project from the east coast and there is no way we would be as organized or confident about its progress and outcome without the full effort of Marc’s team, all of whom have proven to be highly creative and easy to work with. If you are planning a new build or major renovation we would not hesitate to give Marc and his team our highest recommendation.

One has only to spend a little time reviewing the Soloway Designs Inc. website to know that Marc has a very extensive portfolio that showcases his great artistic skill and flexibility in architectural design. After we researched his online portfolio, we were able to meet with him on very short notice. Marc carefully reviewed our design considerations, and briefed us on his unique process that takes into account the site location, architectural design, and how the space is intended to be used and lived-in. Marc was able to swiftly visit our lot and begin the initial design planning. In a second stage, we were able to visit with Marc to work on real-time design iterations to lock-in a final design. Overall, we were very impressed with how slick his process was, and how quickly he was able to finalize our design. Moving our design through our HOA proved to be a challenge, but Marc’s experience with negotiating with HOA boards and architectural committees turned out to be a huge advantage, and after working closely with us on some redesigns, we were able to receive HOA approvals to build. Marc is unlikely to be your cheapest option when selecting an architect, but “you get what you pay for”. The choice of architect is absolutely critical to any design and construction process, and is probably the last place to begin considering budget reductions. Moreover, arriving at the final design is only the first stage, because after finalizing any design, complex structural and engineering design work needs to follow. Here again is a reason not to cut corners. In fact, our builder mentioned that Marc’s engineering drawings and schematics were the best he’d ever seen in all his decades of being in the construction business. Finally, as we begin the construction phase, it has been comforting to know that Marc continues to have a strong interest in the project, providing valuable guidance to us, and solid support to our construction team.

My wife and I worked with Marc Soloway Designs Inc | Architecture to design our dream Desert Mountain home in Tucson. Our upward sloping lot required excavating into the mountain to creatively build the house to capture our spectacular Mountain and City Views. Marc seamlessly designed a picturesque floating Patio connected to the Pool some twenty feet above grade. During our first meeting, Marc suggested the houzz site platform and architectural magazines, in which we selected a series of pictures, which Marc utilized to create an initial architectural concept. After a series of design follow-up meetings, to review and settle on options and features, Marc completed the documentation phase, creating permit and construction plans, a 3D computer rendering and scaled model of the house. He also met with our homeowners association for approval. Marc was professional, accessible, and thorough in explaining options and incorporating feedback from meetings and phone calls throughout our project. I enjoy our new house and highly recommend Marc Soloway.

Marc and his team have been working with us for about a year and a half on a custom house project in the Catalina Foothills north of Tucson. It’s a challenging place to build, since the lot consists almost entirely of a steep hill on scrabbly ground. The reviewing architect, among others, said he was surprised that anybody was able to design a house that could be built on it, but Marc did. He’s been a pleasure to work with and we’ve been very impressed by his thoroughness, attention to detail, and straightforwardness. He’s always been willing to listen to, and work with, our ideas, and the designs for the house (Southwest Contemporary style, 3000+ square feet) turned out beautifully.

When we bought our retirement home in Tucson, we knew we wanted to remodel the home to make it our forever dream home. Being a Houzz user, I started looking at homes on the app. As i marked my favorite homes, they all seemed to have a similar look and feel. I looked up the architect and realized most of them were designed by Marc Soloway and that he lived in Tucson! Even though we were a couple of years away from starting the remodel, we reached out to Marc right away to explore the possibility of him designing our dream home. Marc is down to earth, soft spoken, has his clients best interests at heart and is completely honest. Given the amount of lead time we had, we spent a lot of time with Marc describing what we wanted and he delivered way more than what we expected. He was so very patient in answering our every question, was always available to us and made us feel like we are his only client. Given that we are using the existing footprint of the house, we thought the remodel will probably have some resemblance to the existing look and feel. Amazingly, the plan Marc came up with is one of a kind, and makes the views the star of the house. I can't imagine the home being more unique and to our style even if it were a brand new construction. We just started our remodel and are going with Marc's entire team. We did not look at any other architect and have not felt the need to do so. We are thrilled with Marc and his team and highly recommend Marc to anyone looking to build or remodel. We can't wait for the project to complete and for us to move in and enjoy the home for the rest of our lives!!

Soloway Designs does an incredible job; specifically as it relates to redesigning older homes and making them functional and modern for the needs of today. We live in a home that was originally built in the late 1960's in Tucson, Arizona. It had a mid century vibe but was lacking in function, form and modern amenities. Before building my project, I initially contacted Marc to provide computer renderings for the set of architectural plans that I had already designed with a previous architect. After hearing his additional ideas and input, I actually decided to trash the old plans and start over with Marc, leading the design from start to finish. My job requires frequent global travel and Marc's ability to communicate around my crazy schedule made the design process fun and easy. The house that I ended up with was far beyond anything that I initially thought possible, for my budget. Marc designed our new home in Grand Junction, Colorado. We worried a bit about distance but Marc's way of approaching our design made the process easy and successful. Marc's way of approaching a design through his programming survey helped us focus and think through our needs and desires in a house. Marc came to Grand Junction for three days and produced a first design that captured all of what we wanted, including the best attributes of our lot, the views. We worked through a few revisions easily with Marc. He was always available by phone and responded promptly. Our home was completed in October of this year. It won five of the seven awards in this year's Parade of Homes, including best floor plan and best creativity and innovation.

Building a house from scratch involves making many, many decisions, some complicated, some not. Not just decisions about the things you want your house to be, but more importantly about choosing the professionals to team up with to execute your plan. Hiring Marc Soloway was my first major decision on my project, and being able to look back now having moved in to my house 6 months ago, this was certainly the best decision I made on the entire project. And I say this not only because my house is everything I had hoped it would be and think that it should be in architectural magazines, which it should, but because working with Marc is what got me to the finish line. Marc looks out for you as a client from the start of your project through completion, helping you to navigate through other difficult decisions such as choosing your contractor, evaluating contracts, hiring engineers, evaluating cost and value, etc. He also is there to work with you on your project. I truly feel that my house is a collaboration of my vision and desires, coupled with Marc's creativity and knowledge. He listens to want you want to accomplish and gives you options on what can be done, and revises until we get it right. He is not an architect that demands to have it his way, he is there to make the best outcome of your situation no matter what the restraints are, money, space, time, etc. He has personality and is truly a pleasure to work with. Marc created a design that captured the best views from evert location which was exactly what I envisioned. We hired Marc Soloway to design our home in Colorado. From day one, he has exceeded our expectations. Marc's designs are truly brilliant. He is on the ball, easy-going and fun to hang out with. We hired Marc to design our house. My wife wanted a Tuscany Farmhouse design similar to a picture she had and I insisted on no flat roofs. We wanted openness for entertaining and windows for lots of light. Marc helped firm up our ideas and was very open to changes as we went. Marc and crew got the plans together and pushed it threw building codes and got the building permit. House was completed nine months later. We are very happy with the final result and highly recommend Soloway Designs.

Marc designed our new home in Canyon Pass after receiving references regarding his work from several people and after seeing some of the beautiful homes he designed. Though we were on a very limited budget he not only listened to our "wants" but his design included much more in detail than I could have ever imagined. The layout was exactly as we wanted and the use of space, and ceiling and room layouts were so much more than we could have come up with on our own. We moved to Tucson and hired Marc to design our new home in Tucson, boy were we fortunate. This is the 4th home we designed/built and never before had we experienced such creativity and outside the box thinking. We were stretching financially for this house and gave Marc specific budget restraints but asked him to design us "the coolest house we could afford." We like modern houses and he came back with a house filled with glass, curved walls, asymmetrical angles and amazing views. Since everyone likes different styles, the best thing I can say about Marc is that he listens and creates the most with the parameters you set. His thoughtfulness with respect to views, placing the house on the lot and the little details sets him apart. We have just moved AGAIN and Marc has started designing our 5th house in Louisville, Kentucky.

I bought a 1.8 acre residential building site in Stone Canyon, a prestigious upscale golf community in Oro Valley, Arizona. After reviewing websites of the local architects I elected to hire Marc Soloway. I couldn't be more satisfied with my decision. I am a commercial building general contractor in the Seattle area and have worked with many Architects in my nearly 40 years in the industry. Very few Architects have the design capabilities and ingenuity that Marc has. His experience in actually constructing what he designs (which is paramount) and ability to meet my written program while adding breathtaking design features are uncommon traits in Architects. He was involved in all aspects of the design and he's excellent at keeping the client informed during the design phases. His knowledge of the local building codes and HOA design guidlines is "top notch". At the onset of design, Marc took a variety of pictures to establish the perfect orientation for the home. With that information he designed an un-supported rear roof overhang to maximize the lot features upon entry into the home. Remarkable!! The outside living area he designed, with a pool, fire pit and BBQ kitchen is another design addition that sets my home apart. Unique soffits, curved stack stone walls, excellent use of glass...too many features to list. During the design of my 4400 SF home we collaborated on room sizes, architectural and interior design features and mechanical and electrical systems. Marc Soloway listens. Marc met all my expections and then some for what I considered a very reasonable fee. In closing, I would not hesitate to recommend Marc Soloway Designs to anyone needing the services of an architect/planner.

Soloway Designs and in particular, Marc Soloway, was fantastic to work with. We purchased a lot in the Stone Canyon Club and built our winter/retirement home. Marc was the Architect and did a fabulous job. He made the process very simple for us. He provided us a questionaire that resulted in a specification for what we wanted in the house. He exhibited genuine interest in our residential project in the Caribbean and made an enormous effort in displaying his skill and design experience. We worked with Marc to design a second home/vacation home for us in Tucson, Arizona. Above and beyond being our architect, he has been a tremendous advisor to us in all aspects of this project. Marc has maintained great communication throughout the entire process, and made suggestions along the way that were always much better than our original direction. From the beginning, Marc was fully engaged. Marc met us out on the lot, walked the property, discussed position of the home on the lot, and building up the lot to best capture views. Marc made himself available during the building process, regularly visited our job site, and even with less than one month left on the project, Marc provided recommendations and guidance. Marc listened to us throughout the process and the end result was a full set of plans that will result in a beautiful home for our family. In addition to Marc's experience and knowledge, he has a great sense of humor and always made us feel comfortable. I was looking for an idea, I was looking how to make my home in a place where dominates the peace and harmony of nature.  I needed a person who can contemplate the modernity of modern life with nature without making either of the two dominant.  The place of which I speak is located in Croatia for exactness in Istria  I had a feeling that the right man can be Marc.  I wrote an email and he answered me immediately, from then, even with the distance we worked without any problems.  Marc is an Architect who makes you a thousand questions but he knows what to do with the answers.  The best thing is when he tells you that it will be ready by that date, on that date you receive the job ready.

Marc designed a modern desert home for us in Arizona that is more like a piece of art than a home. My wife and I were referred to Marc Soloway by a friend when we were looking for an Architect to design our custom home. After spending about an hour with Marc talking to him and looking at his portfolio and we knew we were at the right place. We had the pleasure of engaging Soloway Designs, Inc., to design a 2,100 square foot casita adjacent to our home in the Canyon Pass neighborhood of Dove Mountain. The resulting structure matches the architecture of our home and flows smoothly throughout the property. Marc Soloway did an outstanding job of maximizing the stunning views of the wash surrounded by canyon walls from the casita. The 76 foot bridge 15 feet above the wash connects the casita to the back yard of the main house and has an observation platform, which is an excellent location to view wildlife. We found Mr. Soloway to be professional in every way but more importantly helpful and friendly in helping us make informed choices for the details of our special space.

My wife and I are extremely happy with the house Marc Soloway designed for us. Marc worked extensively with us to make sure that he designed a house that met our needs and objectives. Marc was then able to add elements that make our home unique and interesting both inside and out. Not only did the design meet our vision – our builder was able follow the design without having to make alterations to make it actually work in practice. The views of the Catalina and Tucson Mountains have been captured beautifully. It can be difficult to decide what aspects to explore and enjoy in the house - the curves, angles and dimension of the rooms, the use of unique building materials such as C-beams on the outside of the house or just sit back and take in the views of the mountains, desert and city. It is not often that I can say the results have exceeded our expectations –but in the case of our home – that is definitely the case. We highly recommend Marc Soloway if you want a home that is functional, interesting and exciting to live in.

Marc and his staff have been exemplary to work with. I wanted a house that was slightly different than many they had designed and it is turning out beautifully. Stone Canyon is a difficult area to build in due to the boulder site and the building restrictions but Marc worked professionally and quickly with all concerned including my builder, Todd Wilson of Wilson Builders, to meet the deadlines I really wanted. When we bought our lot in Tucson, we had no idea of the style of home we wanted and had no prior experience with southwestern home design. Soloway Design was recommended by our builder because "they listen". This turned out to be absolutely true. Marc Soloway began with us at the "beginning" through multiple phone conferences....(we live outside of Philadelphia). Also, we had never built a custom home. He asked about our dogs, our hobbies, our love of cooking, our family and their likely visits, and a host of other factors that turned out to be important in the final design. One of the things that sets him apart is that HE LISTENS. He does not have "an attitude". He works really well with our builder and designer, and together they make a great team. After talking with a number of different architects in the Tucson area, viewing open houses where the name of the architect was listed in the house description, and getting recommendations from realtors who were familiar with the top architects in the Tucson area, we chose to let Marc Soloway design our house. Since there were a number of different lots we were considering, we asked Marc to give us his impression of them and he willingly spent a considerable amount of time walking the lots with us and identifying the ones that he felt were best and all before receiving any money or a signed contract from us. Once a lot was selected and purchased, his methodical approach to designing a house plan worked very well and in the end, we ended up with a design that was exactly what we were looking for and within the budget we had stipulated. Further, Marc's creativity and ability to incorporate interesting, attractive architectural features into both the interior and exterior of the home are already garnering praise from neighbors even though the house is only partially completed. Without question, the entire process was much easier, and enjoyable, because of Marc's personality and willingness to make modifications as issues arose. I wouldn't hesitate to recommend Marc Soloway to someone looking for an architect.

We hired Soloway Designs, Inc. to design a home for us in 2005. Worked with Marc Soloway for over a year to make our design the perfect one for us. Coming from the Midwest, we questioned several aspects of the design that Marc suggested. Thank God we listened to him because living in the Southwest is completely different from living in the Midwest and his suggestions turned out to be very important. After a year building process, we moved into our home in 2008. Since the day we moved in, we wake up every morning and Thank God (and Marc Solloway) for the beautiful home that we live in. Marc was exceptionally educated on what designs work in the Southwest, expecially with our extreme weather conditions. He was professional and was always on time at our numerous meetings. He introduced so many new ideas and concepts and is truly a genius at architectural design. He was delightful to work with and we have maintained a friendship ever since. I think you will find that anyone who has ever worked with Marc will give him the same outstanding grade that we give him.....A++++. We have never met any of Marc's customers who do not say the same thing about him.

My wife and I hired Soloway Designs Inc to design and build our second home getaway. After a poor experience of doing this once before I vowed it would never happen again; especially from a long distance. On a cloudy Sunday afternoon with boredom setting in, we decided to go out and about and look at houses. By chance, we turned into a driveway that had a hidden treasure, for us, designed by Marc Soloway. Cutting to the chase, a short time later we had some meetings and decided to take the plunge....again. It was a super positive experience and lots of fun.The process or marriage lasted approximately 3 yrs and guess what;we still communicate with each other. They kept their promises,met deadlines,stayed within their forcasted budgets even though we didn't and had great attitude and most importantly always got back to us in a timely manner. Would I do it again???? Absolutely....if I was younger!!! Sam & Patti Weinstein Edmonton,Alberta. Canada.
