Garth is such a great person to communicate with. His knowledge is deep and his aesthetics were vast. He was open and engaging and no question was too small nor big. Although we didn’t go a the way through with the entire process- we will pick it back up with him.

I could not give a higher recommendation to Garth Sheriff after the wonderful experience we had in remodeling my home in Studio City. Garth brought a world of experience and expertise to every aspect of the project, from initial conversations, through drawings, designs, construction, permits, to final touches and "punch list" items. More importantly, Garth listened to and worked with all of the personal ideas that I had for the project, and then helped make them a reality. Rather than force his vision of the project on me, Garth simply offered options and ideas along the way. Many times he made suggestions that built on my own good ideas - or, in some cases, saved me from some of my bad ones! As a result, I now live in a magnificent home of which I am very proud, and in which I am happy, comfortable and satisfied. There has not been one visitor to my home who has not complimented the look, feel, and the STYLE of every aspect of the house. People often comment that when they come through my gate, they feel like they are escaping to a relaxing, hidden-away resort. This was EXACTLY the look and feel I was hoping for, and I could NOT have accomplished this without Garth Sheriff. On top of that, he is cordial, affable, punctual and very generous with his time and his knowledge. I doubt I will ever undertake another project of this magnitude in my lifetime, but if I do, Garth is the first person I would call. And I highly that recommend anyone looking for a comprehensive and frankly excellent architect should do the same.

Garth was absolutely spot on when it came to designing our home based on "how we lived." All of his talent and attention to detail from selecting light fixtures to a stainless steel beaded accent curtain made our home contemporary, but warm and inviting. Most important, he understood our aesthetic, our budget and what were "our hills to die for" when it came to making decisions. We are grateful to Garth for holding our hands through the process and just being a great gentleman to deal with. We affectionately call our home "our jewel by the sea."

Great experience! I loved that he is all designing within our lifestyle. He sat with my husband for hours reviewing how we live before designing out our home. He was great with colors, details, ideas -- and always professional and easy to reach. Not only was he a great resource himself, he had people to help us too. He was a pleasure to work with. Our contractor referred Sheriff Architecture Studio to us. From start to finish, Garth Sheriff, the architect, was professional and extremely competent. Garth nearly doubled the square footage of our house and completely redesigned the existing floor plan. Garth integrated our ideas and designed a house plan that fit our lifestyle. The floor plan of our former traditional looking home was awkward - disproportionally sized rooms and a staircase that cut into the foyer. We had an amazing view of mountains but the interior layout did not really draw this view into the house - only on the deck could you see the view. Garth designed a home that incorporated the “open concept” - family room and kitchen into one space, dining room and living room into another open space - yet his plan still allowed us to create separation so we could have privacy and sound buffering when needed (which is important when you have 4 kids!). He designed bedrooms and bathrooms that were proportion to each other. He brought the view into our house - so much that one doesn't even need to step outside to enjoy the view! Natural light now lights the interior. We went from a traditional looking home to a transitional one… Most importantly, Garth and our contractor worked well together THROUGHOUT the process, which helped ensure that designs and construction were well done. Each construction meeting was productive. Garth was an excellent sounding board, clever in his design concepts, great at problem solving and responsive. We highly recommend Garth for your next residential or commercial project.

Mr. Sheriff was the architect on this project that I built (I was the general contractor). He was very involved during the construction process providing invaluable feedback and answers to questions that inherently come up during the course of a construction project. In addition to that, I found him to be a very competent architect that tailored his design to the needs of this particular client and the challenging site he had to work with ensuring a very successful and well put together end result. I would wholeheartedly recommend him to anyone considering a remodel or an entirely new home. Mr. Sheriff also happens to be a very good landscape designer and complements his home designs with a complete site and landscape plan.
