Co-Creative Architecture & Interior Design Studio in Sydney & Canberra

We are Sandbox Studio, an emerging co-creative architecture studio based in Sydney & Canberra. So what's a co-creative architecture studio – another buzzword? Not really, ‘cause we take you - the client - seriously...we respect your design aesthetic, your tastes, your desires! We invite you to co-design with us. Don't worry, we do all the hard work, but we sit with you over a coffee and get your imagination going. We engage you in conversations and exercises (our trade secret ; ) which help reveal to you and us what you really want. We know it's our job to come up with ideas and concepts and do all the architectural work, but we think it's also our job to discover what's in the back of your mind and empower your creativity. The result of such a collaborative process is something really special! What kind of projects do we undertake? We specialise in the design and documentation of new residences, renovations, alterations and additions, interior fit-outs, as well as multi-residential and commercial projects. We are also experienced and keen to engage in creating innovative furniture and interiors. Sandbox Studio is an A+ member of the Australian Institute of Architects.

This is our 7th house and we want something of a “wow” if this is to be our last house. The team at Sandbox was so easy to work with, understood our needs without being intrusive, designed and costed something that was within our reach yet functional and adaptable for our future needs (mobility). They were patient, professional and courteous all the way. The plans were detailed which made dealing with the builder such a breeze as everyone was on the same page from day-1. If we ever build again, Sandbox will be our first and only choice.

The team at Sandbox Studio were great to work with - realistic, open and good communicators. This was a first time renovation for us, and the Mukesh, Dain and Luke all took the time to answer all of our questions, and provide advice. They recommended a number of other professionals along the way - eg engineers - who were all good to work with on our renovation, cost effective and collaborative in their approach. We certainly found the Sandbox team a great resource, and felt they really partnered with us to get the best outcomes. And, we're very happy with our end result!

We had the floorplan for our home completed but needed something a little different to incorporate our modern industrial theme. As builders, we needed to change it up a little for our own place. Fortunately, we met the fellows at Sandbox Studio at a Home Show, and we knew then that they were what we needed to make the changes happen. Living some five hours from Sydney meant communicating by facetime, emails, text and with photos. The end result is a home incorporating corbelling, concrete lintels, modern but industrial style roofing, a huge skylight and a truly distinctive home. Sandbox Studio were accommodating to our needs and incorporated our suggestions into their own designs beautifully. From the get-go, our son kept suggesting we get an architect involved in the design of our home to give it a point of difference….. he was right – Sandbox Studio was what we needed. Special thanks to Dain for working so closely with us and Mukesh for readily responding to our requests. We cannot recommend Sandbox Studio highly enough.

We are in the process of renovating our house and are extremely happy with the service that Luke and Mukesh have provided. We have a 1920's Californian Bungalow and are re-designing the downstairs and adding a modern 2nd-storey to the back part of the house. They have always been willing to listen to our suggestions and incorporated it into the design or came up with other ideas that we preferred! They are always quick to answer any questions we have and so easy to reach via phone or email. They are also willing to communicate with our builder and interior designer to get the best result for us. We highly recommend them if you want a great design whilst working with a professional team on your side.
