Michael is a licensed architect in Illinois, Indiana, Iowa, Wisconsin and Arizona, and has reciprocity in more than 40 other states. He formed his first architectural private practice in 1983, devoted to small custom residential and commercial projects. Over the years that firm evolved into a diverse architectural, planning, interior design and construction firm. We think honesty is the most important attribute to look for in an architect or construction resource. After all, if you cannot trust these people, you cannot work with them. Our project involved expanding our family room, adding a mudroom, and moving a bathroom to a better location. Michael Menn gave us a great plan and followed through with what he promised on the plan. The house now looks up to date and fits in well with the neighborhood. It looks amazing! A project supervisor came by each morning to answer our questions and resolve any issues that we saw. The supervisor was very helpful in hearing our concerns and working with Michael to make revisions. We highly recommend Michael Menn for projects large and small.

We moved here from Texas a year ago right before the polar vortex. Michael and his team of talented experts prepared our barn for our small animals prior to our arrival. It was a huge undertaking in freezing temperatures and they exceeded our expectations. They have continued to update the barn for safety and custom elements. We are so very thankful for their professional approach to our special project that has not only given us peace of mind for the safety of our animals but provided for their happiness too. Truly the definition of above and beyond. Michael is currently in charge of all design work and execution of the many custom projects in our 1950's farmhouse. We plan to continue these projects, both large and small, for the foreseeable future due to our complete trust, satisfaction, and pleasure in working with Michael and his team. We had been planning a kitchen remodel for over 10 years and finally pulled the trigger. We couldn't be happier with the results and the entire process, which, from our previous experiences, is a lot to say for a remodeling project. From the initial consultation with Michael, where he discussed not only what we wanted done but how we lived and used our,kitchen, through the design phase, the selection of materials, the building phase, and the final punch list, all facets of the job were handled with the ultimate professionalism. All of the individual tradesmen--carpenters, electricians, plumbers, masons, flooring crew, the tile installer--were great. They arrived when they were supposed to, they were skilled and professional, they worked in a timely manner, and they cleaned up before they left. Our project manager, Mark, was on site every day. Changes and problems which arose were addressed promptly and creatively. And the project was completed on time. The end result was a beautiful, stylish, and functional kitchen. We love, love, love this kitchen. We got everything we wanted...and more. We would not hesitate to recommend Michael Menn Ltd. for your remodeling project. You will not be disappointed.

We have used Michael to remodel our garage and subsequently to remodel our basement after we had a flood. He is extremely accessible and worked closely with our insurance company to ensure we received the full amount of the remodeling costs for the basement. Working with him has been easy and our garage looks wonderful - I'm sure our basement will too when it is finished!

Michael Menn, Ltd. was both the architect and contractor of my recent condo remodeling. He helped us by designing a handicapped accessible bathroom and advised us on other ways to make our home more accessible by widening doorways. In addition, Michael gave me the names of a kitchen designer to help design my new kitchen and bathrooms as part of the project. When we first met, one question my husband and I asked was the duration of the project. Michael said it would take about three months. We moved out on May 31 and returned home on September 1. Unlike many friends who have used contractors, Michael was able to stick to the schedule he designed so that our project was completed in the three months he proposed. In addition, Michael was available to answer any question I had along the way. If I needed to meet him, he made himself available. While it is never easy having this much work done in one's home, Michael made it as painless as possible. I would definitely recommend him to anyone who was planning a project in one's home.

We hired Michael to re-do our kitchen and the first floor. We have lived through remodeling in another house and working with Michael was our best experience yet. He provided a detailed schedule at the outset. He easily solved a structural problem created when the house was built. His architectural/design expertise contributed to many pleasing solutions along the way. And Michael works beautifully as a team player —coordinating with our interior designer and kitchen designers. Throughout the process, Michael addressed our concerns thoughtfully and promptly. We would definitely work with Michael again and can’t recommend him highly enough.

I hired Michael Menn to help layout the interior direction for my 27 year old ranch. They gave me several options to think about and the ability to mix and match these different designs to help me complete the total picture I have of what my house will look like. They brought ideas I had never considered, which now I have added some to my new vision. The are very thorough and professional in their approach to my project. Michael Menn pays attention--when problems arise, they will get addressed, even if it takes extra effort. And he is more than helpful when it comes to the collateral items, like recommending a tradesman for work with which he had no infolfement!

Pool House built as well as contracted for water upgrades to house and pool house. Drainage pipes with bladders put into front of house. This was required by the Village of Deerfield in order to build an in ground pool. Contracted for a generator for house and pool requiring upgraded electric panel installed in house. Sound system for outdoors incorporated with indoors. Outdoor grill and general contractor to coordinate with Landscape specialist and pool company. Michael also was the general contrator for a water filtration system for our home. Mr. Menn was very knowledgable about all the specialties that were required to handle this backyard project. That included dryvit work to back of house and entire pool house. There were some problems with the Village inspectors regarding changes that the inspectors decided would be necessary during the construction. Mr. Menn handled everything in a very professional manner. All problems were resolved quickly.

I hired Michael Menn 3 times. The first time he added a room to our house and completely renovated our kitchen. The second time he repaired our garage due to a fire. The third time he remolded our bedroom and an extra bedroom to create a master bedroom with a sitting area. He transformed our bathroom into a luxury master bathroom. Michael is a true professional who listens to his customer. His cost estimates were reasonable and they closely matched the final cost of each project. Each project was completed on time and within budget. He does not nickel and dime his customers. His attitude is professional and he really cares about the outcome of his work and how the new work blends into the original. Having hired Michael 3 times over the course of more than 10 years shows why I have also recommended Michael to my friends.

Michael planned and supervised the remodeling of our house, including 3 bathrooms, the kitchen and updated electric service. He hired all tradesmen, procured permits from the city, accompanied me to choose materials to be installed and kept me calm. Everything was completed on time and to my complete satisfaction.

Michael Menn was extremely professional and courteous from Day 1. He came up with creative ideas to remodel our Master Bath and Closet Area that no one else came up with. All of his people were highly skilled in their respective areas of expertise and did a superb job during the remodel. Michael was always there during the remodel to make sure that everything was being done properly according to the plans. When the work was finished, all of his people did an excellent job cleaning up and not leaving any dust in the rest of the house. We love our remodeled Master Bath and Closet Area. We couldn't have done it without Micheal's help.

Michael did superb work from design to execution. Worked closely with our kitchen designer to give us exactly what we wanted. Superb workmanship and compulsively solicitous of our every desire. It's hard to imagine enjoying a complete kitchen rebuild from the studs on up, but Michael actually made it a memorable and enjoyable experience. I would recommend him to anyone for any project with reservation.

Michael Menn designed and constructed with the help of his experienced pool of subcontractors the kitchen of my dreams in an older home that I love for both its tradition and its memories. It is a pleasure for me to come down in the morning to a space so much in keeping with the style of our home and offering me at the same time all that is in modo contemporary for the our time. Michael Menn is a gentleman who honors his word amd his contractural agreements. He was always available to me and responded promptly to any and all concerns or questions that I may have had. Michael is in addition someone with whom one could easily make a lasting friendship. I would not hesitiate for a minute to recommend him to others nor to contact him for any future projects that I had in mind.
