I am a contractor who has worked with Michael on many projects over the years. His attention to detail makes my job so much easier. It takes a good team to make a project come out as planned. When my husband and I began house-hunting, we realized that we’d be considering homes in need of major renovation, so we researched local architects and hired Michael Huller. We were fortunate that Michael was able to visit several properties with us and advise us on potential renovations. The home that we purchased was a charming Victorian farmhouse that needed to be made more livable for our family and to be rescued from some outdated renovations from the 80s. Michael got to work on designs even before closing. For each aspect of the project, Michael presented us with multiple designs and was happy to iterate on these designs to meet or exceed our expectations. Michael found creative solutions to various design challenges presented by our old house, and we are still thrilled, over four years later. Our project involved renovating the kitchen, adding a new mud room, merging two bedrooms into a master suite, reconfiguring a cramped bedroom with some hallway space to make a lovely guest bedroom, partitioning an overly large living space into two more useful spaces, relocating a closet in order to convert a tiny powder room in to a much more usable bathroom, redesigning an interior stairwell, relocating windows and doors (interior and exterior), and reconfiguring the back to add access to a new patio and exterior access to the basement. Throughout the design and renovation process, it was a pleasure to work with Michael. He is friendly, thoughtful, responsible, and efficient, completing all design work on time. Michael helped us find a contractor who did a fantastic job in implementing the vision that Michael helped us create. Our project went very smoothly, and we are extremely pleased that we decided to hire Michael.

We remodeled a bedroom into a study. Michael, who was recommended by our decorator, listened to our needs and then developed a series of plans that ultimately evolved to suit us very well. He then connected us with someone to build the bookshelves/desk precisely to the specifications. The project came out beautifully. Everything fit perfectly. I use the room more than any other room in our apartment. I now really appreciated how fine the plans were. We are most pleased.

We hired Michael to design an addition and to an existing Victorian. We wanted to addition to feel more modern yet blend in with the architectural detail on the Victorian. Michael expertly designed both the interior and exterior spaced so that the addition feels and looks seamless. He is knowledgeable, thoughtful, patient, and professional. Here is how you know that you hired the right architect... you hire him a second time! We started with a ranch style house but after a trip to Italy, we wanted a Villa. Tall order, you might say. Not for Michael. All you need is a vision and a whole lot of talent! He was able to suggest contractors who were also talented and easy to work with. Michael’s creativity pushed us, at times, and this stretch has given us years of pleasure. So much so that , when it was time for round 2, we were excited, when we could have been dreading another renovation. We consider ourselves quite fortunate to have had the Michael Huller experience.

I first met Michael when I was planning an upgrade to the front of my house. It was a complicated job because the original was a mixture of additions that never had an architectural design. Michael took our input and came back with a fantastic design that built on the existing structure. It beautified the front of the house an converted it from an eyesore to a standout. I have since had him design my back patio, side entrance, and eventually will use him for my kitchen.

We hired Michael to design an addition to our Cape Cod style house. We had two major challenges with the old house: small footprint and low ceiling on the 2nd store. Other complications for the project were the strict constraints imposed by the city's building codes and the historical committee's guidelines. The design process was not simple and straightforward, but Michael delivered great results that exceeded our expectations. He was able to work with our tight budget and helped us to find a contractor who did great job building the project. He was always ready to change the design to accommodate our non-standard requirements - we wanted a modern looking house that at the same time fit well into a more traditional New England neighborhood. His knowledge of the local codes and regulations and professional presentation helped us to get the approval of Newton's historical preservation committee. Michael Huller deserves our highest recommendation.

We asked Michael to work with us on a major renovation of our circa-1880 Queen Anne house in Cambridge, MA. Our project had hit a major obstacle, as our original architect abandoned the job -- this was clearly a stressful time for us, but Michael's calm demeanor and professionalism helped us to get back on course. What's more, Michael greatly improved many aspects of the old design while remaining open to collaboration with us, our contractors, and our interior designer. As a result, we could not be happier in our "new" home!

My husband and I hired Michael for our home renovation project. We're a young couple who bought a 'fixer upper' with the goal of turning it into our dream home. After meeting with a number of architects, we decided to move forward with Michael and began our planning in February 2012. We worked with Michael to create a master plan for our home that was then divided into two phases. Construction for the first phase of our project took place November 2012 thru June 2013 and included a new kitchen, powder room, mudroom, master bathroom, laundry room, and finish details throughout the house. From the start, Michael took the time to get to know us and gain a deep understanding of our goals for the project. He clearly explained his process and pricing and made us feel very comfortable that we would be working as a team and that he would be available to us throughout the project. Once Michael began the architectural plans, he provided rationale for the recommendations he was making and was very collaborative when we had ideas on modifying different design elements. Michael has a great eye and is extremely detail-oriented. He approaches his designs with extensive knowledge, and always remains focused on providing a quality design that supports every day living and functionality. Michael was also highly involved in our search for the right contractor. He assisted us in bidding out our project and remained involved during construction. When questions arose during construction or changes needed to be made in the field based on unforeseen existing conditions, Michael always made himself available in a timely manner to minimize delays and make the changes as seamless as possible. Overall, we had a very positive experience with Michael and anticipate continuing to use his services when we are ready to move forward with the second phase of our project. Michael is a genuinely nice person and a pleasure to work with. We would recommend his services to anyone looking for a reliable partner to provide high quality architectural services.

Michael Huller provided architectural and design services for a complete renovation of a Beacon Hill townhouse (2000) and a complete renovation of a triplex penthouse in the South End of Boston (2004). He has also provided advice to us when looking at other properties for potential purchase and rehab. We currently live in the South End condo which received new expanded kitchen and bathrooms, custom closets, lighting, flooring, painting and private roof deck. Michael is extremely professional, courteous and timely. His estimates are accurate. He works well with builders and subcontractors. We have received numerous positive comments on the use of our urban space. We have recommended Michael without reservation and would definately utilize his services were we to build or renovate another home.

Michael was an excellent architect. He put together a design that was a seemless fit with our existing house (an early 1900s Victorian). He was a very good communicator and easy to work with. I would recommend him without hesitation.

We hired Michael Huller to do the architectural design and plans for our $1.7 million custom home building project in 2003. He took my wish list and successfully converted it into detailed plans for whole house building from ground up. He assisted in all aspects of this project, worked well with our builder, and paid attention to small design details as well as larger and technical requirements. Excellent understanding and eye for shingle style design I wanted.

My wife and I hired Michael to design a major renovation of our home: new and bigger kitchen; new and bigger family room; full bath; new rear entryway; laundry room; office; fireplace and built-in cabinets in living room. Michael came highly recommended by several friends who had completed similar projects. He did not disappoint! We worked closely with Michael to incorporate our ideas and needs. This resulted in many revisions, but without any tension. We ended up with a tastefully designed project that looks great and is so practical for us. We receive compliments all the time. Michael does a great job of listening to what you want and then translating that into a plan. He has a great eye and understands from a practical standpoint how people will flow through a space. While MIchael's tastes are on the modern side, my taste is more "transitional" and Michael has been able to do a great job of taking my preferences and making them work. Having said that, he has a great eye, and I almost take his recommendations and have been happy I did. MIchael is very responsive and will take all the time needed to revise a plan so that every detail is accounted for. In my almost 10 years post renovation, I have recommended Michael to 5 sets of friends who hired him and they have all been very happy with the results and have gone on to recommend him as well. Michael is sensitive to budgets, knows how to communicate with contractors, and regulators (i.e, City hall) and on top of all that, from a client perspective, he is very pleasant and eager to please. He does not disappoint.
