MGS architecture is a design firm providing a wide range of architectural, interior and landscape design services. We specialize in custom residential design, residential and commercial interiors, and landscape design. We assist with feasibility studies and code research for properties in Southern California. Truly Exceptional. MGS outperformed our expectations. MGS designed the contemporary, earth-friendly remodel we wanted. We asked MGS to make the front of our home reflect the neighborhood but make the back of our home reflect our personality & priorities. Stunning results. Everyone that sees it agrees. We found Magdalena on Houzz when we were looking for an architect who would listen to what we wanted, and understand our budget restrictions and our style. Magdalena did both and more. We are so happy with the outcome of our backyard, both for her creative design and for her warmth and understanding to our needs. Client LLW 2010 extensive remodeling of house and yard 2015 remodeling master bath, master walk-in closet and study Magdalena graciously consented to help design an extensive remodeling of our house and yard in Los Angeles, when our architect son, residing in Virginia, searched for a local, talented, accomplished and proficient architect, who could work well with him, professionally and across the miles. In both projects, Magdalena introduced us to new and great ideas, found workable solutions to design problems, communicated patiently, clearly and promptly, discussed pleasantly any questions or differences of thought we had, spent hours upon hours with us without complaint, was always well-prepared for our meetings, shepherded us through city hall and its requirements and met with our neighbours to quieten their anxieties. She was consummately professional AND she treated us as friends. Would we come back to Magdalena for any future projects? No doubt! Would we recommend her to family and friends? No question!

We were very lucky to have met Magdalena Glen-Schieneman and arranged for her to design and supervise an addition we wanted for our house. Everything she created fit perfectly with the existing structure, and the whole construction process went very smoothly. If any difficulties occurred, Ms. Glen-Schieneman took care of them without causing any unneeded stress to us. We are very, very happy with the final result, in both the areas of design and construction and would most definitely recommend her.

Magdalena worked with us on a major home remodel that included a new front entry and patio, new bay window, kitchen and front and side yard hardscape. She also worked with a structural engineer to reinforce our home's front wall to bring it up to code for earthquakes. We loved working with Magda. She's very professional and has great ideas and solutions for our home, something that only a seasoned architect can provide. She's easy to work with and communicates well. Magda is the type of architect who cares about how a space functions and how the owner will live in it. She also worked very closely with the GC to make sure that all the work was completed to her specifications. Magda did a great job dealing with the local building department, obtaining permits for various aspects of the job. Magda created and executed a design that has transformed our home into a wonderful place to live. She delivered each step of the way, on time and on budget. We whole heartedly recommend Magda and hope to work with her again on other projects.

MGS has designed and built a 3000 sq foot modern house for me 8 years ago , I have enjoyed ' both aesthetically and functionally every moment of living there since Mgs has the unique ability of converting verbal descriptions into sketches and working drawings. They have recently added railings to the front steps of the house , The result of which has the appearance of Modern Sculpture and greatly enhanced the appearance while adding a necessary piece of functionality. I make no changes to the house without consulting with them so as to maintain the original concept of design

I originally discovered MGS architecture when they were (quietly) recommended to me by a very high-profile architecture firm who were way out of my budget. I called many of MGS' former clients and every single one called me back to gush about how happy they were. As a result, I hired Magdalena to design a crisp, modern home for my family on an amazing 26 acre piece of mountain property. Over the course of about one year we worked together to fully develop a set of plans and submitted them to the local building department. Unfortunately I have been unable to take the project any further, but that is through no fault of MGS. I really enjoyed working with Magdalena, she listened to all my requests and concerns and worked tirelessly to overcome any obstacles we encountered. She has tremendous knowledge, skill and taste. I would not hesitate to recommend MGS Architecture to anyone!

The project was a complete residential remodel and addition. After interviewing several architects we decided on Magdalena because she had the freshest ideas and the best personality that meshed well with ours. The original home was built in 1962 as a traditional style home of around 2500 sq. ft. We wanted a contemporary & modern style home with an open floor plan with a second floor addition to increase the sq. footage to a little over 5000. Magdalena did a fantastic job on designing our home with the precise precision and care we asked for. We started with an initial meeting at the original home and a homework assignment to complete a wish list. After that we started with sketches of what the new home could potentially look like. Once we decided on a design, the plans were drawn, submitted to the county & and city & with only 3 corrections to make, we were approved. We started together in January and the new house is close to completion and it is beyond anything we could have imagined on paper. Magdalena and her team at MGS Architecture are the best and I would recommend her a thousand times over.

I commissioned Magdalena to design a piece of exhibition furniture that would serve as a display case would include areas where visitors could sit. The exhibition focused on Frank Lloyd Wright and the Japanese print. Wright, an avid collector of Japanese prints had curated several exhibitions in the early twentieth century at the Chicago Art Institute which included benches and pedestals that he had designed specifically for the shows. So, I was looking for an important element for our exhibition -- a work of art itself -- that would capture some of Wright's design aesthetic. I was thrilled with Magdalena's design. I also appreciated all the time she gave to convey her ideas to the cabinet builder who realized her ideas. I sought Magdalena's advice on another exhibition element in 2012. She gave crucial input regarding the design, structure, and placement of a viewing platform which allowed visitors to get a new perspective on a large-scale floor installation. Again, Magdalena's courtesy, creativity, and insights were incredibly appreciated. She has an amazing sensitivity to each project and gets to the core of it sometimes before I can even express it in words.
