We have worked with Marylyn on a few projects including the full interior of a new large country home, the complete renovation of a century farm house and the renovation of our home in the city. We keep going back to her for her creativity, attention to detail and commitment to a successful outcome. As for the most recent project, renovating the house in the city, we are delighted with the outcome. The house now a home is much more enjoyable, bright and sunny, open, contemporary and convenient. It will add 20 more enjoyable years to this phase of our lives. .

My husband and I have used Marylyn in 2 projects. The first was for interior upgrades to our country property near Collingwood, including new lighting design and selection of fixtures, millwork design, tile and paint work. We used her again more recently to do all the interior design work for a full house renovation, including new addition, for our house in Toronto. On both projects, we loved the results and really enjoyed working with Marylyn. She is a good listener, was very patient in addressing our questions and concerns and understood our vision for these 2 projects. Marylyn prepares very detailed plans so there were no surprises in the course of the work.

We hired Marylyn Joel to provide her expertise for renovation of the interior of a 35 year old approximately 1700 sq. ft. ranch bungalow. The primary focus was a revision to the en-suite and main bathrooms on the main floor but eventually included the family room and kitchen on the main floor and a bedroom in the basement. In the end the bathrooms on the main floor were totally redone, the fireplace and floor in the family room and kitchen were updated, the trim, doors , window coverings and lighting were upgraded throughout the main floor and the second bedroom was built in the basement. Ms. Joel was very responsive to our needs and had excellent suggestions with respect to layout, materials and colours to create the spaces we were striving for. She produced clear and concise design drawings for our approval that carried through to the contractors who were able to give us firm prices and schedules to do the work. Further the clarity of the drawings made possible the execution and satisfactory completion within acceptable timelines. Her knowledge and wealth of contacts meant we were able to source the materials and finishes we wanted without any of the anticipated difficulties. Overall we were very pleased with the result.

We renovated 2 bathrooms, flooring, doors, lighting, trim, fireplace,etc. Marylyn was superb! I would highly recommend her. She produced very detailed drawings of each aspect of the work require - electrical, plumbing, floor tile arrangement, door placement, window trims etc. Our contractors loved working from her very accurate drawings. It allowed us to receive a precise estimate and we were able to stay within the estimate. She also helped us in buying our tile, bath, lighting and plumbing needs. She asked questions about what we were going to use a particular space for and probed to figure out the best use of these spaces. I got lighting I would not have thought to use but love it now that I have it. I have a cohesive design and we just love living in our renovated house. She thought of things which are important to the design which we would never have thought to include. It is definitely worth hiring Marylyn Joel for her professionalism, insight and ability to produce a very high quality finished product.

Marylyn has worked with us over the past year to formulate a plan for the interior design and decor of our new home. She is a highly professional and competent designer that was an instrumental asset in completing this project. From furniture layout to an electrical/lighting plan, paint and tile combinations to millwork and fireplace design, her attention to detail was outstanding and dramatically improved communication with our builder and his respective trades in achieving the final outcome. Marylyn promptly returns phone calls and always provides constructive feedback. She coordinated well planned out meetings with suppliers and would always followup to make sure we were receiving the correct product in a timely fashion. Our home is now exactly what we wanted it to be with rooms that stand out on their own and yet flow with the rest of the house. While our house is now relatively complete, we will be using Marylyn in the future for further furniture and decor selections to achieve our ultimate dream home. We give her our highest recommendation!

Marylyn was the sole ARIDO designer in our area (Southern Georgian Bay). We hired her because she was local and because we felt we could work with her. She prepared the shop drawings for our cabinetry, and specified the kitchen and bathroom finishes, interior trim and fireplace, stone flooring, and interior and exterior paint colours. She responded to our requests in a timely fashion and her suggestions were in keeping with our preferences and existing furnishings. She was a pleasure to work with, always upbeat and ready to help. Only our budget prevented us from relying on her for every decision!

A few years ago Marylyn helped us with the new design of our Toronto kitchen. It is a very small space but she carefully designed a custom space for us and we LOVE it. We even have a dog gate that slides into the wall when not in use. She also helped us source out some new dining room furniture, including a custom piece that uses the same granite as the kitchen. Marylyn has a great attention to detail and follows through with the trades to ensure that her high standards are realized.

Marylyn was hired to do the interior finishing of our home. She designed all the millwork, complete with drawings. She worked up our lighting drawings. She designed our fireplace, which is the focal point of our home. She designed all the finishing woodwork, that is the finishing touch of our home. We get many many compliments. She provided suggestions for hardware, bathroom finishing. Etc. She helped us with purchasing furnishings. Marylyn made our major project run smoothly. We are forever great full. Many peoples say they will never build another home, with Marylyn on my team I would.
