Hundred Mile House leads all phases of design and development for residential renovation and new construction. We’ll explore design options that best suit you, your property and your budget, and then guide everything that’s necessary to get you to the finish line. We know trustworthy tradespeople to build your project, have access to suppliers with great materials and furniture, and we’ll work closely with you to make sure you stay on budget and on time.
Hundred Mile House was founded in 2006 by Duane Smith. He’s an award-winning designer with a passion for innovative, beautiful environments. Duane had a unique privilege to study sustainable architecture at the Bauhaus in Germany during the early days of its rebirth. There, he established his appreciation for modernist architecture and design for the masses. After 20 years as an entrepreneur and designer of everything from lighting to apparel to homes, he brings a breadth of knowledge and a unique perspective to residential design.

Duane Smith if Hundred Mile House executes my design ideas for a complete hut renovation of my Joshua Tree house, Quail’s End at Joshua Tree. He offered several versions of my concepts and substantially improved upon my original concept. In addition he handled all the permits and helped source local vendors in the area, supervising the build most of the way. Hsiang is a lovely, talented person whose work is always superior. I recommend him highly! He’s a pleasure to work with too!

Duane is very easy to work with. He has an excellent eye for design. He follows through from concept to completion. He is very respectful of budget constraints. He is completely comfortable dealing with complex budget spreadsheets and simultaneously choosing the perfect tile.

Duane at Hundred Mile House is a fantastic professional and an ideal partner for an architectural project. His work is creative and beautiful - but perhaps more importantly, he puts enormous emphasis on understanding the site, the experience we want to create, and the kind of family we are. He walked us through the process, timelines and fees up front, and then delivered to those expectations -- while being flexible and responsive whenever we'd throw him a curveball. We've also seen and experienced other examples of his work, and what they have in common is that they are beautiful spaces (worthy of any design mag) that are also warm, comfortable and engaging.

Duane helped us while we were house-hunting in Palm Springs by visiting properties with us and quickly visualizing potential renovations and plans and estimating the construction costs. He's positive, professional and a very good listener who understood and interpreted our wishes into his design concepts beautifully. Once we close on our new place, we will be hiring him for our renovation project.

Comentado: Great coatrack!Hi Isabel- the coat rack is from the early 2000s by a Canadian company called Pure Design. I don't believe they're in business anymore, but you might be able to find one on 1st dibs.

Comentado: Will you share what this renovation cost?Sure. The total project was about $175/SF not including the original purchase price. There are neighbors on 2 sides, but nothing across the road toward the mountain.
