HUNTER PORTER ELDRIDGE, AIA
Architect | Principal
With more than 25 years of experience in the fields of architecture, civil, environmental, mechanical, structural and photovoltaic engineering, land surveying and construction, Hunter Porter Eldridge brings his extensive knowledge, thoughtful and contemporary design aesthetic, and unique ability to connect with clients’ needs to every project.
Hunter is passionate about integrating sustainable, environmentally sensitive practices into his work based on the unique opportunities presented by each client, site, and desired architectural solution. As a fifth generation native to Monterey County, he has an innate understanding of the region, its history, and its distinct microclimates, as well as knowledge of the materials, design solutions, and building processes that adapt best to the area.
The firm Hunter Porter Eldridge Architecture is comprised of Principal Architect Hunter Porter Eldridge along with two other design associates with Architectural Degrees from accredited design universities as well as administrative staff. We are a team with the bandwidth and broad skillsets to handle larger scale projects.
Naturally, his long standing connection to the region and community has produced a deep understanding of land use policy, site and building design, construction technology, and regulatory approvals along with established relationships with authorities having jurisdiction from all regions of the Monterey Peninsula as well as Monterey County Resource Management Agency.
“My role as an architect is not to impose my vision on a client. I listen first - always - and then act as an expert guide to bring the project to life in line with the site, the land, the style, and the client’s needs - whether its a business, an individual, a couple, or a family. It’s a partnership - from beginning to end.”
Hunter currently serves as the vice-chair for the City of Pacific Grove's Architectural Review Board in order to help maintain harmonious development in the very special coastal town where his business is based.
Hunter is a California licensed architect, and holds registration with the American Institute of Architects. He earned an M.S. in Civil and Environmental Engineering from California Polytechnic University, San Luis Obispo and a B.S. in Biochemistry from the University of California, Santa Cruz.
