Christian Snowden Design offers full service design focusing on modern residential new construction, interior renovations, spatial reinvention, and small to large additions throughout the state of Virginia. After earning my professional Masters Degree and working in the architectural industry for a few years, I realized my passion for high end, modern residential architecture. In a shorter amount of time than most, I have been lucky enough to design and manage the construction of a modern residence over a million dollars. I have also designed multiple interior/exterior renovations to homes and my own industrial loft in a warehouse. The firm’s noticeable and unique designs are established by the complementary interplay between rich materiality, lighting (both natural and artificial), and well thought-out floor plans. Details separate good design from poor design. The precise interaction of key building elements determines the success of the project. The design process cannot neglect the importance of the space created, movement within that space, and the power of the space to inspire. It is my hope that the homes and spaces I create will captivate the human mind and spirit, communicate a respect for the environment and community context, and embody a critical transition towards the future of contemporary design. A majority of architecture and interior design is repetitive, predictable, and eventually becomes dated. Architects are products of their professional environment, generation and schooling. A younger generation of architects and designers are the future, because we realize that everything must, and will change. Renovations have to be done to erase design elements specific to unfortunate periods of design. New construction residential design must predict the future of sustainability, technology, form and finishes. Each budget is unique and having been involved with large and small scale projects, I have become skilled in the art of ‘value engineering’ projects while still achieving desired and quality results. Though very knowledgeable on my own, I have an extensive consultant list of fellow designers, engineers, contractors and woodworkers that I rely on to deliver the best result: a design fitted to a client’s unique needs and desires.
