Lieb Testimonial regarding CARLSON Design & Build, Inc. May 4, 2016 Several years ago my wife and I had decided to finish our 1500 square foot walk-out basement. Since the basement had significant square footage and offered the benefits of the walk-out, we wanted to make sure that the use of space was maximized. My wife and I had a general idea as to the ‘look’ we wanted to have in our finished basement, and we had a general idea as to what the space should be used for as far as rooms and general layout. Like most people, I had seen multiple examples over the years of the ‘home made’ finished basement, and did not want to end up with a poorly planned layout with wasted space. We contracted with Terry Carlson to design the layout and detail the finishing plan for the basement, as well as the work itself. We have been and continue to be extremely pleased with the entire process and were thrilled with the final outcome. Mr. Carlson brought some truly outstanding ideas of not only how to effectively use the space available, but added some fabulous ideas to make the finished product look professional and very unique. We still get very positive comments on our basement, and it is now a very comfortable, welcoming space that has proven to be an excellent venue for both entertaining and personal enjoyment. I would recommend CARLSON Design & Build to anyone who wants an outstanding finished product with a touch of your own personality and uniqueness.

Lorraine Coxson

I have used Terry Carson for two major renovations, a master bathroom and a covered deck. Both projects turned out fabulous and were completed without a hitch. I was impressed as he was one of the few builders that would give me an estimate broken down into labor and supplies. He was very willing to help the project work within budget restraints and to was flexible with ideas. All work completed was done to a high standard, and looked great. Terry makes sure every detail is taken care of and brings up ideas that I never would of thought of. When he remodeled the bathroom we went on a vacation and came home to a completed project, clean house, and he added the extra touch of flowers in the bathroom . He is very good at communicating with you throughout a project so you know exactly what to expect and how things are going. I would recommend Terry to anyone who had a home project. Lorraine Coxson

My husband and I recently purchased an older home that needed a new driveway, had a cracked and uneven backyard patio and a damaged front porch column. We also wanted to add additional outside lighting. All work had to comply with our Homeowner's Association rules. Terry Carlson of Carlson Design and Build was recommended to us by our neighbor and when he came to our home, he impressed us by offering his suggestions on how to make these repairs in a structurally sound and economical way. Mr. Carlson, who is also a licensed architect, provided detailed plans, a written description of the entire project and its cost. And, surprisingly helpful to us, included a calendar that indicated the dates when each part of the project was expected to start and finish. We always knew what day someone was coming to our home, who it was and what work was going to be done. If there was a change in schedule, we were always notified. Also, Mr. Carlson had prior knowledge of the rules and regulations of our HOA and handled all verbal communication with them and all required paperwork. Mr. Carlson brings with him a skilled team. His carpenter, the electricians and concrete workers did an exceptional job for us and were professional in every way. Our new outside lighting now illuminates our new driveway, our sound front porch column and our handsome Trex deck. All completed on time and within the approved cost. We are very happy with the results and highly recommend Carlson Design and Build.

My wife and I engaged Carlson Design and Build to remodel the basement in our home. The challenges were many: A limited amount of space to work with, as well as basement finish from a previous owner that was not built to code or officially permitted. Mr. Carlson spent significant time with my wife and I discussing the design and making sure that our vision was incorporated into the design. He made helpful suggestions and recommendations as we moved through the design process, until we were totally happy with the design plan. When the actual construction started, Mr. Carlson provided craftsmen in carpentry, electrical, and plumbing that excelled in their trade and took pride in the work they were doing. While the construction was proceeding, Mr. Carlson oversaw the progress and work almost on a daily basis. As each day’s work ended the workers would clean their work area and put up tools etc. in preparation for the next day’s activity. All work among the trades was well coordinated as well as deliveries of material such as granite and cabinetry, which avoided unnecessary delays. The project was completed on schedule, on budget and to our complete satisfaction. We were most impressed with Mr. Carlson’s attention to detail in all aspects of the project as it progressed. He handled the permitting and inspection process effectively and efficiently and resolved any issues with the County in a timely manner. Both my wife and I would highly recommend Carlson Design and Build for high quality, professional design and construction work.

Our master bath was really beginning to show its age, so my wife and I decided it was time for a dramatic remodel. Since I’m pretty handy and enjoy this type of work, I decided to do the project work myself. However, I definitely needed help with getting my vision for the remodel transferred to an actual workable plan. Terry facilitated this expertly. He listen to what I wanted to do, and came back with the architectural drawings, and demolition and construction plans. Every detail was addressed, including permitting, project sequencing, building codes, and inspection requirements. Terry made this project almost as simple as painting by numbers. I would highly recommend Carlson Design & Build to anyone interested in working with architect who also has the extremely valuable general contractor experience. This do-it-yourselfer couldn’t have done it without Terry’s expert guidance.

Bonits Slothower

Terry Carlson of Carlson Design & Build, our architect, helped us come up with solutions for our new front yard landscaping which included a wall sculpture, new gardens, stone entry steps, and lighting. He was hands-on and present with answers. Problems were solved and all promises fulfilled. We are happy with our new dramatic enhancement to our 1950's blond brick home.
