COAL Cornwall is an Architecture & Interior Design Studio based in St Agnes. Our inspiration comes directly from this magical landscape that we live and work in. Whilst each project is unique, the central theme of our work is to create sustainable buildings which are synonymous with their surroundings. Our design approach is to explore local ideas and materials, and to work alongside local crafts-people to create bespoke buildings and interiors which enhance the environment they are part of. We have experience working at all stages of a project, and across a range of scales, from refurbishments of tiny crumbling cottages to larger new build houses.

Lesley Williams

Emily and Joe have designed and managed a complete makeover for our barn which had been sadly neglected by the previous owners. The design met our brief completely and we now have a home to be proud of and we would never have had the imagination to use the colour schemes and layout that Emily and Joe suggested. They managed the whole project from design, employing contractors, ordering and upacking furniture and dressing each room beautifully.

Jane Crutcher

Emily and Joe produced a concept design for our barn extension. I needed some initial direction and ideas for both the layout design and the interior look for the scheme. Their presentation exceeded all expectation, they came up with some inspired ideas I’d never have thought of myself . They are a very creative team who are a pleasure to deal with and I couldn't recommend them highly enough.

Working with Emily and Joe at Coal was so easy and enjoyable. Extremely approachable, accommodating, and helpful (as we live 300 miles away!)...they are full of fresh ideas and creativity. Using colour texture and pattern to bring a wonderful sense of calm and comfort to the rooms. Keeping us up to date with progress at all times and working to a budget and deadline. I cannot recommend them highly enough, we are thrilled with the results. Thank you !
