Boerner Lay Architects is an architectural firm located in Morris County NJ. We believe the advantage of our firm is personal attention. When you work with Boerner Lay Architects you will always be discussing your project with an owner. We specialize in new homes, additions and renovations, historic homes and barn conversions with distinctive design and attention to detail.
Boerner Lay Architects is a husband and wife team. They met in England, moved to the States, were married and eventually started their own firm together.
As a child Cindy was always interested in building stuff (and sometimes tearing it down.) There were always Legos and Lincoln Logs about. Her father was somewhat of a self taught designer and builder and she soon took to helping him tear down walls and build new additions (usually in a weekend!) After high School Cindy earned a full scholarship to study at New Jersey Institute of Technology's School of Architecture and graduated Summa Cum Laude in 1996 with a Bachelors in Architecture and a minor in Literature. Her senior year she spent studying abroad at the University of Bath in England. It was in Bath where she met her husband, Micah, who at the time was studying structural engineering. Upon her return to the states Cindy worked at a small firm in Morristown gaining invaluable design and business experience. After completing her internship and passing her licensing exams (all 12!) she opened her own firm in the summer of 2002. She lives and works in a bucolic setting of converted barns in picturesque Long Valley, NJ. When not designing buildings for her clients, she is busy renovating her own historic home. She also enjoys perennial gardening, camping with her family, photography and restoring antique Mustangs.
Micah was born and raised in England and attended the University of Bath studying civil/ structural engineering. He has always dreamed of travelling and owning his own business. After graduating he headed back to New Jersey with Cindy and worked for an engineering firm in New Brunswick. After completing his internship he then joined Cindy working in their own Architectural practice. When not designing structures and sizing beams, Micah enjoys spending time with his family, building, camping, fishing and photography.
