AD Shapiro Architects is a small, yet vibrant firm. Established in 1994, projects have ranged from car dealerships and mixed use buildings to single family home designs and remodels. Founder and Principal Tony Shapiro continues to explore different styles from modern to craftsmen and everything in between. An emphasis is placed on making the project mesh with the surrounding landscape and contribute positively to the community. The AD Shapiro process begins with listening to the client verbalize their objectives space by space. That is followed by the creation of a Functional Program outlining the goals for each space and how the client intends to live in and use each part of the home. The Conceptual Phase comes next with broad sketches giving the clients several different options to choose from; the final solution is usually a composite of the best options. Design Development fleshes these ideas out in a more detailed manner and eventually leads to Construction Documents used in the permitting and building processes. Principal Tony has extensive experience with land use laws and the permitting process and is committed to walking clients through these often laborious obstacles to ensure that their vision becomes reality.
