When we purchased our home with the intent of adding an addition, including an indoor swimming pool and mezzanine craft room, New Century Design were recommended to be a part of the construction team. Shawn and his team worked with us to design a space that exceeded all of our requirements and expectations. As the MD requirements threw some twists into the plans, New Century Design were able to find solutions that met permitting requirements without changing the integrity of our vision. Shawn and his team were a pleasure to work with. We would recommend them to friends and family, and would absolutely use them again if the need were to arise.

Great to work with and get things done. New Century, came in to a project where another vendor didn't think the discretionary items we wanted to build would get approved. In the end these guys, were easy to communicate with, fair budget and on time. They got all of our discretionary build items and we got a rear attached garage in an infill. We have referred friends to them who used them and were also happy. We would recommend them anytime and we will use them again for future projects.

We've worked with Shawn on three large projects now, two homes in Calgary and our place in California. He was great to work with! He'd patiently listen to what we wanted, then provided us with calm, cool council to help make our, and his, ideas doable and look great. He keeps on eye on both the finished look and how it will be constructed (we wish our builders and trades did the same!) He was on-time, prepared, polite, and professional for every meeting and phone call. Turn around time for drawings and communication was excellent and there was never any cost surprises. Construction of our dream home designed by Shawn is almost complete (as of July 2018) and we are absolutely thrilled with the results. Shawn was fantastic to work with. Amazing experience! What a breath of fresh air. After paying $3600 to another company which was the worst experience ever with no success and nothing but excuses of why they need to charge more. Meeting these two gents have brought the excitement back with building again. I highly recommend talking to Shawn and Ryan for any design needs. Shawn and his team took our wishlist and made it a reality through their design of our new home. After an initial meeting to go over our needs, Shawn and Ryan came back with floorplans that ticked all the boxes, required very few revisions and stayed within our desired square footage and budget. The exterior and rooflines came out exactly as we envisioned. Attention to detail was excellent and they even got creative and added a secret tiny door between our young kids' closets. They showed a clear understanding of local bylaws and building codes and knowledge of the construction process. Always professional, they even hand-delivered us a gift at the end of the process, and Shawn has also offered to help us use his drawings to make artistic renderings. We were referred to New Century Design Inc. through a mutual friend who told us about Shawn's down to earth demeanor, and how he really spent the time to listen to his clients needs. We would gladly say that our experience with Shawn exceeded our expectations and was excellent. We had searched hundreds, maybe thousands of floor plans to find what we wanted and they always fell short in some way. Shawn went through all of our ideas and thoughts and ran with them and began to formulate a floor plan. We came across challenges in the layout to maintain the square footage we had in mind, and we began to look at other options. Shawn sensed that we were beginning to compromise and assured us that we didn't have to and that he would take the time to find a way to make it work. He did not disappoint. We watched him bring to life our dream on paper in ways that we had never thought of. It was surreal to see something be created in black and white that you had only thought of in your head for so long. Throughout the entire process Shawn provided gentle suggestions to optimize the spaces and ways to make things aesthetically pleasing. Although not every suggestion (but many) was a fit for us, Shawn was very receptive to feedback and more than willing to make tweaks or changes if needed to ensure that it would be the home WE wanted. We also tried to maintain a modest budget for the overall build of the home. Shawn kept this in mind and always made great suggestions as to ways to maintain the affordability of the home construction. In addition to all of this, Shawn has been a wonderful source of knowledge in the industry connecting us to like minded contractors and service providers. I cant describe how happy we are with our house plans. We are now building and almost have the house to lockup stage and there isnt a thing that we would change. We absolutely LOVE our plan. It fits the property perfectly, taking advantage of the amazing views, and is so simple yet functional. We were on a tight budget for the build so Shawn was able to keep the plan simple to keep building costs down, yet still managed to make it look amazing. Shawn was extremely patient during the design process, and just made it a really enjoyable experience. HIGHLY recommend.

New Century Design was recommended to us when we were looking to build our new, inner-city home. We could not have been happier with the whole experience. New Century Design used the latest architectural technology, and was very easy to work with. Their ideas were right on target every time. They were able to take what was in our heads and design it! It was a pleasure working with New Century Design, and I would use them again on our next project.

We used Shawn at New Century Design for our new-build home, and for so many reasons, we couldn't be happier with the results. Shawn spent the first meeting listening to our ideas and helping us to hone in on the particular style to which we were the most attracted. Knowing how many beautiful housing styles there are out there, this was no small feat! From that point on, the real house design began. Never once did we feel as though he was pushing us in a direction that he preferred; rather, he always listened and then used his experience in design to make our ideas really come to life. This is not to say that he didn't make suggestions or guide the conversations when needed, but it was always done in a helpful way that left you feeling as though you'd just taken a step in the right direction. When it came time to have the architectural drawings done, New Century Design always had them completed on time. It was extremely refreshing to work with a company who did exactly what they said they would do. Further, when revisions were required, they were very conscious of taking our comments into consideration and implementing the changes quickly and correctly. One of the most valuable assets in New Century Designs' repertoire - other than their ability to create truly beautiful homes - is their knowledge of all of the different zoning laws, building restrictions/allowances, by-laws, etc. In our particular situation, we were in a rush to break ground at a specific point in time. For our plans to be approved without any intervention, we needed them to be contextual, though we had no real idea of what that meant for the neighborhood into which we were moving. Not surprisingly, New Century Design was extremely knowledgeable in that area. They ensured that our house plans didn't break any of the "rules" of the neighborhood (for lack of a better description) and we were able to start building right on time. When you are so looking forward to your new space, this is an unimaginable relief. I have heard of other peoples' experiences in trying to design a house, and it often sounds quite stressful. I would never once use the word "stressful" to describe our experience with New Century Design; rather, words like "exciting", "easy" and "excellent" come to mind. We have been living in our new home for approximately six months now, and are constantly pleased with how beautiful it looks from the outside, and how well the spaces flow on the inside. We would (and have!), without hesitation, recommend New Century Design for any of your housing design needs.
