I was impressed by his experience, professionalism, and friendliness. Jamie’s extensive knowledge of building codes and regional requirements helped me navigate the permit process and avoid costly mistakes. He provided valuable professional advice that was much appreciated. When my builder failed at the last minute, Jamie also helped me source a contractor for the build. Jamie and I have worked together on multiple renovation projects and every time he has taken an enthusiastic interest in the home and worked with the owners, my team and the municipality to get the design exacted. He has a passion for what he does and a design company that reflects that in its projects. I am very pleased working with Jamie. He came up with a design for an addition that fits well and compliments the existing structure. He was very helpful in dealing with the cities planning and building inspectors. He follows through from design to project completion. I would like to start by saying that I am a very analytical, perfectionistic and meticulous person. I could not have found a better match for my personality. Other people have mentioned it already, but he really did go above and beyond with my project. He was always trying to recommend solutions and resources to keep the renos within my budget. I really felt like I had him in my corner the whole time. He put his heart and soul in my project. Jamie was really patient with my requests always took the time to explain things to me so I would understand the reasoning behind certain design choices. Finally, he takes great pride in his work. It is extremely rare these days to find someone as dedicated as he is. I would not hesitate to recommend him to anyone.

We found Drolet Design through the Houzz 'Find professionals' service. We have really enjoyed working with Jamie Drolet on our project, involving an extensive kitchen reno and new deck build. He is easy to talk with, listened to our ideas and totally took them onboard, while making suggestions to improve the design and streamline the project for us. He also has lots of good connections in the building community, which has been invaluable as finding trades can be a challenge at the best of times, never mind during the Covid building boom! We highly recommend Jamie and his design services.

I am currently working on two projects (new builds) with Jamie Drolet of Drolet Design. One of our builds is a modern, open concept, custom-rancher. Jamie took our concepts from an ‘as built’ drawing and masterfully created a new architectural design that was exactly what our customers were looking for. The other project is a beautiful spec home that Jamie designed to meet the exact functional details requested by the owners, as well as modifying the build to meet the municipality ‘s guidelines. Jamie’s best attributes are honesty, innovation, vision and open communication. His drawings are precise, very clear and easy to follow. His ability to communicate with customers is always timely and respectful. Don’t let his quiet demeanor fool you! He misses nothing! If there is a problem, Jamie will fix it. Our clients keep asking us how we found Jamie. It was through word of mouth from other satisfied building contractors. We are excited about working with him now and into the future. We are very proud to have him on our team. We have recommended Jamie to other clients who need design work done. Jamie spent a lot of time talking to us about how we wanted our house to look and function, inside and out. He visited the site often, with and without us. Jamie communicated well with the contractor and with us and was quick to respond to questions and comments. He was incredibly user friendly and patient, able on his computer to generate our thoughts and ideas and put them in context so we could visualize the end result. He was well versed in the up to date building codes and could keep us in check when required! We are writing this letter to indicate our great satisfaction with the design work performed by Jamie Drolet for us. In January of 2020 we began to design a new home in Sooke, British Columbia. We retained Mr. Drolet to design builder-ready plans for us and to also prepare 3-D renderings of the home. Starting from a very rough scheme that we had put together and our expressed needs, Mr. Drolet drafted complete blueprints, elevations, detailed selection of components, and electrical and plumbing specifications. We found Mr. Drolet very knowledgeable, easy to work with, and an excellent guide to the construction industry on Vancouver Island. As a bonus, he is also a useful resource for ideas on where to travel and camp on the island. Perhaps most impressive was his ability to improve almost everything he touched. He took the scheme we started with and made multiple adjustments that dramatically improved the layout and use of space, while at the same time improving the ease of construction. He took the list of kitchen cabinets and appliances that we requested along with an open space concept and made it all work symmetrically and elegantly. He provided cost effective solutions to some difficult problems. The plans were completed within budget and on time. Builders were uniformly impressed with how detailed the plans were and how those plans made their job easier. We would highly recommend Mr. Drolet to anyone seeking to design a home.

Jamie of Drolet Design helped us reimagine a tedious lot and gave us an exciting vision. He helped us liaise with engineers, city planners, and contractors. He went above and beyond to come visit our site and make visits to future neighbors. He even showed us a number of his own builds and the way his past clients welcomed him into their homes I knew he was a man of integrity with a talent for design. Would highly recommend this business.
