We initially picked this company because they were friendly and very responsive which was something we were having trouble with. They were much more expensive than other architects but we figured that their responsiveness was worth the extra money. We worked with the architect on our design and loved what we came up with. When we finally got a contractor on board the contractor found multiple mistakes in the drawings. We also had some issues that the contractor felt in their experience was bad design. When the contractor tried to make changes to the design after the plans were approved and permitted by the city, archdesign took a long time to get back to them. Then it seemed that there was argument which delayed the project by at least two weeks. I was brought into the argument by archdesign and was told that I didn't really know what I was talking about. After that I had another call from archdesign where I was told I should call another contractor and was told mine was in competent and over priced. I've used the contractor previously without any issues and they were cheaper than the other bids. I felt belittled by archdesign during this argument. At one point during the whole debacle, I asked I was being involved again because it would require additional charges which I thought it would because the contract reads so. I was told no. However a week or so later when the contractor picked up the plans I was informed archdesign was billing me. When I called to settle the issue, archdesign became very agitated and told me that any good contractor would be footing the bill. I politely informed archdesign that because I asked if I would be charged and was told no and because I was not sent any sort of billing, I was unwilling to pay for the additional services. After much heated conversation, the individual at archdesign on the phone said they would be waving the charges and hung up on me. About in hour later, I received an email saying that this individual was unable to wave charges and that I would be charged. The issues we're dealt with totally unprofessional. The bill was only $360 or so and archdesign was unwilling to admit any fault in the situation and suck up the costs. The next day after paying (yes, I had to pay a portion of the bill), I received an email from the individual causing the bulk of the issues blaming the contractor for the entire fall out of our whole "relationship" and that we should consider using archdesign in the future. After the drawings were picked up, I was told politely by my contractor that archdesign has had similar problems with designs and processing design changes in a timely manner with him and other contractors. Again later, on as the project is continuing, I was told by the framer that there were multiple places in the design that didn't make sense and weren't what he sees on a normal basis for the type of job. The whole experience has been a mess...never again will I use them.

We own a construction company focusing on remodeling and first/second story additions. We have used Arc Design for several projects. They recently finished plans for us on a project for a home on the water. My home owners and I meet with Randy to discuss what they wanted to create. We meet a few times after to fine tune a couple of things on the plans. Randy and his staff are very knowledgeable. My home owners who have done renovations prior we so pleased with their experience. It is so important to know that when we hire a company they will do what they say they can do. I always know I can count on Arc Design. I have recommended Arc Design to several others and will continue to do so.

While the people I have dealt with have been personable I do not believe I would go this route again when planning an addition. The price seemed more then reasonable at the time, however, there are pieces I did not realize were missing since this was my first home remodel/addition. A designer, certified building planner or contractor/designer would be worth the extra money. As the web-site suggests, bring your ideas and they will put them into plans, however my experience has been to expect the minimum. I had and continue to have concerns, here are a few: I asked for a hallway change, which was done, when I questioned the fact that the air conditioning duct system branched out there and what to do, I was informed that the contractor would make that decision. When I asked for a shower in the master bath instead of a tub, I got this small 3' X 3' shower instead of using the full space that would of been the tub. The door into the bath swung in, requiring closure to maneuver inside the bath, I had to suggest a pocket door. I inquired about the electrical, I was informed that the electrical would be to code and that anything additional the contractor would take care of. When I picked up the plans last week, the wrong address was on the plans. Becky assured me City of St Petersburg would just white through and correct it, and Randy blamed the mistake on someone else. I will be getting with the contractor this week. If all goes as it should through the permitting process, I will update this review.

We purchased a 1956 concrete block bungalow from my mother-in-law’s estate deciding it would be a nice rental property in the Clearwater market. Having had few upgrades since its initial construction, we wanted to give the place a facelift and add much needed living space to the 1096 sq. ft. house. We talked with several architectural firms in the Clearwater/Tampa area and settled on Randy Young’s ArcDesign firm after reading all of their positive reviews. I should pause for a moment and let you know, we decided on ArcDesign over a few days’ time during the Christmas holiday while vacationing in Clearwater Beach. Randy was away for the holiday, but a very talented designer and draftsperson Judith available and willing to meet on-site during the holiday. Her availability really made a difference in our ability to convey firsthand our hopes for the property. Randy and Judith took our fragmented thoughts and inputs and molded them into three high level designs broken into two major sub categories; 1). renovation of the existing footprint, 2). addition of ~500 sq. ft master suite. We chose to move forward with a full set of drawings for a two bedroom/two bath and three bedroom/two bath to get comparative bids. The designs are amazing and worthy of new construction project much less a renovation. We are making one last set of updates and hope to begin construction within the month. We couldn’t be happier and plan to use them again in the future on other projects.

It was a joy to work with Randy and his staff. I had recently purchased a house that needed much renovation. Being on a limited budget, I wanted to get a realistic view of what changes I might make. Randy came to my house and spent a long time there observing and talking about possibilities. That day we agreed on a fair price for his help. Later, he drew up detailed plans showing the house before renovation and after renovation. The smile you see on Randy's face in his picture is a true representation of his spirit. The smile is tripled when you visit his office and meet his staff. Today's date is March 21, 2017. I do not have project pictures to show because I decided to sell the house and purchase something a bit smaller. Did Randy meet my budget and deadlines? Yes! Was he knowledgeable and encouraging? Yes. Would I work with him and his staff again? Definitely! Did I make some good friends at ArcDesign? You bet I did!

I found ArcDesign via Houzz and found the process to be very easy and effective. He understood what I wanted and gave me at least 3 floor plan options. From there I made the tweaks that I wanted and it was done. Randy and he staff were very pleasant to work with and turn around time for changes and or questions was very timely.

We hired Randy at ARC Design for the redesign of a 1940's home that we purchased. Due to multiple add-on's throughout the decades, it had a very choppy floor plan and didn't make sense. Renovation plans and drawings for upgrade our existing structure. I asked to have a detailed plan for moving the bedroom wall out about 5 feet. Also, modernize the inside and remove walls between the kitchen and living room. Both bathrooms will be upgraded and redesigned.

In dealing with ArcDesign and primarily the President of the Company, Randy Young - it was nothing but simple and enjoyable. Considering our complete home remodel has been all done long distance. Randy was quick to respond to calls as well as to any changes we desired by shooting over an immediate email with the changes. Found to actively listen to our needs and desires. We moved to town from Nashville and found ArcDesign and architect Randy Young through his online portfolio. His work was timely, he was extremely responsive to our questions and ideas. He consulted us on all crucial matters, but produced a workable draft after one consultation. He worked closely with our builder, and resolved issues quickly. The office is friendly and helpful. This will be our second time working with ArcDesign (Randy) and we are so looking forward to it. On our first project, he designed an addition to our home that looks and feels like it was always there. From the outside to the inside, it is just perfect. The high windows, extra large back window, and french doors add charm and light into the 900 square foot room. Randy's design was perfect and truly fit our needs. Randy at Arc Design has delivered as promised. I hired him to design our new house and he delivered the initial set of floor plans very quick. From the initial meeting he had some very good ideas to add to the ones I already had. He has come up with several excellent design ideas that will make the home really stand out. Randy from ArcDesign was very professional. We needed a plan to renovate our home to provide another bedroom. Randy came up with a couple of options which he emailed with in a weeks time. Once we decided on a plan, then we had permit drawings formed. It took a little over a week, and Randy delivered the plans to us himself. We are still in the process of getting a contractor, so we may need Randy again once the project really gets going. I know he will be available, and able to help us out along the way. Randy first created a design plan for our project. He later followed up with complete architectural drawings. He did a wonderful job. ArcDesign provided plans and designed an interior remodel including vaulting the ceiling with the most practical and economical considerations to meet my budget. We have done several renovation projects but never hired an architect before. This job was a little tricky because it involved creating living space out of an attached garage and new construction of indoor/outdoor space attached to the house. Randy was very easy to work with, had good ideas, and did everything he said he would and on time. He produced permit drawings and recommended contractors to do the job. We are not yet finished but are confident that Randy will provide any necessary backup if we need it.

I have worked with ArcDesign on a ocean front property in SW Florida that required a number or special considerations due to the FEMA regulations and County Building Department regulations concerning the flood elevation and high wind zone. They were great in providing permit drawings that the Owners requested and making Code required changes in a timely manner.

ArcDesign provided engineered drawings and inspection services for an after-the-fact permit conversion of our garage to a living area. They also provided, on a separate permit, engineered drawings for an addition to our house.

I was very pleased with the work that Randy did on our home. He did the plans for our upstairs which were tricky because we were converting an attic space into a second story. The varying elevation levels of the attic meant that we had to get creative with the placement of the walls--we ended up building both our drawers and bookshelves into the walls so we stayed within code on the average ceiling height overall--this ended up creating a terrific effect in the upstairs and it allowed us to get our plans approved by the city. Randy was very easy to work with and he listened well. We are very pleased by the work he did in our home.

We purchased an old building that we wanted to remodel to a dental office. Randy did a great job duplicating our ideas and working with the existing structure to minimize demolition need. I have been using Arch design for a couple years now . Randy is fast, affordable and competent. He is reasonable with engineering which is getting harder to find these days. Over engineering is rampant and costly to the consumer. If the job only requires 3 pages you get three pages and do not have to pay for 6 filled with boiler plate items not required. ArcDesign has produced drawings for many of our projects both small and large. New Construction is one thing, but when doing an addition onto and existing home, there are a lot of details that go into properly doing the tie-in so that it doesn't look like a patch job. The attention to detail is always there. Additionally, one of the reasons we keep coming back to ArcDesign is because of how professional they are. One for one, every time we call, they immediately answer the phone or we get a return call in a few minuets. Most of the projects on out website were done my them. Very pro outfit.
