Robert made us a large cabinet with glass doors, drawers and shelves on top and cupboard doors with a cat flap below. We did have a misunderstanding about the design, which we were able to resolve, but the finished cabinet is beautifully made - the drawers spring open with just a touch and the standard of workmanship is really high. Robert was very clear about timescales, made helpful suggestions, for example pointing out that we needed ventilation in the cupboard with the cat tray, and went to a lot of trouble to research the cat flap. The installation was a careful process and he was very neat and tidy. The cupboard has swallowed up a lot of the things we had nowhere to put in a smallish flat, it's been a very good storage solution and visitors have commented on how nice it looks.

Robert guided us through the process offering us a number of options of wood type and internal layout. The wardrobes were assembled in his workshop and then fitted by him with great skill. Robert is a true craftsman and would recommend him to anyone who loves wood and wants a skilled piece of work done. He made a wardrobe and office space in our tiny third bedroom, which required building over the stair bulkhead. It all fits in perfectly and looks beautiful. When there was a slight problem with the clothes rail he came out immediately to fix it. Everything was tidied up after the work done. We cannot recommend him enough.

Alan Skye — wanted a particular a bookcase which I could not get anywhere. Through my work at Adrian Harrington Rare Books I saw the fantastic professional woodwork of Robert Ball. I got in touch with Robert, explained what I needed, he came round to my flat, and we immediately drew up a plan. A few months later, with fantastic service, the bookcase was made in lovely solid wood and exactly to my specification. Excellent work and service, I heartily recommend Robert Ball.

We had kitchen cabinets, lounge corner unit and a desk made to measure. Robert helped us with the design and we are really pleased with the results. Major staircase repairs

Robert is a master craftsman and do an amazing job on repairing our staircase in our 16th century house. His sourcing of suitable reclaimed timbers and help with several other associated aspects were much appreciated. This was a complicated job with unknown elements which he tackled skillfully. His work was clean and tidy and he is a very quick responder to enquiries and questions which is much appreciated by a busy household.

Robert did a fantastic job with numerous projects in our house. Firstly he built and fitted a built in wardrobe that looks great and is made of high quality wood. The overall service was great with quick measurement, design, building and fitting. The wardrobe also came partially built from the workshop to minimise fitting time which was great. Robert also completed many small but useful jobs around the house, like making sure all doors shut, sanding down and making good older wood surfaces and draught proofing our door. All were done with care and he's a neat worker. Would highly recommend Robert.

I have an unusual layout in my apartment whereby the livingroom leads onto an outdoor terrace via a set of French doors that are raised about 1m off the floor. I needed some steps for this, but with the space being relatively tight, it was desirable to find some way of folding or removing the steps when not needed in Winter. Robert designed and built me a custom set of foldaway steps using hardwood. The result, built to spec within only a few weeks, was both practical and good looking. I am extremely happy with this unique piece of custom furniture and would not hessitate to recommend Robert's services to anyone looking for a bespoke cabinet maker.

We wanted open sided bookshelves to be fitted between two upright beams and were recommended to contact Robert Ball. We are so pleased that we did. Robert sourced the perfect timber (old oak) for the shelving which toned in perfectly with the timbering in the room, so much so that the finished bookcase looks as though it has always been there. We are delighted. He is a true craftsman, the shelves fixed with great skill. He was extremely tidy throughout . We would not hesitate to recommend his workmanship.

Our family is beyond pleased with the outstanding craftmanship from Robert Ball and his team on our cabinets and wardrobe project. The planning, discussions and execution of each product was carefully managed from beginning to end. The lounge cabinet wall unit is spectacular providing much needed storage cabinets, display shelving and glass fronted cabinets as well as the TV inset space. Three wardrobes were also built and are beautiful and thoughtful additions to each room. A craft desk and extension was designed and built to allow for maximum usage of a small space. A shoe cabinet was also designed and built to accommodate an active family shoe collection. Robert's professionalism and attention to detail on our project reflects his dedication to achieving quality, timeliness and consideration for his customers. Thank you so much Robert!

Robert gave us elegant design and meticulous finish. Having listened to our ideas, he created an imaginative use of the space, giving us the storage and bookshelf space we wanted in a way that transformed the room. He was also able to meet our requirements that we should be able to access central heating pipes underneath the cabinets, by ingeniously creating a movable base without compromising the structural strength of the cabinets. His careful attention to detail gave us a finished product we are delighted with.

We were pretty desperate for wardrobes after our house renovation and his solutions mean we basically have one wardrobe for all of our clothes and shoes, exactly what we asked for. Beautiful produced work, clear communication and exact pricing. Besides fitted wardrobes Robert created two cupboards in our snug room, again exactly as we wanted and with helpful suggestions too. Robert’s advice when he came around to price up the work convinced us that he was the right person to refurbish the woodwork on our hall, stairs and landing. Based on Robert’s care and attention we were able to restore, rather than replace, the original (mid-1920’s) lower steps and the refurbished stairs look great, are sturdy, and far safer than those inherited when we moved in. In addition to refurbishing the stairs, Robert replaced the poorly made doors airing cupboard doors and others in the hall and landing. Our next project is to install built-in wardrobes into the alcoves either side of the chimney in our main bedroom and we will work with Robert to finesse the design once the room is re-plastered. Robert’s original quotation was competitive with other local tradesmen and the final invoice came in lower than the estimate. Highly recommended.

Needed an existing oak kitchen cupboard door reduced in size to accommodate kitchen alterations. The altered door needed to look as close as possible to the remaining existing doors both the shape of the frame and central panel and the colour. The door when returned had the identical look, even the joints in the frame matched the existing. Outstanding work and I certainly know where to go to in the future for any cabinet work.

We were given the name of Robert Ball from a friend together with a high praise rating. With this recommendation we booked him to install a new front door and the surrounding glass panels. Robert was extremely prompt with his arrival for the estimate and for all his subsequent visits. The work is of the highest quality and the site was always left completely spotless..... The staff were polite and kept in contact throughout the works. They came up with some very good advice on how to construct and finish the works. The finished article is a very nice piece of bathroom furniture that matches the vanity unit and is in complete keeping with the bathroom. Suitable protection was put in place during the works and dust etc. was cleaned up after the works on each occasion. The price was fair for the complexity and quality of the installation.

From concept to design to completion Robert was involved and dedicated himself to making sure the project met our wishes and expectations. Fitting the bookcases in a Victorian house was not as straightforward as we had assumed since walls, floors and ceilings had settled into a variety of shapes and dimensions but Robert managed to make and install bookcases that are quite frankly splendid in construction and finish.

It wasn't a straightforward project as the old door was 100 years + old and I wanted to retain the stained glass and have it fitted to the new door. Robert Ball has done substantial work for us under the guidance of my wife Rita. He has replace the floor in the kitchen and adjoining bedroom. The wall insulation has been. replaced. He built a bed made out of oak and other bedroom furniture. The emphasis has been on high quality and space saving. He has put up shelves. All in all Robert has worked very well for the demanding aspects of the job. I would recommend him highly. He is in the process of completing a cabinet for the kitchen and a large unit for the drawing room. Clearly we would not use him again if we were not confident in his ability. Robert is a most amenable person who listens well.

Robert had already completed an oak staircase for us least year and we were so impressed we have had him back to build a bespoke sideboard, shelving and new windowsill in walnut. As ever, we had certain specifications and that was that the sideboard for the living room had to match a similar hidden opening sideboard in the dining room, the shelving had to have similar thickness to the dining room table top and the colours had to match existing furniture. Add to this the need to have many cable openings, work around sockets in awkward places etc and what should have been a simple job required thinking and ingenuity. All of which Robert provides as standard. We now have a living room that flows into the dining room, with 'grown-up' shelving that fits where it should. Robert really cares about the finish and the quality of the wood he uses, so we are now lucky enough to have a beautiful walnut window sill from one piece of wood and it looks glorious. We completely trust Robert and his work - for several days I had to be away for business and simply left the keys with him. Came back to a clean and tidy house with beautiful furniture in place.
