My husband and I built a new home in 2005 with Tom Harvey, a builder/developer on the Philadelphia Main Line. Over the years we had heard many and varied horror stories about other people’s building experiences with random builders—stories of long delays, poor construction, huge cost overruns, nonexistent follow-up, etc. I am very pleased to say that our experience with Tom Harvey was exactly the opposite. When we first met with him, he told us that he would do everything possible to make the home building experience a positive one for us. He promised that if we met the timeline for making our choices/selections for the house, he would complete the work on time. And he did! Tom builds new homes and also has a fine reputation for historic renovation. He seamlessly blends today’s advanced materials and technology with the gracious traditions of the past. Upper-end finishes and fine detail work are his specialty. He has exceptional sub-contractors and crew, including master carpenters who did amazing work such as a very difficult curved, paneled staircase in our home. We have maintained our relationship (for service and maintenance) with many of his sub-contractors, including electrician, plumber and heating/ac company. Our working relationship with Tom was exceptional. From the beginning, he exhibited the highest ethical standards and integrity. There were no unpleasant surprises. He also stands behind his work. When a problem developed in one small area with the stucco on our house, he came back to make the repair years after the home was finished. Tom built a lasting relationship with us by fulfilling/exceeding our expectations. He created the home of our dreams and we would highly recommend him to anyone considering a building or renovation project.
