The McKernon Group has been designing and building a variety of unique homes and small businesses throughout Vermont and upstate New York since 1987. Our company assures every client a high level of professionalism, efficiency and craftsmanship. The McKernon Group is an environmentally responsible design/build company that encompasses a wide variety of construction styles. The company was founded in 1987 by former owner, Jack McKernon, and his partner, Kevin Birchmore. Expanding the business to its present status, Jack retired in 2011 at which time, Justus Cameron joined Kevin as part-owner of The McKernon Group. Our company’s reputation is based on distinctive home designs, quality workmanship and customer service. With nearly 50 employees working in various capacities, we go well beyond the typical profile of a residential construction company. Follow us to stay up-to-date with our work!

A renovation project including a garage and family room addition was completed with significant quality issues. Additional defects have appeared long term including a substantial crack in the foundation of the garage as well as major leaks in the breezeway roof which had to eventually be completely replaced. Also, an entire room of beadboard paneling has knot holes showing through the paint requiring an entire reprinting of two rooms.

Your renovation was completed many years ago, so unfortunately our staff has no recollection of your project and had no idea there were problems. Our company has long history of quality build and customer service and we care very much about our clients.

McKernon has completed two projects for us - a screened porch and a barn addition. Kevin and his crew are a pleasure to work with before, during and after the project. With every project there are invariably some surprises and a good measure of quality in my mind is how those issues are addressed. McKernon always takes the long view in a client relationship, understanding that if you're happier after the job than when you envisioned the work, you'll come back. We'll come back.

They were the builders of our new house. Their project manager lived at the site for almost a year during the week. He was a diligent, professional and outstanding manager of the workers. It was completed on time and the attention to detail was wonderful. The company uses crews of workers with which they are familiar and work all of the time and thus the coordination and efficiency is maximized. The company was always available afterwards to deal with any issue that arose. We were very satisfied with - and proud of - the work they did in constructing our house.

The McKernon Group built our lake home for us and they did a wonderful job! They were easy to work with and we are still in contact with them a few years later! I would highly recommend them!

We have a camp on a lake in NY. The property has two homes which were both in need of major repair. Our first cabin we used a local craftsman, he was good, but was not done in a timely manner and had to come back for a lot of finishes. When we decided to redo our "main" house we chose McKernon and it was the best decision we made. The builders started on time and the project was completed on date agreed upon in the contract. The site was always clean and orderly. The craftsmanship in the cabinetry was top notch. I really can't say enough for the company and employees. If I was going to build again, I would hesitate to call upon them.

Comentado: What are the colors of the siding and roof on this barn? love it!Thanks, we love this barn too! The stain is Cabot's 'Burnt Hickory'. The manufacturer of the standing seam is Ideal and the color is 'Matte Black'.
