We chose Joe for our project based on what we read on Houzz and Kitsap Builders Association. From the beginning to the end everything went better than what we expected since this was our first project. The scope of our project was new hardwood floors, kitchen cabinets, countertops, the formal dining area, powder room downstairs, new appliances, new stairs and repaint. Joe and Judy kept us informed of progress, answered all of our concerns during the project and made great recommendations and suggestions. Joe is a "hands on" builder. Often times he would drop by to instruct his crew what to do, inspect the work progress and when needed he directed his crew to make corrections or adjustments. He gets involved and works with his crew. Joe has an eye for detail and demands quality and perfection. He has a great work relationship with his crew and it's obvious by what I observed and heard. Judy was great in addressing our many concerns and putting us at ease!! There were no surprises and we are very happy with the project. We hired Joe Gates Construction to remodel portions of our sixty-year- old home and could not have been more impressed and satisfied with the professional, timely, expert services both Joe and his wife, Judy, provided. Their insightful suggestions and vision for our home was especially helpful and encouraging. Subs consistently arrived on time and cleaned up each afternoon. Communication was clear throughout the four month process. Although our transformation was extensive, we would not hesitate to contact them for any sized job in the future.

We had many of our interior walls removed to make an open concept kitchen, living room, and dining room; laid hardwood throughout most of the house; and replaced all trim and doors throughout the house. We are so happy with the remodel. They paid a great deal of attention to the details and worked with us throughout the process to ensure that we got what we were expecting. As with any large construction project, there were a couple of bumps along the way; however, Joe and Judy worked with us to resolve the issues. The project was finished ahead of schedule. When minor fixes were required after the project was complete, they were very prompt in coming back and fixing items.

Joe and Judy Gates completed a kitchen remodel that truly transformed our main living area, two walls were removed opening up the space and view, kitchen was totally redesigned exactly to our style. They were fantastic to work with, excellent workmanship, on time, and always ready to answer our questions. We have received so many complements on the results. Joe and Judy did a complete kitchen remodel for me, including design. They both had good vision of what could be done and came up with a design that accommodated all of my requests. Before the work began, they gave me a detailed work schedule which they stuck with throughout the project. Judy was very helpful in making selections and Joe and Judy both went well out of their way to help me select wood for a custom bar, which Joe and his crew turned into a work of art. I was very happy from start to finish.

Joe Gates and his people are wonderful to work with. They were high quality and schedule oriented. I hope to work with them again in the future.

My husband and I have used Joe Gates Construction for 2 major remodels of our waterfront home. We were so pleased by the first result that we had no hesitation hiring them a second time, and would continue to use them in the future. Their estimates were correct, advice very sound, and creativity impressive in guiding us to the best outcome. The various crews they used on our projects did a great job and finished in a timely manner. Joe and his wife Judy have a great knowledge of quality materials and are highly respected by vendors in our community. Joe Gates Construction was very responsive to follow-up requests and promptly fixed any of the minor problems or adjustments that arose. Joe was our contractor for a large kitchen/dining room remodel. The project included some significant changes to the wall structures and ceiling profile. The subs he included were tireless, respectful, courteous, on time and outstanding craftsmen. Joe himself was all of those things and more. We cannot praise the work they did enough.

Joe Gates Construction built a new addition to the front of our home. This included a new covered porch, front door w/side light, foyer, laundry room, office, and hall closet. When this was almost complete he started on the remodel of our kitchen. He eliminated the old laundry room and expanded the kitchen. He installed all new cabinets, lighting, counter tops, refrigerator, stove top, double oven and put in hardwood floors throughout the upper level with tile floors in the foyer and laundry room. I could sing Joe Gates praise all day long. Joe worked with honesty and the highest integrity. He met the schedule, costs, and quality promised in our discussions and the contract. He had patience in answering any and all questions. He scheduled his subcontractors so there was little or no lag time in completing each phase of the work. Having Joe's wife, Judy, always willing to provide design ideas when we were unsure of what to do was like getting an Interior Designer for free. He delivered our job one day early (Christmas Eve). I would use Joe Gates Construction to do any remodel or building I plan in the future.

Rich and I hired Joe Gates Construction, Inc. to build our home in Poulsbo. We had been warned that building your own home could be an unpleasant experience however we found the opposite with Joe and Judy. They were very professional and helpful throughout the process, keeping us in the loop of the construction phases so there were never any surprises. We love our home just as we did when we first moved in which has been over 9 years ago!

Joe Gates Construction built our custom home in 2006. Joe and Judy were highly professional throughout the entire project. They offered numerous suggestions, alternatives, cost-saving ideas, and architectural enhancements during the process. They also have been willing to follow-up with minor issues or questions we have had during the past 9 years.
