Within a construction project the contractor and customer both have responsibilities. One thing the client is responsible for is making decisions on selections in a timely manner. When selections are in a constant state of change, progress is extremely difficult. To assist our clients, we have an in-house Interior Designer to make the selection process easier, which was not utilized in this project.
When conversation started about parting ways, I felt there were two options. One was to turn over the project to your new contractor at its current state, or to complete the work through pre-drywall inspections and then turn over the job to your new contractor. It mutually decided that the new contractor would take over as-is. At that time, we were transparent with all of our costs, provided invoices, removed all profit, and refunded your money immediately. We feel that we stood by our core value of “Do The Right Thing”.
We stand behind our quality with a 3-year fit & finish warranty on completed projects, which is 3 times the typical warranty provided by a custom builder. This experience confirmed that our focus needs to be on new construction, and we no longer accept remodel projects.
