This is the second time that I have contracted Caudill design group for upgrade projects in my home. It is a pleasure to work with Rusty who is very professional and a true gentleman. He ensures that Projects are complete to the client’s satisfaction and never hesitates to return if you or he do not feel that any work is up to expectations. I would highly recommend Caudill design group.

This is the second project where we have used the Caudill Design Group. The first one a few years ago was finishing the upstairs. We now have a media room, bedroom, and storage area and couldn't be happier with the finished product. Rusty just recently put in a bathroom upstairs, and we are just as pleased with the outcome. Rusty has garnered a good reputation in our development and completed many projects for our neighbors.

We met with a number of design build companies and chose Caudill Design Group based upon Rusty’s creativity and forethought. He anticipated problems that others did not and his plan for transforming the space, including the removal of many walls and redesign of the staircase was exceptional. The project was a difficult one, the house was built in 1941 with many small rooms and almost everything had to be redesigned or replaced. At one point, the house was reduced almost entirely to bare studs. You can imagine for a job like this there were many complications, including having to remove Sheetrock in the house in order to install insulation. Rusty is a good man and fair. With each setback, we would determine an optimal solution. Sometimes we agreed to pay, sometimes he agreed to pay and sometimes we shared in the added expense. As it was a very large and complex job, it took a long time, but 5 months later we were thrilled with our home. It was a pleasure working with Rusty and in addition to appreciating the job he did for us, we simply appreciate him as a person. We hope we never take on a project of this magnitude again but, if we do, we would definitely choose Caudill Design Group.

Caudill Design Group was recommended to us by friends. We are extremely pleased with the project Rusty and his team completed for us. We had Rusty add a mudroom to our house complete with custom cabinets and drawers. Also as part of this project, we had EZE Breeze windows installed on our screened in porch. We LOVE our mudroom and all the extra storage it has given us. We enjoy our new porch every day. Rusty was great to work with and was always very responsive to our questions, ideas, and concerns.

Poor supervision at work site in my opinion, because we had to point out poor work to the contractor. Some subcontractors work was not to our satisfaction especially the stone work inside and outside. Card board boxes left in attics to hold back insulation Mr Caudill, did not supervise and check the subcontractors to our satisfaction. Some material did not meet our standards.

We couldn't be happier as we settle into our "new" home. Rusty and his team were a pleasure to work with throughout the entire renovation process. Rusty is a top notch professional who ensured that all work was done with quality and pride in a timely manner. I highly recommend Caudill Design Group to anyone considering undertaking a renovation or build of any scale!

We had whittled our list down to three contractors before getting a call from my Mother. She had the number to Caudill Design Group, who had been working on a friend’s neighbor’s house. Why? “I looked at his progress. He keeps a clean workplace. That’s important.” It seemed trivial, but she was right: that tidiness permeated throughout Rusty’s entire process. Rusty turned in a bid quickly, and that bid was more straight forward than the rest. It was thorough, organized, and uncertain gray areas were identified. Where others muddled their bids with wild ideas, or padded it with unsubstantially slick sales talk, a simple, “It’s too early to tell for that, and here’s why…” was refreshing. When it comes to building a custom house, having a know-it-all from the get-go means egos are going to clash. With our permission, Rusty decided to enter our 2,300 sq. ft. bungalow into the annual Parade of Homes, giving him a portfolio showcase piece, and, in return, he’d throw in some extra built-ins, upgrades, and landscaping. Every time we visited the site to check on the progress, we noted, “Yep, still tidy.” All of his subcontractors kept a discipline and care I didn’t see often in my years as a building manager in Chicago. Rusty’s background in code enforcement made sure the i’s were dotted and t’s were crossed, which prevented much of the inevitable bureaucratic drama that tends to happen on big projects. Our bank gave six months for completion. Rusty met his own Parade of Homes deadline of five months, and the pace was never panicked. Inevitable hiccups did occur – it’s what keeps HGTV interesting. Rusty addressed each with prompt and clear communication, so we trusted him with our concerns. Obviously, a few disagreements came up, but were pleasantly worked through with no drama. He guided us, but let us come to our own decisions. Thank you, Rusty, and the rest of Caudill Design Group. He has our unquestionable recommendation.

Rusty just completed construction on an Arts and Crafts home I designed in Raleigh, NC. I’m extremely happy with the results and know my clients are thrilled with their new home. Caudill Design Group was highly recommended to me by my neighbors and I was extremely pleased with the end result of the renovation project.
