Focused on the client and their budget to create a true Hollywood ending. FADE TO BLACK. Having toured around the United States a few years as a stand-up comic, Michael Rasky decided it was time to plant some roots. Intrigued by the eclectic architecture of Los Angeles, he naturally segued into a career in real estate. While matching clients with their potential dream homes, Michael discovered a mid-century post-and-beam home that needed a lot of work but had great potential. While working on the renovations, Michael fell in love with design. Building from that, he enrolled in the UCLA Interior Architecture program to further hone his design skills. The synergy between his real estate and design businesses has been an invaluable asset for his client base. Michael is brilliant. He cast his experienced eye over my mixed-message (modern, rustic, Asian) one-bedroom ADU and brought it all together. He used beautiful paints and wall paper, created a rich feature wall and installed a few strategically selected pieces, including a new sofa and ottoman, side chair, nesting end tables, cowhide rug, and a badly needed bookcase in the living area. For the bedroom, he selected a duvet that perfectly matched the painting over my bed and installed a new, natural rug to tie the room together. He extended the kitchen area with a 6-foot butcher block island and purchased smoked glass pendant lights to showcase it. Michael pays attention to small details, like designing a perforated stainless steel panel to finish the butcher block table and naturalist English wallpaper in my modern bath. He didn't move my art but showed me how much better it looked hung at eye level. Michael listened respectfully and, when needed, explained why his idea might work better than mine. Working with Michael was a wonderful experience, and I am so pleased with my new home. I recommend him highly!

Michael was great from beginning to end and beyond. He was able to translate our vision to details in the options he provided for tiles, appliances, fabric and colors for our dining room, kitchen + half bath remodel. We wanted a modern and clean feel that would endure fast trends, and we were so pleased with what he delivered, including his choice of showcase items, like our overhead lighting which makes you say "wow" when you walk in. I would not hesitate to hire Modern Nest again for future work!

Michael Rasky is wonderful to work with. He made a design for us to add 500 square feet to our home. He worked with us from the project's conception, helping us think through the various different options for what kind of space we needed to add. We ended up expanding our living and dining room and adding a bedroom. He thought through all the details and picked fixtures, paint, placement of doors and windows, the fence and gate outside and new entryway to the home. He also helped us pick the built in cabinets in the dining room (for a very low price and they are beautiful--we always get compliments on them). He helped us pick a contractor and helped manage the project, all the way down to getting our permit from the city. He is is reliable, creative, and fun to work with. I would highly recommend him.

My husband and I do not really argue...unless we are remodeling our home! We have never used a designer before but came across Modern Nest thanks to Houzz and couldn't be more pleased. We totally gutted our 1943 Westchester, CA bathroom which was a big project. Michael was able to help us stay in our budget and provide us several options to come up with a design we love. Now, the smallest room in the house makes us want to redesign our entire house we are so in love with it! 5 stars all around

Michael at Modern Nest was great to work with. He re-designed my out dated kitchen, breakfast nook & master bathroom. I am very happy with the results. He selected things I liked, as well as presenting ideas I didn't know I would like. He managed the whole process. His construction, vendors and retails contacts we used were great! I would highly recommend him. He has better photos of the projects than I do...but I get to enjoy the real thing.

Michael has done 2 projects for us. The most recent was a very low- budget conversion of a basement space into a kids recreation area. Michael had many creative ideas to make the space fun and stay on budget. The previous project was a remodel of 2 bathrooms and additional of a half bath. Michael came to our house and immediately "got" our taste. In our first meeting, we nailed down the bathroom wall and floor tile and are thrilled with the choice years later. He came up with the idea for how to carve out an extra half bath and chose extraordinary wall paper that earns compliments from anyone visiting. I have checked the wallpaper company for other potential projects and there is nothing as good as what Michael found. He is a master at sourcing the right material for the right price. He also took on all the legwork of ordering and receiving materials, as well as dealing with the contractor. He found a draftsman to draw up plans according to our sketches. He even came downtown with me to pull our permit!

Michael has an amazing design sense, is very creative and can do a mix of highbrow and low that is seamless. He has a great passion for design and is extremely knowledgable. He kept our project moving along and always provided us with several choices...but not too many, as to be overwhelming. With a background in real estate and design, Michael really knows houses and how to make the most out of them. Plus, he is hilarious...you will have a great time working with Michael!

Michael with Modern Nest designed and managed a remodel of my bedrooms and one of the baths. He listened to my needs and provided several options that matched my requirements. The selected styles matched the rest of my condo well and my space feels warm and comfortable. Michael also engaged people who did a great job delivering his vision, and they were joy to work with. I would definitely recommend Modern Nest and Michael for future work.
