Our architectural design process transforms an owners ideas into reality with an emphasis on aesthetics, comfort, function and the surrounding environment, whether an urban lot or the side of a mountain. Our process focuses on the owners desires and needs with the objective being to create a home that is truly theirs. Design and construction requires depth of experience. Having done 100+ home renovations and/or new homes, we apply that experience, design expertise and sensibilities to every job. We serve the Charlotte, NC region and are licensed in both North and South Carolina. Our process begins with dialogues, discussions and questions, moving to sketching ideas and thoughts to construction drawings and finally construction. From start to finish, we believe that designing your home should be creative and exciting. If you hire us, we expect your full involvement in the project, from the initial discussions through the day you are handed the keys. We do not have one or two meetings and then hide in our studio, create "your" house and return with a finished design. We commit time to you and want you to do the same so in the end, you have your house.

My husband and I selected John and Mike to help with the building of our home in Charlotte. It was a wonderful collaborative effort that resulted in a home that we love more today than ever. They listened to our ideas and added many of their own to produce a great product. We couldn't have been more pleased with their help and support. The house was built on time and under budget.

We worked with Mike Doyne of Fryday & Doyne on our home renovation/expansion last year. I can't say enough positive things about working with Mike - he is thorough, responsive, creative, and unbelievably knowledgeable. We were total novices when it came to a project like this, and Mike guided us through it every step of the way. He did an amazing job of blending old and new, building in storage and space everywhere, and honoring the original historic home - we get compliments on our house all the time, all thanks to him!

John Fryday and Mike Doyne were involved in designing our house from just a lot. They were excellent in helping the builder decide the best site for the house. They were involved with each decision we made and always available to talk with us. They were on site many times. They are very versed in the building codes and that helped with a couple of decisions. They helped in being sure that the framing and supports were above average. When we started the blueprint process...they were very patient. I was pretty sure I knew what I wanted but their suggestions were invaluable and after 2 years in the house...they were correct. They added their touch to quite a few areas and I am pleased with each of their ideas. Some things they thought of...I never thought about...and now they are some of the best features of the house. They worked as a team with the builder and the experience was aleways respectful and helped make the experience the best we have had in building a house.and this was our 5th. We would recommend them without any reservations.

We have used Fryday & Doyne twice. Once for a kitchen and laundry room addition and were so pleased we hired them again when we did a full house renovation in 2005. They are our "go to" team when it comes to design and execution. The 2005 project was an experience and we would not have the home we have today without them. We have reached out to John and Mike again to plan another renovation on our Lake Norman home. They are always the perfect team for us!

Working with Fryday and Doyne has been a true benefit. As a general contractor, I have worked with several architects, and it is rare to come across a firm that is great in all aspects. They are respectful, professional, creative, and value the team relationship. John Fryday creates a team environment with all involved which in turn crafts the best possible final product. I have enjoyed my experiences with Fryday and Doyne and highly recommend them.

My husband and I enlisted the help of John Fryday & Mike Doyne in developing a plan for a sizeable renovation of our Charlotte home. They were not only a pleasure to work with but were very knowledgeable and professional. They clearly listened to our needs and wants in providing plans that creatively solved for everything we had hoped to include in the project. They focused not only on the visual esthetics but on the way in which you might want to live in the space offering practical advise for optimal function. They exhibited artistry and ingenuity while keeping within the architectural style of the existing structure. We could not have been happier with their work. We would not hestitate to use their services again in the future and highly recommend them.

We worked with Fryday & Doyne on two residential projects. The first was a seamless renovation and addition to our mid-century ranch with basement. We were so pleased with our first Fryday and Doyne experience that we chose the firm to design a new home for us. John Fryday was able to listen to our ideas and desires for our new home and transform to an incredible plan. This is a very talented and professional group.

This architectual firm designed a 750 square foot addition to our house in Charlotte, NC. We worked with John Fryday. He developed three different plan designs for us. Once we selected the design he worked with us to plan all of the details. In additon he was also very helpful with our discussions with the contractor.
