Residential interiors are a little bit more refined since designer Kevin Mauseth traded in his business focus for a more creative one in interior design in 2007. Kevin, an Oregon native, trekked to Portland to study business at the University of Portland in 1998 and worked in the business world until returning to school in 2005 to study design at the Art Institute of Portland. He entered the design industry as a member of the interiors department doing commercial design for an architecture firm in Portland, Oregon. However, after many large projects and as much cubicle-space planning as he could take, he decided to take a different design path and focus on people and their homes. Ever since making the switch, Kevin has been re-creating spaces for his clients wherever he has lived and worked. Armed with the belief that form does follow function and that the way we live in our houses really needs to be congruent with the design, Kevin has been working closely with clients to reinvent the spaces that aren’t working for them as well as they should. For him, ongoing care, maintenance and longevity are as much of a factor as beauty, timelessness and visual appeal. He has done everything from traditional interiors to more contemporary spaces using a mix of materials, all done to highlight the client’s individual tastes and personality. From classic to funky, small to large, traditional to contemporary, Kevin can do it all. Kevin Mauseth’s residential interior design background has largely come from working under a full service design-build-finish-decorate model. This approach to design has given him a strong understanding of everything through the construction process from initial designs to completed project. During his career, Kevin has worked on many different projects including kitchens, bathrooms, whole house remodels, new construction, finish upgrades, exterior work and a variety of other renovation projects. Well suited to this career choice, his clients are the better for it. You can take their word for it, or let the work stand for itself. For Kevin, design is more than just a career, it’s a passion. Whether you are thinking of building a new home or a renovating your existing home, Kevin can help. Kevin is currently working at House Plan Zone doing design work for residential plan sets and would love the opportunity to make your home live better for you.
