Are you ready to be more organized? Do you yearn for more functional and efficient spaces in your home or at work? Are you, or a loved one, ready to downsize and wondering where to start? Or do you feel your current decor is dated and uninspiring? Your Space Made to Order can help. I combine a passion for order with smart space planning and functional design. I'm resourceful and budget-conscious and offer thoughtful and creative solutions to help clients accomplish their goals. Many skills acquired over the years serve me well in this career. These include asking the right questions, listening carefully, identifying clients’ priorities and/or greatest sources of distress and then breaking the job to be done into manageable chunks. While I work on organizing and design jobs of all sizes, I am known for my ability to manage complex projects with many moving parts. I have two particular areas of expertise. The first is working with homeowners who are moving and/or downsizing. Services rendered include helping them prepare for a move (downsizing, updating and staging the residence) and then settle into their new home. The second is small space living, offering space planning, creative organizing solutions and recommendations for multi-use, multipurpose furniture.

Jeanne transformed our house — and our lives. My adult son and I worked with Jeanne for two years. When we started, each of the three levels in our house looked like something from Hoarders — every single room was overwhelmed with clutter. But in the course of a major overhaul, Jeanne helped us identify what could be discarded, where we could send the items we didn’t want to keep, and how to organize what we retained. I am a passionate knitter and I particularly appreciated Jeanne’s assistance in finding suitable recipients for the yarn I no longer wished to keep and consolidating my remaining extensive yarn stash so that I can now easily identify what I have and where it is located. Jeanne has a wealth of contacts for disposing of old furniture and belongings, and she takes away what you want to discard if it will fit in her car. Thanks to Jeanne, all of the rooms in our house are now functional; we are no longer embarrassed to have visitors to our house. On a personal level, Jeanne is absolutely delightful. My son and I will miss seeing her regularly.

Jeanne is absolutely amazing!!! As we were preparing to downsize from a house to a townhouse I was under tremendous stress and anxiety. We had such a short schedule to prepare our house to be sold. I had my doubts, but Jeanne came and assured me with confidence that she could help to get the job done. She jumped right in and spent hours helping. From decluttering, to packing she did it all! It was such a relief working with a true professional that knows how to organize. Without Jeanne we would have never made such a tight schedule. Jeanne was meticulous all the elements of turning what had been a bedroom into a first-rate office. My personal comfort went into every decision, from which office chair might best support me in terms of height and back support to what my needs might be for a desk. We landed on a mechanized desk that allows me to stand or sit. She carefully chose the pain scheme then matched the carpeting and furniture to the paint and carpet. Her measurements were precise as well and she listened to what I thought I needed. Often design professionals give only a cursory nod to what you want. The result is a small room that feels spacious, has the furniture it needs but is not overloaded and most important, is functional. And it is comfortable.

I am so grateful for Jeanne Fox-Alston for helping make my condo feel like a new home. Having struggled with organization and overwhelmed at knowing there were many things in my home needing a review, I found Jeanne's energy and design sense to be "just what the doctor ordered," a godsend. With her at my elbow I was able to partner with Jeanne to get things done. I told Jeanne her services were "worth every dime." My condo is now more airy and a reflection of my new self!!

I called Jeanne soon after I accepted an offer for the house in which I lived for nearly 32 years. I had little over a month until my closing and needed help with everything. In fact, I told here that I wanted her to make my move seamless on both ends. She did all that and more. She found the movers I ended up hiring (they charged much less than the ones recommended by my realtor), as well as a company to ship my dining room table to my daughter in Illinois. She got rid of the furniture and items that I didn't want to keep, selling some of it and giving away or donating the rest. She even went with me to see the condos I was interested in while deciding which one to buy. Jeanne also did all of the packing, and set up my bedroom and kitchen after the move. Hiring Jeanne allowed me to concentrate on everything I need to do to make my closings (for the sale of my house and purchase of the condo) as smooth as possible. I love my new place, and as I keep telling her, I would not be here if not for her. I highly recommend her to anyone considering a move or downsizing.

Jeanne is a superb organizer. She was always professional and on time each time I met with her. She was able to help me declutter and maximize upon the space in my garage. She also took away items that were no longer needed and ensured they went to organizations that would give them to people who could use them. She also helped me to stay on track with boxes I needed to go through. I would highly recommend her services.

When I grew frustrated trying to prepare even the simplest of meals because my kitchen was so cluttered and disorganized, I reached out to Jeanne at Your Space Made to Order. Jeanne's calm and focused demeanor was the perfect foil to my chaos. She quickly assessed my needs, along with my family's, and helped us edit our kitchen tools, appliances and pantry essentials. Then she developed easy to maintain approaches to keeping order. Jeanne also devised a clever solution for the random items that also require containment, giving us a "junk drawer" bin stored behind pantry doors that no guest will ever open by accident when searching for silverware. Jeanne is a true professional. I am downsizing because eventually I wanted to move from my four bedroom house. But even if I didn't want to move, I knew I had too much stuff. She is very analytical and truly makes your think about whether or not you need all those cake pans or not. (I didn't) But she also helps you get rid of the stuff. She will pack stuff up and take it away to a donation site and bring you the receipt. I am now able to find what I need in my kitchen, and all my other rooms. After several visits, I was very pleased about the amount of stuff I got out of my house.

Jeanne is amazing! As a real estate agent, working with sellers in preparing their home for sale, can sometimes be an arduous task, but Jeanne makes it looks effortless. She is hard working, supportive and highly efficient, characteristics that are paramount when assisting homeowners with the tough task of purging and organizing their belongings to boost their homes' appeal. Did I mention she's a creative and talented designer too! In a recent home seller transaction, not only did she provide organizational services, but Jeanne and her team assisted the sellers in a master bath redesign, kitchen refresh, fixture/paint selections and provided light staging. Her knack for design and attention to detail transformed a lovely but dated colonial into an upgraded showplace. Not only did her talent, energy and positive focus take a lot of stress out of the home preparation experience, more importantly, my sellers achieved the sales price they desired. Jeanne really goes above and beyond expectation, which gives my clients homes a competitive advantage. In addition to her professionalism and design skills, Jeanne's just a great person to work with.
