With degrees in architecture, structural engineering and fine arts, Gregory has a wide-ranging approach to residential design. Having worked for years with premier residential practices in Austin and Philadelphia, he has deep experience in custom residential design. For the last 13 years his work in design-build companies in Texas and Oregon rounds out his background as a remodeler with a balanced approach to both aesthetic design and practical construction concerns. His areas of experience include kitchens, bathrooms, whole house remodels, outdoor living designs, additions, new homes and a variety of renovation projects. Stylistically his range is as wide and far as are his clients' homes: from Queen Anne Victorian to Craftsman Bungalow to Mid-Century modern to Ultra Modern and more. His design work over the years as been recognized with many awards, including local and regional NARI (National Association of the Remodeling Industry) Awards, a national Chrysalis Award, Qualified Remodeler and Professional Remodeler awards. Gregory was easy to work with. Importantly he understood what I wanted and especially important - he understood my concerns about adding to an old and unique styled house. He gave good input, many suggestions. I trust his judgment. Communication with Gregory and the entire CG&S team was great throughout the process. CG&S and Gregory are quality ! My remodel with Neilkelly was completed beautifully. Working with Gregory Thomas, contractors and subcontractors was a good experience. I had never done a remodel and was nervous as to what to expect but Gregory worked with me through the whole process and now I have a beautiful remodel.

He listened to all of our concerns, added great ideas and helped solve problems. He was very responsive and always available. We've lived in our home for nearly 30 years, and Gregory has designed three remodeling projects. He possesses a rare combination of artistic sensibilities and a deep understanding of how people inhabit spaces. He is deliberate and thoughtful in his approach to design, and as a result our home has become increasingly more beautiful and, importantly, more livable. My wife and I comment often on how well our home "works" for us. All of Gregory's insightful designs are carefully crafted and in keeping with the style of the original home. One would be hard pressed to discern the features of our current home that were not part of its original design. As important as his vision and skill as a designer are, Gregory is a joy to work with. His calm and patient approach engender feelings of trust and collaboration. I cannot imagine a more thoughtful, inventive, and capable designer who is also such a kind and generous person.

We had the privilege of working with Gregory twice in a ten year period. We loved our location, but our 1950s ranch home was too small for our growing family. I contacted Gregory, and he came back with an amazing plan for our new master suite, creating the perfect space despite numerous constraints such as property line spacing restrictions, the presence of a huge majestic live oak and the existing house structure and style. After the third child arrived we once again needed space. I contacted Gregory, and he instantly remembered my house layout and proposed we go up and add on a second story. This was a large undertaking, and everyone told us merely to buy a new house, but we loved our location, and now nothing we looked at compared to our master suite. We truly love our new/old home, and I cannot imagine having gone through this process with any other architect. Gregory listened to the design or aesthetic concerns I had, but--more importantly--he listened to what I needed to live in my home. The lighting, the storage and the flow are perfect for our family. Gregory's professionalism and talent created a home that is tailor made for our needs. The master suite was designed and built in 2008, and the second story add on commenced in 2016 and was completed in April of 2017.

We were fortunate to be able to work with Gregory on an extensive addition to our home and I would recommend him highly. He guided us through each step of the process, including developing our program of requirements. Based on the information and images we provided, he was able to do a thorough needs assessment and synthesize the information we gave him to determine a clear vision. His design and detailing skills are incredible, and this is balanced with a practicality and groundedness with regard to usability, flow and cost. We were “wowed” with the beautiful result. Due to his meticulous attention to practicalities and detail, we were able to get a home that has grown with our family and continued to serve us well. Gregory Thomas designed and oversaw the remodeling of my kitchen, the Corvallis Blue Kitchen as seen in his projects. He listened well and understood what I wanted, helping me refine my ideas and blend them with his. His design changed the kitchen without changing the footprint which shortened the job. Work started and was finished on schedule. While things such as under counters drawers for china storage will allow me to age more gracefully in place, that the new kitchen functions well is topped by the beauty of the space. Photos can be seen in his projects.

Victoria, it was wonderful working with you, and your kitchen is one of my favorites ever! I so love the blue tile you selected, and the details we were able to do in the stainless counters and sink. Truly, the whole ended up being greater than the sum of the parts as it all came together--a lovely kitchen in so many ways!
