Bell Landscapes

When I was engaged by Mark to deliver the interior design for his family home, I was very excited by his experience as a landscape designer and the passion he had for bringing our worlds together. Our collaboration allowed us to harness the importance we both felt was needed to harmoniously blend the interiors, the architecture and the landscaping. Mark’s love of materials and knowledge of construction contributed to a well thought out and executed outcome for his renovation. Mark was open to exploring new ideas and always willing to look into different avenues to suit the site and meet any functionally requirements. Mark’s great sense for design can be seen throughout his work, evident in his own home, and in the landscaping designs for his clients homes. I hope to have the pleasure to work with alongside him again in the future.

Considering Bell Landscaping, read our experience first! We purchased a less than two-year-old property where Bell Landscaping had handled the landscaping, including pool tiling and driveway pavers. The overall project was a large one and the job looked and looks good. However, defects with the pool coping and driveway paving were evident before it was even two years old. The main issues were mortar slowly leaking into the pool and the bullnose portion of the tiles splitting away from the main tile. In addition to multiple loose tiles around the pool. With regards to the driveway, it was a similar issue with drummy pavers and pavers breaking away from the concrete slab below. Bell were notified of this by the original owner, however the problem was not resolved before we moved in, and we followed it up many times since. Bell took no responsibility and insisted the problem was the tiles, not their work, while repeatedly assuring us it would be sorted out and we wouldn't be left hanging. The tile manufacturer inspected and said the problem was the tiling work, and referred us back to Bell who suddenly were no longer assuring us it would be sorted out. Getting shunted back and forth we then engaged a third-party tiler who confirmed it was an issue with the tiling work and incorrect adhesive. While sourcing new tiles, we showed the tiles and issue to two other tile companies who also told us the tiling work as at issue. Despite all the early noises of assistance, in the end Bell's only offer of rectification was to help us to pick new tiles (at our expense) while referring their original contractor to us - who quoted us more than 10K (not including new tiles), to fix his own work, which was, (in our opinion formed from the advice of industry professionals) shoddy work to begin with. When the tiler visited at Bell's behest, we also pointed out the issues with the driveway tiles, which he admitted he had done the work for Bell and told us he would fix that, but we never heard from him again. Bell also told us the Tiler might be able to spend a couple of hours to 'tidy up' the coping, but when we asked about availability, we heard nothing more. All up we are looking at $15,000 to fix pool coping that failed within two years. We would have thought we were in safe hands with Bell Landscaping, but no-one wants to guarantee their work anymore and everyone wants to pass the buck. Disappointed is the least of our feelings.

From the first contact we had with Mark, we have known that we were in safe hands. Mark has helped us to turn an under-utilised backyard that was filled with scrappy plants and mosquito's into our favourite room in the house. Mark’s designs are world class and his access to excellent tradesman made the whole process a seamless one-stop-shop. At every stage budgets were clear, work was done on time, requests for changes cheerily incorporated and the quality of workmanship is outstanding. Mark’s passion for quality design and for plants is infectious and we find ourselves both out in the garden much more and also simply sitting inside and staring at the beautiful backyard that I had only ever dreamed of having. One of the best renovation decisions we have ever made and I would not hesitate to recommend him. We look forward to enjoying it for many years to come.

Mark and his team have worked on many projects for me in Bondi Junction and Woollahra. He designed my front and back gardens and organised trades and coordination of the works. We engaged Bell landscapes to carry out landscaping works in our rear garden a few years ago. This included some garden maintenance and installing a timber deck. From our initial contact with Mark Bell to provide a quote, right through to the work being carried out to completion, we found Mark and his team to be very professional, honest and reliable and the work they completed was of a very high standard. Working within the real estate industry myself, I do have an appreciation for good tradespeople. Not an easy brief. Starting from dirt we wanted an outdoor area to compliment our newly finished home and thanks to Bell Landscapes more than completed our life !!! We wanted privacy but easy open entertaining areas. We wanted to accentuate a small block but still have areas for privacy and chill out zones. We wanted resort living and looks with zero maintenance. And I needed wanted to see a lawn ever again. Mark really listens to understand what you want and then "inception like" he comes with brilliant ideas that you will believe were yours. Clever design, attention to detail and and thoughtful and creative landscaping and plant selection are just the start. With tricky access, the landscape team were such a pleasure to work with and have around. Simply the best you could wish for.

A house is a shelter that provides the framework for the relationship of people with nature. A great renovation or new build has a wonderful relationship with nature, and this is not possible without a great garden and outdoor areas that complement modern lifestyle and the house design. Mark and his team understand this, and are great at designing gardens and landscapes that work both with the house and modern life. We have worked with Mark on many projects and will continue to do so. I always recommend Mark.

I have worked with Bell Landscapes several times over the past three years and have found them to be some of the most reliable and exacting contractors in the business.
