The project was to demo and rebuild a brick retaining wall around the front yard of my house. After selecting three proposals for evaluation, I selected ECLD’s because it was the most complete and detailed of the three, detailing exactly how the project would proceed. After meeting with Mark Simpson and his foreman Roberto, and seeing his crew in action, I knew I had made the right decision. The job was completed on time and on budget. I have a patio project for the future and I will certainly contract with Mark and ECLD again!

I had a patio, driveway, and the backyard designed and executed. It looks way better than I could have imagined.

East Coast Landscape Design did a gorgeous job on my home. I had a paver walkway installed with lighting. I had a drainage problem in the front yard that the company fixed with grading and a French Drain. I had a master design completed and have followed what the designer recommended. In my backyard I had privacy trees planted and on the side of the driveway, the crew cleared out all the weeds and old shrubs and mulched the area. It now looks beautiful and weed free. They weeded all the flowers beds and mulched, now it looks so fresh. The crew arrived on time and in uniform. They answered all my questions and even completed a few things that I asked for extra. The property was left immaculate and I received a follow up call from Mark Simpson to make sure I was satisfied with the work. Great job East Coast Landscape Design.

I hired East Coast Landscape Design to take care of a sump pump drainage problem under my deck, as well as install a stone patio under the deck. They did a wonderful job with both. Mark designed the project and answered any questions I had. He provided all the necessary information and design plans to obtain approval for the project from my homeowners association. Katie was very helpful with scheduling, billing and answering general questions. Roberto and Crew did a great job installing the patio and cleaning up afterwards. The patio looks great and the drainage issue has been taken care of. I would definitely hire them again and/or recommend them to a friend.

We have used their services extensively over the years. They re-designed our entire back yard years ago. Recently we had them remove existing plants by the street corner and replace them with more appropriate ones. They also installed a permeable paver walk in the front and did a complete cleanup and mulching of all the flower beds. The quality of the work was excellent. There were frustrating delays of several days between phases of the project, but everything turned out right in the end. Highly recommended.

Mark Simpson and East Coast Landscaping were great to work with on this project. At every step of the way, Mark worked with us to get what we want, and stay within the budget we had set. They were able to completely change our backyard from a plain old DC yard with a less than ideal deck, into an oasis in NE DC. They were able to take my original plans for our yard and create a perfect getaway from the hustle and bustle of the DC work life and stay within budget while still adding in the little extras we came up with in the last few days. The value of the work done will add 2 times the amount spent on the project once we decide to sell and move on form this house. But that will be tough to do now that we have the backyard of our dreams. I would highly recommend East Coast Landscaping for any work you are considering getting done to your house. They are professionals and know what they are doing. It is well worth getting a quote from Mark on your next project, as they were not over priced and certainly not hard to work with through out the project. They are a quality company who valued us as customers. They where willing to come back a month later to do touch ups from the project, and fix our gate which we foolishly left open for the wind to slam shut and damage. Description of Work: They tour down and ripped out our existing plain old boring yard with a deck and turned it into an Oasis in DC by installing a 6-foot gorgeous privacy fence, a 18" sitting wall (retaining as well), a 450 foot paver patio, new steps to backdoor, drainage from 2 rain gutters to curb, stone areas for edging and our shed, and completely re-sodded our yard. All within 2 weeks of work time. The crew was excellent and easy to work with day in and day out.

They designed and built a beautiful paver front walk for us including removing old concrete sidewalk and covering existing stoop with pavers. I highly recommend them!

We've had a lot of work done at our house, and Mark and his team have been by far the most impressive. Mark worked with us to develop landscaping and hardscaping plans, and waited patiently while we decided what to do. Once we committed, he was able to schedule us within two weeks, even during the busy season. His hardscaping team was incredibly hardworking, and also prompt, professional, and courteous. They finished what could have been a multi-week job in a matter of days. The landscaping team was also great. Mark responded to our questions and concerns same-day. I hired East Coast Landscape and Design to remodel my backyard patio , This remodeling involved the following: 1. Removing a wooden deck that rotted. 2. Installing a Bilco door that permitted egress from the basement to comply with building codes. 3. Cover the patio with pavers. These pavers were shaped with a nice curve that extended into the backyard and that bordered the Bilco door. 4. Create a paver path that connected the left side of the backyard patio to the driveway in the front of the house ["left" here means looking from the house to the patio]. 5. Cover the backyard wall space left by the deck removal with stones to match the existing stones on other parts of the house walls and steps 6. Put sod where the pavers borders contacted the existing lawn. Following project completion, my neighbors saw the patio and walkway and gave work rave reviews.

This was a large erosion control and slope stablization project. I am very happy with the resulting retaining wall, multi-level patio, safety railing and the rocks and plantings that were used to fill in the eroded area of my property. I wanted the erosion control and retaining wall. I got those and more. I have a beautiful, functional outdoor living space. The expert crew had a good eye for the aesthetic aspect of the design on top of their technical construction knowledge. They protected my existing lawn so that it survived multiple bobcat trips carrying loads of block, rock and fill. I highly recommend this company.

I ha e been a customer of East Coast Landscape for 25+ years. The company has landscaped my entire yard with great results. I would not use anyone else. There is always an open line of communication with the owner and those who come to the work. These people show respect and are knowledgeable about what they are sent to do to my yard. ECLD listened to the ideas I had for my yards and helped me turn them into projects that met my goals for function, beauty, and privacy and they did it within the price range I wanted. The quality of the plants and materials they used was very good and nearly all thrived during the growing season. I had one tree that mysteriously browned and died, so they replaced it (no charge). Also, when they erred during the planting of some groundcover (they put it slightly in the wrong place) they fixed it the next day. They were easy to work with, professional, and are clearly very interested in working with you to get you what you want.

We hired East Coast to install lighted flagstone steps and a rather long path to our house.. the job required regrading and precision stone work. They did a beautiful Job, were responsive to requests for changes And completed the work in time. I highly recommend them.
